I am so happy to write a positive comment about Ian Comyns and this company. Our son sourced this agency - they have only been managing our property for a short time. They took over our existing tenants and managed the difficult situation of trying to manage them when there was limited paperwork in place and the flat had deteriated substantially.

In that time they have done a substantial renovation for us - the flat was an absolute mess when the tenants left.
As we live in Perth and the flat is in Sydney it would have been very challenging for us to manage the renovation.
Not only has Ian sourced all the trades and kept us informed every step of the way they have not charged us anything for managing this renovation. Hard to believe really - I cannot believe our luck at finding this company.
I have seen some of the fees Perth agents charge and just cannot believe this company is such good value.
Ian has also found us new tenants and was diligent enough to pick up an untruthful applicant.
All in all I think Ian and his colleagues do a wonderful job - I just cannot fault them. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting professional property managers who are sharp and well informed.

Absolute Joke - that is all I have to say!!!

Written my Miriam Lubov Krimotat - who is employed in the same industry - however our agency goes above and beyond in a high level of service to both tenants and landlords!

Once again we fell into the dishonesty of this agency, their staff and the landlord. After signing an agreement and immediately adhering to the terms and conditions and cancelling a tribunal hearing and removing my review, the agency informed that just like through our entire tenancy the landlords would not keep up their end and simply do the right thing. Again a big massive FAIL!!

Be very careful when dealing with this agency and what you rent from them. It will be a living nightmare.

Ian and Chris were able to match our sale with a previous seller's interest in our area and specifically our property. It all happened very quickly [so much, that the property did notn even go public]. Their knowledge, understanding of the local area and advice made the dealings very easy and gave us great confidence in the sales process.

Ian is an incredibly lovely man, he knows exactly what he is doing and is a pro in his field! I highly recommend anyone who is looking to buy or sell to work with him!

This team without a doubt are worthy of the best review I have ever given. I'm a very time poor grandmother these days with investment properties in Australia and New Zealand. Over the years it has been absolutely reassuring to know that the dynamic Exchange Team, Ian and Chris will manage my property with the highest standard of professionalism I have ever encountered. Thanks to their vigilance, attention to detail, up to date information and updates. I am completely relieved of the stress and concerns of property management. If you need a team that is totally "on the ball " allowing you to focus on other life-enhancing priorities don't look past this one.

Exchange managed properties for me for a number of years. At first they did well but in recent years I became dissatisfied with their performance in ensuring the the units were well maintained. When I changed to a new agent I found the transfer of information from Exchange to the new agent was poorly handled. (Later Update): Originally I gave them 2 stars but now have marked them down because I have found out that they had not only not transferred the information but also kept receiving information regarding strata fees so that my strata bills and penalties continued to accumulate.

I lived in a flat managed by exchange for five years and they were the most incredible company to deal with. Always friendly and responsive, they often went above and beyond to make sure any of our maintenance needs were catered for. Plus they are awesome, friendly, lovely people. Couldn t recommend highly enough.

Maureen rocks. She always leaves us little notes saying how fabulous the flat looks when she inspects it!!! Happy with the service as a tenant.

Only 4 stars because the direct debit system sux. :-)

WORST REAL ESTATE EVER.
IAN COMYNS ASSAULTED ME INSIDE MY OWN HOME BECAUSE WE WOULDNT LET HIM ENTER OUR HOME WITHOUT NOTICE.

IAN COMYNS IS A LIAR AND BY FAR THE DODGIEST REAL ESTATE AGENT IN TOWN.

We have been relying on their service for years. They are very reliable, knowledgeable, and helpful.

These guys are great. Chris always ensures the property is looked after and has gone the extra mile to assist with resolving multiple issues following damage from a water leak.

Extremely unprofessional. No concept of who really their customer is. I'd never recommend this bunch to ANYBODY, in fact, if they already manage your property you should consider going elsewhere before it is too late. Look out especially when the lease agreement ends as they seem to favour the tenants and not the owners making the owners wear ALL COSTS and not making the tenants responsible for their damages and things they should really be paying for. Disgusting "service"

We are property owners and use Exchange property to manage the lease of our rental property. We have recently had tenants move out and Ian managed the process very well. We feel very comfortable with Exchange property managing this process in the future.

I was a tenant in one of the properties managed by Exchange for over a year. During that time, they were responsive with communications, and very helpful whenever needed.

Exchange Realty have continuously failed to repair our leaking roof and we would never recommend entering into a tenancy managed by them. We have been asking for repairs for over 6 months.

I've never felt let down by Ian Comyns and the staff at Exchange Property. They've always been true to their word, and if you're looking for someone to trust, then you couldn't do any better than them.
There are other real estate agents out there, but this is the one that has class.

Really terrible experience and would not recommend. Not managing the property effectively and poor communication. Difficult to deal with and causing issues for tenants.

UPDATE:
It appears the owners assume every bad review comes from one disgruntled customer. Just not the case and not the way to deal with negative reviews!

From a tennant's perspective they're really good with communication and fairness and working together.
Every time I had an issue, it was raised and a solution was brought forward for everyone involved.
Maria is lovely. One of the best property manager's I've worked with and so is Maureen.
Everybody has stories of terrible property managers and real estate agents, but Exchange is a great example of when treating tennants nicely can work for everyone including the landlord.
I was genuinely sad to have to move out. But I'll be keeping an eye out on their properties when I'm in the market again!

I have had many agents manage my property over the years and by far Exchange Property has been the best. They have always secured good tenants and are on top of everything. Communication with them is great and they are always professional and importantly consistent and reliable.

I've used Exchange both to rent out my Surry Hills unit and then to sell it. I'd highly recommend them for property management and real estate sales in Sydney. While renting out my apartment, there was an issue with a tenant and Exchange was very professional in handling it - always keeping me informed and achieving a positive outcome. My unit was then sold within a month of listing and for considerably more than the reserve. I believe Exchange provides more attentive and personal service than you typically get from one of the 'big' agencies. I recommend them highly!

Ian and his capable team have been managing my property since i left Australia in 2011. They provide advice when I need it, complete thorough annual inspections of the property with video and photo reports, collect rent, pay all bills, organise handymen, oversee small projects and provide monthly and annual statements in perfect format for my accountant. The team is always a pleasure to deal with and react promptly to every enquiry I make. The result is happy long term tenants and happy landlords. They make oversees property ownership easy and I highly recommend them to every property owner.

I had rented a pet friendly property from exchange and was asked to pay an extra $30 rent on top of what they were asking to cover costs of any damage caused by the pet. Then I was asked at the end of the lease to pay for the replacement of the carpet, because of the smell the replacement costs were $560 but the extra rent I paid totalled $1560 all this extra rent was disregarded. They also debited money from my bank account without my approval.
And refused to return it. They are one of the most unproffesional agencies I have dealt with and I warn you to be vigilant when conducting business with them.

Wow, I just read below google review. I feel kind of bad that the tenant, obviously lost at tribunal, had such a force as Ian and Kris to contend with. Once you place your property in their trust they protect it like their own. I have referred my clients to them for many years, simply as I know they are the best in the business. My clients have all given glowing reviews and become clients for life. Hand your property over and sit back and relax, with reviews like this you know they are working for their money.

Went to view a property, the place was being worked on and when we asked the agent if they would be working on the place while we were there she hesitantly answered no but you could tell she had no clue if they were or not. Time wasters.
