The ER almost killed my 4 month old baby. We visited the ER twice with my infant during a recent trip in October 2019. The hospital sent us home twice saying it was allergies or acid reflux. One day after visiting the er he stopped breathing due to mucus blocking his airways. He had RSV, which you can test for and showed ALL symptoms. We spent four days in intensive care at children s.

The ER can be somewhat frustrating. You could be stuck there for hours.

Last Nov. I was misdiagnosed by one ER doc. Was told I had a boil. No blood work taken...no tests...no antibiotic given...sent home. Within four days this "boil" on my lower back had become so infected it was spreading across my lower back. You could barely touch it. I returned to the ER to see if the mass could be drained. Dr. Courtney Wilner saved my life. He admitted me, I was diagnosed with MRSA and put into isolation. Dr. Matthews drained the site bedside it couldn't be numbed because it was so severely infected. Extremely painful!!! My whiteblood cell count was 40,000. Should be around 11,000. Had a high fever. Was in for a week.

I Thank God for my friend Steph and Dr. Wilner...they seriously saved my life.

Dr Mills is the best. . Everyone is always friendly and I never had trouble with anyone there. I been in and out of this Hospital since I was a child and they always treated me good and now I bring my kids there and I am pleased with how they take care of my kids.

My Wife and I moved to LATROBE from CORRY, PA. We were EXPECTING Our 1st Child & WE were so EXCITED about it. We wanted to Go & take LAMAZE Classes at LATROBE HOSPITAL, but there was a MAJOR PROBLEM. The Head Nurse in Charge LOOKED DOWN on us bc My Wife was on MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. I was just HIRED at WQTW Radio & I DIDN'T have any Medical Coverage. This NURSE (WHO'S NAME WE DON'T KNOW) wasn't going to take ANY JOY from MY WIFE about OUR Newest Addition. If she was the BEST on that floor, then WE'RE GLAD that "HOLLIE" was Born at "MAGEE WOMAN'S HOSPITAL". If MAGEE wasn't a CHOICE, then a CAVE would've been more APPROPRIATE than LATROBE. This NURSE went as far as THREATENED to take OUR BABY AWAY FROM US bc MY WIFE was so AFRAID of going to the PRE-NATAL Check-Ups. She was so worked up & VERY UPSET bc of this woman. SHE WAS A SAD REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NURSING COMMUNITY.

My son was in an accident recently. He was seen at Latrobe ER. He was afraid and in a lot of pain. The nurse was wonderful with him. She was so kind and help to ease his nerves until he was seen by the physician, who was also very kind. Once they treated his pain, he was taken for some tests and the technician was cracking jokes and making my boy smile in a scary situation. I could not be happier with his treatment and the outcomes.

Great, quick service... My only warning for a busy person - I was told when I arrived for my appointment that if you book an appointment over the phone the time the scheduling person gives may not be acurate or based on the reality. Because, I was told by the front desk person, the facility is minimally staffed.

I have never been more impressed with a hospital than I was with Latrobe. I'm not a fan of hospitals because of the way my Mother was treatedThe care that Latrobe Hospital gave to my 89 year old Mother was outstanding! On the days I couldn't drive in from Pittsburgh, every nurse I spoke with took their time to explain what was going on and how my Mom was doing and I was never made to feel like an inconvenience or that I was bothering them. I've been to many hospitals for both my Mother and myself and have never seen such a wonderful group of people. These are the ones that I personally dealt with on the 4th floor cardiac department: RNS: Tammy, Brittany and Ashley, Doctors Putnam, Govora, Carpenter and McGaughran and Technical Partner Dee. You all are amazing. Latrobe Hospital and your patients are so lucky to have you. I can't thank you enough for taking such great care of my Mom!!
I never met the night RNS Rachel and Nancy or Jess, the night Technical Partner but thank you also for the care you showed my Mom
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Excela Westmoreland hospital took great care of my dad during his hospital admission. The doctors and nurses were always great at communicating important information, and I felt very involved in his care. The rooms at Excela were always clean and never had any visible clutter. The food provided to him was great and always exactly what he ordered. There is no need to go outside of Westmoreland county for a great hospital system.

My step father recently had a stroke and was transferred from UPMC to the therapy center at Latrobe Hospital. The staff was AMAZING! He is on the road to almost a full recovery. He is now walking and talking and regaining use of his right side. Thank you to everyone at Latrobe for everything!

Does coronavirus suddenly make patient rooms small...

Does coronavirus suddenly make patient rooms smaller? Because a nurse just informed my family that our family member cannot have a recliner because the rooms are too small? Therefore she s confined to a bed and permitted to sit on the edge of it. She s over 90, unable to walk alone, and doesnt have much medical sense or understanding of hospital etiquette such as a call bell. This is in a normal pcu room on the 5th floor which I m sure would not be denied a recliner under any other circumstance. Not only are no visitors allowed- but also no sitters are allowed for elderly demented patients but rather a baby monitor and a hardly working dial phone which can t even be heard on. Sound safe? I don t think so. Sound like fair patient care? I don t think so. No one in the hospital is on the same page. Extreme inconsistencies in the emergency room between nurse and the physician extender. Was told registration would be around to the ensure the facesheet would include the proper people to call- never came even after inquiring to the nurse and app on several occasions. Also lots of attitude from the admission nurse on 5th floor. Says she s sick of this shit when asked questions. Not appropriate to speak like that to anyone and I take extreme offense given she said it around my 90 year old grandmother who never curses. I m sick of covid too but you re being paid and employed to be a care giver. Sound caring to you? I don t think so. Waited hours in the emergency room to be transferred to her rule out covid room and all this despite being tested at a different emergency room visit 3 days ago when they ran out of rapid covid tests. Now taking 5 days to be resulted. That s the icing on the cake. If this post is hard to follow-it should be. There isn t a bit of sense this hospital has made. Staff is inattentive and down right ignorant. It s infuriating.

Tonight I had an allergic reaction to a medication they acted immediately to help me out I was highly impressed with the staff and nurses and docs. My nurses Melissa and Jessica were awesome they kept checking on me asking me if I needed anything they stayed with me when I was afraid. I ve never had such great nurses at any er. They saved my life. I highly recommend this place over UPMC

I fell and hit my head really hard and even 3 months later the right side still hurts. I went to Latrobe hospital and they gave me a catscan and said nothing is wrong. 3 months after that I went back because my head still hurts. Now, here's the interesting part: this quack, tall, gotee, dr, said to me, " u take baclofen? well, that's a powerful narcotic". I told him that it is not a narcotic but, he insisted that it was. He assumed that I was an addict. Next, he said, in a very raised voice, "DO YOU WANT TO DIE?? FOLLOW ME!!" he gave me another catscan. About 4 months later my thyroid started to bother me. Now my head hurts worse then ever. DO U WANT TO DIE FOLLOW ME?! Really??? Isn't that murder? Huh, if u r a dr, it is OK to kill people. So, if u want to die, go to Latrobe hospital? That's their motto I suppose. Unreal. Sickening. Evil. Wow.

Staff was wonderful. Very attentive. Very good bedside manners. Did not make me nervous about my surgery and was joking with my kids before the procedure. I would recommend Latrobe Hospital to anyone.

My son is currently staying inpatient at the adolescent department the staff is wonderful not only with my child but with us as well. This is his second stay in this hospital and I won't take him anywhere else. He received the proper care each time he is there and the staff goes above and beyond my expectations regarding his care. The nurses on the unit inform me if there is any changes with my son regarding his medication and are willing to answer any questions we as parents have. The social workers on the unit are also friendly and make sure there is a aftercare plan set in motion for your child. Thanks again everyone!!

Nope. I have had a doctor come in the room, not even look at me, and send me home, no diagnosis. Another time I had a bad infection from a back surgery, and it was literally killing me, but they sent me to another hospital because they didn't know what to do. The emt's taking me had to tell the nurse to get me something for pain, because I was almost in shock. I guess it's OK to pawn patients off, then charge them for an er visit.

I just wanna take the time to think all the workers at Excela Health Latrobe For taking great care of my uncle Ed while he spent his last days there in their hospital. A very special thanks to his nurse last Terri. She was very loving and caring. She not only took the time out of her busy shift to make sure he was comfortable but also that the whole family was. She also took the time out of her busy shift after most of the family left (almost 11pm) to get another bed to bring into his hospital room so his wife of over 60 years could lay next to him and get a good night rest while she continued to care for him his needs and all the many other patients she had. Terri act of kindness has touch our family especially Ed s wife Mary. The family can t thank her enough for her kindness and generosity. May God bless her and everyone else there with a very Merry CHRISTmas

Never do a decent job. Went in with cough fever head and chest congestion sore throat and headache. Was told i have a cold. The discharge papers have no record of my breathing treatment or dose of Motrin. I had taken 1000 mgs Tylenol 45 minutes prior to coming in for my feverand half an hour later they gave me motrin. I didn't even get to see a real Dr just a nurse practitioner. This is the worst place to go if you are sick. I've never had a good experience at this Er.

From beginning to end this experience was BAD! Sent from the Doctors office to the emergency rrom. Should have taken the time to go to a different hospital!! The ER process is riddled with inefficiency and the workers are indifferent and borderline rude!

My mom recently had to have lab work on a saturday. There was no waiting during the registration process or at the lab. My mom was very nervous as she is a hard stick for bloodwork but the tech got it on the first try. We were back out the door in just a few moments.

I pity anyone with any serious health issues who end up at this "hospital". 4+ hours for an x-ray, keep in mind that for the last 2 1/2, I was the only one there... And I did not even get my results back. Do yourself a favor and diagnose yourself unless you want to waste an entire day waiting for something.

One of my family members was admitted over the weekend. And horrible physicians attempted to attend to her care. I will not be recommending this hospital to any friends or family. It's a further commute but Pittsburgh has the best, knowledgeable medical team.

UPDATE: went into an empty waiting room
and was taken Care of Right away! The nurses and doctors were so kind. They made sure to ask about any and everything that was wrong. Loved the start! The guy who answered the phone could. learn something from the wonderful staff at Latrobe ER. They took. Such good cure of me. I was in and. out in under 20 min. They also made sure to tell Me to cone back if needed. 10/10 Recommend!

ER WAIT TIME: tried to call in to see if they were super busy or see what the wait time was or to see if they could tell me how many people were there as i wanted a bruise that has been getting bigger on my arm to be looked at. Called and was told i had to go online to check (the person who answered the phone confirmed he was at the er so I'm not sure why he couldn't just look in the lobby and tell me) After looking on the site i told him that it said the feature was down. He said he wasn't allowed to give me a wait time estimate or tell me if they were busy.

Horrible place. The nurse blew two of my veins, they said I m really dehydrated and moved my room and left my iv unhooked, the nurse couldn t work the bladder scan machine, she didn t know how. I ve been sitting in this room with a very distended painful full bladder, over double the amount of urine normally held in the bladder, waiting to be catheterized, while I hear them outside my room laughing and joking.

worst hospital i ve ever been to and i wasn t even the patient. you could hear the doctor making fun of patients outside of the room we were in. including the person i was there with. seemed like every nurse was literally allergic to being even slightly nice. to put it simply. i would never go here even if i was dying

My experience in here has been a traumatizing one....

My experience in here has been a traumatizing one. While in the adolescent mental health unit (4 North) the people around me who are struggling have been called drug addicts in front of everyone bluntly told them they needed rehab without consulting anyone just saying it because they can, and everyone has been told we are dangerous people. I myself signed myself in to learn coping skills and talk to educated people and have my meds adjusted, not to have someone tell me i needed to express exactly what sent me here in front of every other person in the room including children of only about six years old. I wasnt about to express my self harm and suicide attempt to someone who cant even comprehend it, and could potentially be traumatizing. Even arguing with a staff member can have you in room restriction or seclusion where you are locked in a cement room. Now let me ask everyone does this sound the slightest humane? And forget about it if you need things before your parents come to visit, your limited to one phone call a day unless youve been there longer where you get two where at most are usually a little less then five minutes long and only allowed at very restrictive times. Im not even going to mention the food this expeirience has left me traumatized and even more depressed when i came in
