Great college bookstore with an awesome variety of art supplies.
The products are okay but anything with "SCAD" written on it will fall apart in a week. There are also way too many over priced items. The staff are very friendly but I would look elsewhere first of you can (unless you are the kind of person who thinks an iPad is something you can grab in a checkout line).
The store is really nice inside and it does carry a wide variety of items from books, to computers, and of course art supplies. There is even a decent coffee shop. But it is way over priced and they only price mach with physical proper companies so not things like amazon or ebay. At least that was my experience. You can find books online for a 3rd of the cost (sometimes cheaper). The art store Blick is just down the road and has most of the same materials for half the price. There also is a coffee shop on every corner in savannah and most of them are better qaulity and cheaper to. I will give xlibris credit for the variety of items they carry, their location is convenient, and the staff is always helpful (when you can find them). Its just to much for what you get, even with the sales. I know this review is long but one more thing if your still reading. Those sale tags they have that say "our price" must only compare the company price for the item because even the sales prices at xlibris are more expencive then regular priced items at Blick.
Ex Libris Bookstore does not have books needed for classes. Half the time students get books from amazon or ordered through the bookstore.
People there are like little geniuses. They know everything about what they are selling. They also have a large variety of different things.
It s fine. I got my stuff mailed to me quick for SCAD. HOWEVER my final project paper came TRASHED and the two pads (one news print one drawing pad) came ripped and bent! So maybe don t get paper from here or only get paper from them in person. Other companies are much better at shipping paper
No one asked if we needed help. Found nothing we came for. Left.
The store is very large Store with three floors. Originally the lady at the front desk told us to go to the third floor and then a lady on the third floor told us to go to the second floor because we were looking for something in the fabric Department. After failing to find the item for 5 minutes a lady came and she helped us and it was very helpful. The place is a nice aesthetic. And has okay Fung shei. I am not an art person so I don't know art prices. But I think we got to transfer paper at a reasonable price.
Wide variety of art materials, textbooks, and SCAD swag. Also has a decent tech department (licensed apple setup). A basic university bookstore for an art school, but can be very expensive. Come here for niche textbooks and SCAD swag, but go to blick or go online for most of your textbooks and art supplies, because it s easy to spend $300 here.
They price match! Take advantage of this as their prices tend towards the higher side.
In the back is a place to get food and that is what my review is for.
This little cafe is average. My sandwich was tiny and for the $8 price tag I expected a lot more. It was pretty good but the coffee was not. For a little coffee shop it should have decent coffee.Overall a bit disappointed and will probably just walk the extra block to Savannah Coffee Roasters from now on.
Ms. Jean helped me solve a complicated issue with an online access code!! I was so grateful for her courtesy and ability. Also, the store is super beautiful and the staff are friendly.
Nice place to grab SCAD stuff, textbooks are a little pricy, but nice place to grab things in a pinch
Please do note: Ex Libris is a College Textbook store, not a regular bookstore.
Ex Libris is a fun little spot to hang out, for both students and tourists alike, that is full of interesting art and architectural features.
I m not sure what the others are talking about when it comes to prices. I find their prices to be comparably to Blick. Blick does have a larger selection of products, and it has rewards program. However, I find my self going to Ex Libris more to do the more convenient location.
Most of the staff are very kind, approachable, and knowledgeable in their field of expertise. If you have an art related question there is someone who knows all the ins and outs.
So very helpful, staff is very helpful and knowledgeable...especially with parents 1st time students.....
I'm not a SCAD student but they still had everything I could need as a student (I'm at Armstrong on the other side of Savannah). Plus the coffee shop they have in the back is phenomenal! Some of their own special lattes they have on the menu are very good! I'd suggest the Milky Way Mocha if they still have it!
A bit pricey, and terrible coffee. But the convenience of having an art/supply store open all the time makes it a frequent stop. Though I must mention that if you want GREAT coffee, just go to the Savannah Coffee Roasters on W Liberty St (a few blocks away).
School bookstore , good in a pinch, could probably get most stuff cheaper online
Their prices may not always be the absolute best but they aren t far off. The selection is better than some larger stores such as Hobby Lobby. I can never get everything I need at Hobby Lobby alone, Ex Libris is a one stop shop.
There are much better options in the area but sometimes they gave good deals.
It's a very cool store with lovely decorations but it's very pricey and a huge Rip off for something you could get at Walmart for extra cheap the sell ramen for 2.00 when it's just 99 cents
Wide variety of art materials, textbooks, and SCAD gear. A bit pricey, but worth it, given the large selection of SCAD items available.
My sister is a SCAD student. She bought 2 new books from Ex Libris 2 weeks ago but found out that her class does not need it. She tried to return but they said she can only return 2 days after purchasing. She ended up sale 2 new books and another book from last quarter, and total amount she spent on them is almost $200. She got only $22 back. The staff did not even confirm if she is okay with that price. Absolutely never go to buy book or deal anything with this store again.
A bit expensive but the coffee and pastries are pretty great
Every once in a while, they will have insane sales on SCAD apparel-- usually on opposite-season items. For instance, leftover sweats and hoodies will be on sale in March/April for 75% off. That's the time to go! School books are outrageously priced, but that is the industry norm. Go early (as soon as you can download your syllabus and required texts!) to be sure you get your book. They have a pretty good stock of art supplies, and prices seem to be on par with the other shops in town. The fact that they don't have terrible music playing like Primary does is a huge plus to me. Parking is terrible, though.
The best thing about this place is the location, even though it doesn't really have dedicated parking. The prices are pretty high overall, it's much better to go to the Blick about a half mile down the road. The service is nice enough, but sometimes I've been either followed around and practically hassled and other times I've wandered for several minutes to ask a question. The selection is really good, though, covering pretty much anything I could think of as far as art supplies goes.
Great service and I was able to get everything I needed
A decent selection but quite overpriced when compared to competitors
SCAD bookstore. Great gifts, apparel, and supplies. Big selection.
Great selection of professional quality art supplies. Nice coffee shop.
It's not a book store. It's a souvenir/arts and crafts store that has a small selection of books in the basement (which is not an exaggeration, this 4 story building keeps its books in the basement.
The selection is limited to the NYT best sellers list and scad relevant textbooks.
For what it is, it's fine. But what is certainly isn't a bookstore, and if it wants to be called one I am going to review it as one. In that regard it is a massive failure and a waste of time.
Really cool little book shop for some amazing old book finds.
Expensive place, only go here if you have to, good staff, nice place to have coffee
I had to poop and there was a another guy in the bathroom, so that was uncomfortable l
Ex Libris SCAD Store is something worth checking out in Savannah! They have great coffee, even the locals agree, and there is some great SCAD swag and art supplies of all kinds. I recommend visiting here for a quick morning cup of coffee.
Thanks for providing decent pricing for supplies for our kids/students attending SCAD!!
The staff is helpful and cautious, just the prices suck balls.
I was a little annoyed that they charge over $2 for a cup of black coffee, but they redeemed themselves when I heard that song from A Goofy Movie over the store speakers.
Typical college bookstore. Very pricey though, but not unexpectedly so.
A lot of art material on 2nd and 3rd floors, with helpful staff. Book store in basement. A coffee/pastry shop in main floor. Downside? Expensive!! Bookstore does have a book rental option. They also sell used books.
A normal college bookstore with outrageous prices and good selwction.
Good for collge supplies but great for art supplies. Very large selectioms but BLICK has better deals and a loyakty program. The cafe also has some very good quick bites and the staff in the whole store is very nice.
Some items are pretty pricy but overall I like their products and the cafe in the back
Fairly expensive but cool looking place inside with towers of books. They usually have items that blick does not. And almost always have the textbooks students need.
Great place with a lot of books but it was a bit too expensive for me
