I love the Central Library... Great selection and great people

Great place, I guess it's pretty much a homeless shelter though. Went here on a Saturday afternoon and although they have a huge catalogue of items, it was hard to not notice that 50%+ of the people in there were homeless men sleeping. Idk, it definitely is a bad look for the city in my opinion.

The central library is enormous. They have a vast resource of books and articles for all age groups. Since I went with my kid I will talk about the kid section. One word. Fantastic!
More words... They have a wooden tower at the end of the children's section with a hide out place inside. My son liked it a lot. You can sit there and read stories to your kids.
The librarians don't mind kids running around in the kid's section which I appreciate a lot. Parents do not have to restrict the kids unnecessarily.
The story time was awesome too. Ms.Ruth Ann, the librarian was really good with kids. She can read any story with the needed expression and voice modulation.
Only change I would suggest is to have more green around the library and even inside.

What a great place to have in Evansville! Very well done, extensive resources and selection, knowledgeable staff, officer for safety, great for cyclers. There is no vending but water fountains are available

Terrible selection. I always seem to be doing interlibrary loan. Perfect library if you are in the year 1978.

It s a fine public library. Some people don t like the homeless that loiter around the place, but you have to expect that in a public library. I found Pumping Iron on VHS here back in 2006, so 5 stars.

If you're looking for a book, central probably has it. The breadth of their selection is considerably large considering other Evansville libraries. The library tends to be a bit loud because so many locals hangout in there on their phones (sometimes video chatting or watching YouTube without headphones). Also, I've been in there several times and had to grab the officer on duty because there was a fight (yes, INSIDE the library). Fortunately, the library has quite study rooms that are pretty cool. Very serene and it gives you a nice view.

Central Library is the most impressive and expansive branch in the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library System. The collection surpasses expectations, and the staff is always ready to help. Plus, the meeting rooms are high tech and free for non-profit use! Having traveled quite a bit, I can honestly say that our public library system surpasses many systems in cities our size and larger.

I could not be more thrilled with our library system. They are open to the public and are so helpful! I am delighted to live in a city that has such a wonderful group of experts to assist us.

The area for children is excellent. Mine love the boat and activities in the back. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Very friendly staff, plenty of charging stations, clean and well lit, and Evansville police to keep everything friendly.

The internet here is nothing short of garbage. A nightmare.

Great selection of pretty much anything that interests you and anything that you might not think you need like repair books and other self-help books. They have it all. I love this place.

This is my favorite branch of the Evansville public libraries.

Nice large library. Comfortable seating and nice atmosphere. Police on premises , parking lot on street level and below. Also computers for public use and study areas.

I truly hate the desk attendants service at times. They never answer questions fully. And I also got ripped $30 at the ATM one day.

Example researching Indian history , they had and area with over 300 books ,writing etc.documents of historic Indian writers

Central library is one of the most relaxing places to go in order to think and curl up with a good book.

Since my children have been young, we've visited Central and have always loved the creative atmosphere.

The library is clean, the staff helpful and friendly and seem to be eager to help when needed.

The children's area is a safe and quiet area with computers and a seating area for children in the back.

Evansville, IN Central Library staff is continuously working on projects for the children in the community to bring little minds to brighter places.

There's also a giant ship for those daring souls brave enough to set sail in a library with imaginations that will take them to places only known to the children themselves.

I LOVE Evansville, IN Central Library, the atmosphere, staff, and all the great ideas and blossoming people who have come from this establishment.
