Superb space for intimate shows.. Booker knows their stuff, bar is awesome and pizza is tops! Use the valet!
First time, fun spot. Initially a bit difficult to spot from the street - look for Union Pizza, and enter via that door. The acoustics are decent, and the crowd on the night that I went was very local and very friendly. I'll be back!
Needed this info!
Singer, Brenda Starr
Great local music venue with serious quality national acts, good seating, sightlines and acoustics. They have a great beer list, craft cocktails, and reasonable prices. My only complaint is no dance floor.
This is a small and intimate space to see and hear your favorite artist. Getting a reserved seats up front is so worth it.
Great place to see a show. Very intimate with awesome acoustics. Not a bad seat in the place. There are a few single bathrooms, however. The lines can get long.
One of my favorite venues!!! Please bring back Cecile McLorin Salvant!!!
One of the best small venues you will find. Just ask the musicians.
A smaller intimate arena for artists of music and other talents. Has a pizzaria connected to the front of theatre. Food is very good. You can take it into the staging area. There are small tables reserved, and guaranteed seats, there are also general seats areas. Nice staff. There is a bar in the staging area. Tables are small cabaret style. Parking on street. Metered but free on Sundays. Garage across the street. First visit. Will return.
Intimate setting, great place to hear and see a show. Like visiting with the band
Small venue and the band actually walks through the crowd to get to the stage.
Great venue! Small and intimate, and the best accoustics! It never disappoints
I drove past the place a few times before I realized where it was. I could not for the life of me find a sign.
Live music! Nice and quaint spot. It is located in a Dine in restaurant. The food is great by the way. Great place for date night.
What an incredible venue to see quality music! The acoustics and atmosphere are great. My wife and I did dinner at the connected pizza joint and loved it as well. We've been here multiple times and will be back hopefully many more (especially whenever Martin Sexton is in town).
Tiny little dive in the back of a pizza place. I had a good time.
Small and intimate concert venue. They always have a good line up of Indie, and less commercial acts. The interior is simple but beautiful. It's one of my favorite places right outside Chicago.
A small venue with big name artists, sound and amazing atmosphere
Great performance space! The staff were remarkable and eager to serve in any way they could!
Great venue, but seating could be more spaced out.
Took my family to see Stacey Kent here earlier this year. Very easy online tickets, easy parking and a very intimate venue. The sound quality/tonality was superb. I can't imagine a better place to see any small jazz ensemble. We had pizza and the area is clean and safe. Heading back this fall to see the English Beat! Great variety of entertainment in such a small venue. Love it.
Update! The English Beat show was brilliant except for the entitled rich asses who got drunk in the middle of the dance floor and acted like fools. Probably time for a two drink limit.
Great small venue with great sound & a fabulous variety of musicians
Brilliant venue for acoustic and jazz acts. A bit loud if it's an amplified band. Linked to the Union Pizzeria, so pizzas are a strong point for food. Different drink menu for Space than Union.
Space is an intimate venue where you feel truly connected with the artist(s) on stage.
Great venue. Lots of space to dance. Nice wait staff. Convenient location to me. Saw Liquid Soul there. They were great as always. I will definitely go back.
Great space, amazing food next door, amazing servers. Such a good venue for the Moth.
The best place in Evanston to see a show, if what you care about is an intimate venue where you can really hear every detail of a performance.
Great place to see a show. Probably does not hold more than 150.
Awesome spot to see a show. Fantastic cocktails at the bar.
Best intimate music venue in the Chicago area. No bad seat in the house! Make sure to have the shrimp and grits in Union Pizzeria beforehand.
Really nice and intimate place for live music. Great pizza and beer too.
Great venue. Just be sure you don't get stuck next to or in front of rude chatter boxes.
Great intimate space with great view and friendly staff!
One of the best cocktails I've ever had, and my husband was crazy for the whiskey sour he had. We didn't have a chance to try their food (concert was amazing!!) But the pizza smelled fantastic and all the food we saw looked delicious. All of the staff was professional and hard-working.
Moth Story reading was great, but service from Union bar/restaurant for dinner at the bar ..was unfriendly.
Extremely helpful staff. I came in my wheelchair and everyone was helpful with the doors. Great acoustics.
Update: Gotta downgrade this a bit - why they would sell more tickets than they would put in chairs for a Moth Story Slam is beyond me. Getting there on time, having purchased tickets ahead of time, I and my party stood. Well, that is until one in the group who is about 70 decided to sit on the floor. So yes, small, intimate space, but don't assume you'll sit on a chair. Drinks and available pizza from Union.
Intimate venue. Great sound. Good views. Cool space. Reasonably priced beer & cocktails.
Nice smaller venue. Very close to the band. Great sound. Didn't eat there. Drinks are a little pricey but that's expected I suppose.
Best place for live music in Evanston. If you get there early grab some dinner at Union. Quick note: you can bring Union pizza into the show, so grab your seats and order a pizza. They will notify you when it's ready.
A gem of a venue experience! Always enjoy the show!
Space is a wonderful intimate venue to see a live performance! Loved the ambiance. Fantastic performance by Andrew Ripp! Had a great time! Would highly recommend!
Evanston Space is the perfect music venue for any type of concert! I have seen and photographed multiple shows there and I have been very impressed with the talent that they bring to the Chicago area. If you see a concert there, make sure to go early to their restuarant because they have awesome food -- especially their pizza! :)
SPACE is a relaxing quaint venue that offers great live entertainment. Union Pizza is located in the front area of the venue. It was nice for my husband and I to dine in and eat our pizza prior to exiting the venue. The pizza was delicious!
Love Space!
They have some of my favorite performers (Barrence Whitfield, Raul Malo, Tab Benoit) in a more intimate setting. Probably less than 200 seats. Cheap bottles, and reasonable mixed drinks. Union Pizza is right next door for some interesting small plates and cocktails.
Great venue with wonderful close view to scene from each angle of the room and really nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Great place, awesome food, great service, amazing owner of the restaurant, and very accommodating to people with food sensitivities! Trust me, this is a great place in Evanston! Enjoy!
Simply, Evanston's best music venue. Diverse and forward bookings bring national stars, as well as up and coming acts, to an acoustically outstanding room.
Good, affordable venue, with some great smaller acts. Only real downside is that it's so affordable you get people treating it like a bar and talking loudly over music sometimes.
Nice-ish place TERRIBLE customer service. Brutish treatment and total lack of flexibility.
I have been going to SPACE and Union Pizza for at least five years. They have a wood burning pizza oven where u can order the pizza to go and bring it into the concert. Every year they have stepped up their talent offerings and expanded their facilities without losing that intimate, fan to entertainer experience. Usually the entertainment comes out and has casual conversations and sells their merch. This is my number one venue for music! I know some of the talent who performs at SPACE and they can't express how wonderful they have been treated!
Saw Chris Green. You have to enter the pizzaria and go towards the back. Space has a bar in the back with good beer and drinks. You can order food that doesn't require utensils. Quaint place for an intimate set.
Acoustics were amazing in the intimate venue. Not a bad seat in the house.
We had my brothers wedding reception here! The Old Fashioned open bar was amazing!! And the food was delicious! The reception area was very spacious but intimate! We didn't feel over crowded there. I loved it!
This room has very very good sound but a small bar albeit with adroit service. I have always very much enjoyed playing low, up-close stages like this one where the crowd sits in a horseshoe around the stage with their boots and beers on the stage with the setlists. Every spot a good one both on stage and on the floor.
Great venue for live jazz, Americana and more. Bill Frisell solo and close-up.
Great pizza and cocktails. That's all we did. ZA and Cockytails.
Went to see The Moth on stage here. Nice size venue and convenient pizza kitchen up front.
Amazing place to see some great artists perform in a lovely, intimate setting.
Attended the Rubblebucket show here on St. Patty's Day and had an amazing time. It's a small "space", but the sound is incredible and inviting. Seeing a band with horns and a lot of energy is the way to go here... the vibe was all out party and it was a visceral, engaging, enthralling show! Rubblebucket is amazing. Thanks, Space, for hosting and providing such a terrific atmosphere.
The bar is right there so you don't miss any of the show. The bathroom situation is very cool - 7 individual bathrooms, all unisex, all private. The line moves super quick and everyone is friendly. Really just a great time. It's a hike from the city but there are plenty of cool places nearby such as Starbucks and Whole Foods.
Thanks again, Space!
Attended for a "The Moth In Chicago" event one evening. The parking options were limited for such a popular event, as is the size of the venue. All tables were full. People were lining the walls. Sound was great, however. The bar was decent in cost & drink selections. Not my first choice of location for The Moth.
Nice venue for a small concert. Good bar and service. Food at the bar after was really good.
Space opened the doors to a sell out crowd to see two local bands that just rocked the place. They should consider hosting local (Evanston) bands more often. I was at a show earlier in the week for an act from Nashville and there were only 24 people in the crowd.
Fantastic venue for live music. Great acoustics and an intimate setting.
