Terrible company with bad ethics regarding how they deal with customers and travelers. You d think that a travel agency would care about its customers and their experiences, but EURail demonstrated to my group of friends and me that they have no regard for anyone except for themselves and their bottom line.
Once you ve paid your exorbitantly priced tickets, you ve gotta pay for priority shipping to ensure that you get it, and even if you don t get it after paying the surcharge, they won t do anything to help you with it. At all. My buddy paid to have his expedited, it didn t come in time for our trip, and then Eurail wouldn t help him out with any of it and wouldn t reimburse him for any of the amount, even though the error was entirely their fault.
On my end, I received the pass, but what they don t advertise heavily is that when you re traveling through popular countries, you have to pay way more to even have a chance at getting a ticket. They do say, make sure you reserve your seats in these popular countries , but they don t tell you that once you ve already paid your hundreds of dollars for the pass, you ve now got to spend $50+ to reserve a seat on the train. Oh! And then even if you reserve three days or more in advance, like they recommend, they won t even be able to get you a seat 90% the time.
When we were in Spain, we attempted booking 4 different trains, all within the train threshold time (at least 3 days in advance) that they d requested. We thought we d be set, but then they emailed us a day and a half before our train (a couple of the times only hours before our train was supposed to depart) saying that they weren t able to get us a seat on the train and we should try and reserve on their website, but wait! You can t reserve a train on their website now because it automatically prevents you from registering for a train if you re within those 3 days. How convenient that they wait until you re within the threshold to tell you that you need to book a train again that you can t even do on their website.
Instead, we ended up having to spend close to $500 more each booking additional trains and buses not with EURail because they fail to do their job competently and refuse to support customers in any way possible. I messaged their customer service and pretty much received the message (paraphrasing), that sucks. We tried our best, but you re not going to get any of your money back even though I bought 10 days worth of trains over two months in multiple countries WITH pass insurance and was only able to use 6 of them because of how terrible their service was.
I don t write reviews frequently, if ever, but I am with EURail because of how purely and absolutely terrible my friends & my experience was with them. I ve been fortunate to travel a lot and I ve had some pretty horrible travels in other places, but nothing as bad as this. I go to Europe at least once a year and this has been and will be my first & last experience with this company.
Total scam and sham of a travel agency company. You ll be better off booking in advance with some other agency, ANY other agency, if you want to actually be able to get where you re going and do it affordably and punctually.
Sure its a great deal to order online until you forget your ticket at the time when you fly out. Now you are forced to purchase a new 5-day pass which costs more than from online. You also have to repurchase individual reservations for each train. Save your money and buy one at the train station. And also don't bother buying a lost or stolen protection. They make you file a police report and when I went to the police, they refused to even help me at all.
Quality and Value, both are very bad. they are just earning money. Professionalism and Responsiveness are also not good. they are just selling ticket to the clients and after that they are not helping for any thing.
Worst choice for travel in Europe!! Avoid at all cost.

What a scam! Our son recently tried to travel with a Eurail pass in Europe only to find out that the bad reviews were the only correct ones. The pass was useless. The trips he tried to take were not possible to schedule, and the few options that were available had all additional costs involved. In order to make his other connections he ended up having to fly with a budget airline since Eurail slowed him down to the point of no return. Flying was cheaper!!
We tried to get a response from Eurail but they are now simply ignoring our requests for a refund or at least a sensible response. If anyone has a working contact number for them, let me know. This outfit should be shut down!
We had a lot of fun riding the Eurail around Europe. It was very affordable for us. The dining carts were a nice added touch. We only speak English and some Spanish and found everything very user friendly. The vast majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We can't wait to travel across Europe again.
Customer service very poor. Waited 4 weeks for response on delay compensation claim without resolution. Significant delay and costs incurred, however Eurail do not seem to care.
Passes do not offer travellers protection in the event of delays and having to arrange expensive alternatives.
Positives: Was able to send eurail passes to our accommodation with no issue. Mostly cost effective for our 6week trip.
Negatives: It s 2019 and we re using paper, why not a QR code or proper e-ticket? We have to handwrite each origin/destination. Ticket doesn t fit in our pocket easily. Ticket admin didn t properly activate our ticket and copped an aggressive fine from an Italian inspector.
Website is useless, constantly getting logged off.
They no longer send the mailed in passes back - what a shame. I had a lot of memories connected with the the pass. I wasn't even interested in the gift.
