This was my 3rd visit to la porte grecque, very disappointed. The first two times were on a busy Saturday night , the service was exceptional and the food was very good and fresh. This 3rd experience on a Tuesday night was a nightmare, their were 2 employees running the restaurant, one in the kitchen the other serving tables, the waitress seemed very overwhelmed. We were a group of 10, not one person enjoyed their meal , we all felt as if we had been served leftovers that seemed to have been microwaved. I dont think any of us will ever be back. I almost forgot to mention about the owner lurking nearby, not a pleasant atmosphere.

Really delicious food with good quality and good prices. My suggestion goes for Lamb-chops and filet-mignon.
The restaurant is not far from riverside and nice nature reserves like Ile Bizard which I added it's photo to this review.
Summer time you can enjoy the outdoor space and nice green environment around the restaurant but be careful about mosquitoes after sunset time :)

We came on a Friday evening, we got seated as soon as we came, even without reservation. The service is average and so is the place. The restaurant looks unsanitary because of the dirty tables and chairs.
The calamari is perfection though. The lamb chops are below average, not sure if its the quality of the meat or how they were cooked. The potatoes are not appetizing. Good amount of serving. Price is right for the amount of serving and quality of food.

Generally average. Food was okay, good portions. Service was questionable. We got seated and no one spoke to us for 10 minutes before we got fed up and got up to leave.

Building is very old and restaurant is dirty. You feel like you're in someone's basement.

Service is friendly attentive and helpful
Food is well portioned and affordable
Great place with a nice romantic feel for a BYOW with your loved one or a big group.

Excellent cuisine. Reasonable price

Excellent cuisine. Reasonable price
Rustic decor. Caring servers. The only problem is the independent air, stupid and unwelcoming of the owner.

Not only were our plates cold, but the service is totally unprofessional. The waiter, from the end of the table, served and served the entire table by putting his arm in my face continually. I even hung it twice trying to eat without seeing it coming! Unbelievable!

I've eaten here 4 times in the last couple of years, and as you can tell by all the reviews the experience can be different each time. You could be on a cramped table in a noisy dimly lit room, or on a nice table out on the terrace. When the weather is nice and you're able to get a table outside it can be great. I've found the food to be average but the portions good and the prices excellent. The grilled meats good, the fish not great. I recommend you upgrade to the Greek salad over the included house salad for the few dollars more. It's a bring your own wine which always helps.

If you're inside, as we were last night, you may need the light from your cell phone to read the menu. Service was very friendly and efficient. On busy nights you can expect some delays but who wants to be rushed out anyways? The parking lot is often full if you are dining at peak periods.

Overall I do recommend this place to friends, and am looking forward to Summer when this place is at its best.

Hands down my absolute favourite green restaurant. Went to 3 other seafood restaurants last week looking for a calamari that would satisfy my craving, nothing even came close. Plus it's a BYOW so you have nothing to lose but yourself in an authentically green and genuinely cozy restaurant

The lunch menu on the weekdays is really worth the money. There is a good selection and my grandparents love coming here, although the soup tends to be on the salty side and the lamb chops sometimes are a bit on the well done side but for the price you can overlook that. Check if there is carrot cake because it's really good and usually gets sold out fast.

Food is average, service is slow and bad. They didn t bring utensils so we had to wait for 5mins after our appetizer was served. Waitress splitted our bill wrong so asked to correct it, she said correction isn t possible after it it printed. What a rubbish. Will never go back there, food doesn't worth that unpleasant service.

You can NOT get better value than Porte Grecque...quality family recipes and at reasonable prices. The terrace is a lovely place to dine in the summer as you sip on your own bottle of wine...Globeater highly recommends.

For the price the food was good, but with a large group don't expect everyone's food to be hot when it arrives.
I added a Star to this, because when going to this restaurant again I had the best calamari ever: crunchy crust and melt in your mouth interior, yum!

I went for lunch there January 25, 2016.
The food was okay,
But the dishes were not clean, twice I was given a dirty plate, with grease stains on it.
Then to top it off I was given a dirty, never was it washed coffee cup.
The coffee was black inside and the stain was coffee with milk on the side of the cup, Humm.
The owner excuse was that it dripped on the side from pouring into the cup, maybe true if the coffee inside the cup matched the brown color outside.
If this is what's, visible outside I have yet to imagine what goes on in the kitchen.
Please don't eat there, the owner has lame excuses for dirty dishes. We were given a free dessert and coffee on our next visit.
Well NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN.
I didn't touch the coffee.
Health inspector needs to pay them a visit.

We have visited this restaurant many times with a group of up to 12 people. This time, we were put upstairs (no surprise there, since our group was 14 people) but our table was set for 12 and we had 14 people (2 came unannounced and our waiter did his best). The 6 small tables were inadequate, considering that the end adjoined the very low sloping roof, and one couple gave up and went home. The food, after a long wait, was overcooked and the signature bacon-wrapped scallops were off the menu. It is always noisy upstairs and this night was particularly bad. We did not enjoy and will think twice about coming back.

The restaurant needs a major makeover throughout the return. Extra dirty rugs, blinds in the windows all crooked and filled with dust. The owner should retire, no interpersonal skills, it seems that we disturb him when we enter his restaurant.

The food was just ok.

The food was just ok.
I liked that it was BYOW though.
But my table found the waitress a bit rude. Felt a bit rushed.

Along the side of the building that faces the parking lot, myself and a family member saw a squirrel run up a wide metal tube and it ran in a hole through the roof of the restaurant.
Indoor dining experience with a family member. We were happy to be accepted, even though the Google business hours say they close at 8:30 PM (we parked at 8:25 PM on a Saturday night).
While sitting, you easily feel the vibrations of the carpeted floors in the dining area from when the waiters zoom to each section.
Due to pandemic, you are to view the menu options from your smartphone which is understandable; thankfully, we had pre-decided our selections before arriving.
Our male server was nice and attentative.
We ordered extra tzatziki, which is a generous portion, and the thick garlic toast, which is really a nice touch.
The chicken skewer (didn't actually come on a stick, nor was it pierced though) was splendid and moist. The pork kabobs were not as succulent as the chicken version but still good.
Our plates came with Greek potatoes (overcooked and oily), rice (I didn't like their recipe, maybe it was Spanish rice but I wasn't expecting this), and salad for which the flavour seemed to turn halfway through eating.
There was originally no music which was okay, but then in our second half of the meal, a staff decided it was a good idea to play their personal 90's hits with questionable non-dining lyrics at loud volume which did not make for good ambiance.
When he asked us how we wanted our bills, I said "separate" but he returned with all the items on one bill. A correction was made directly afterwards once the mistake upon discussing the mistake. This time, he asked us both which items we were each paying for.
My family member wanted to pay cash and I wanted to pay by card. The waiter told us that cash payment would have to be made with him and that card payment would be made with the cashier. The waiter suddenly left to tend to others for a good while to the point where it was getting ridiculous to wait any longer at the table. Just as we were standing for about a minute at our table, he did arrive.
The washrooms are not especially clean and the hand dryer is not worth turning on unless you want to go deaf.
As we were trying to leave the restaurant, at least three waiters or waitresses tried to zoom past us to tend to other clients or to the kitchen without allowing for a respectful amount of space or a pause, as if we were practically worth running over.
I do not foresee us coming back to this restaurant.
Their exterior dining is very quaint but packed without proper distancing.

Amazing gem in the west island, when Nikkos just ain't cutting it on the romance meter with your girl, this is the place to avoid driving to centropolis and losing your shirt or driving downtown and worrying about parking

Disappointing. I used to come here frequently and the food was always great. This time the calamari was greasy and heavy. The dish I ordered was no longer available (scallops and shrimps) so they offered me a full dish of shrimp. They were far too tiny to have been butterflied so the seasoning overwhelmed and flavour. The tzatziki and veggie that come with the table d'hote were ridiculously small portions. All over very disappointing.

Food is good. Atmosphere is fair. Service is variable from great to lousy. Take it or leave it (if you love it or hate it). The place is often packed, because they do provide awesome value. But the old geezer who greets you acts like you're the jerk for coming in.. I should call first to see if he is there. I'll ask if the other gentleman is in .(the younger guy) The establishment is a paradox of contradictions. Could be great. Message to dour old Greek, turn that scowl around, this is not amateur nite!

Must try! Delicious greek food in the West Island, trust me! Ambiance makes it even better and on top of that you can bring your own wine (which is a plus for me). Great price too for quality food. Cheers!

Really disappointing...I heard great reviews about the restaurant a few years back and tried it then...didn t like it. Decided to give it a second try on Sunday and really wasn t impressed. If anything the experience was worse than the first time. At the beginning, service was lacklustre and we chalked it up to the restaurant being understaffed. Then the service got poorer and poorer due to just lack of attentiveness. Orders came out of the kitchen (incorrectly I might add) and even with the waiter s apologies, the wait time for a new dish was too long to be excusable. We were told multiple times, all with new food requests, that the dish wasn t available. I understand that most restaurants only receive their groceries on Thursdays but after having gone on a Sunday, you d expect to be told that they didn t have a certain dish wayyy fewer times. After specifying that a dish could not have any pork in it due to religious reasons, a dish was sent back to the kitchen in order to have a new one in its place and the same dish came back STILL with traces of pork, as though the cook tried to pick out the visible pieces and re-served the exact same dish! The experience had gotten so bad that the waiter had vanished and we had another server tend to our table for the remainder of the evening. Simple asks such as water , came warm, and utensils kept being taken but weren t replaced. Waiting on the server took so long that it came to a point that we made due with finding our own silverware. The condition of the terrace furniture needs some major love, as everything was rusted and/or rundown.

A tip to the restaurant owner: authentic and rustic is only as charming as the condition in which you try to display it...otherwise it just looks distasteful. The pass should be monitored by someone who can differentiate one dish from another and should always inspect each dish to assure that it is leaving the kitchen in perfect order. Lastly, if a waiter is at the end of his/her shift, they should advise their clients so...if not, it leaves their patrons with the impression that they ve just given up on the service which is quite unprofessional. It s just simple dining etiquette.

Very oily soaked food and made made me sick
Served by apparently Quebec racist waiter who did know our food restrictions and allergies yet did not care and acted in ignorance
Do not recommend it at all and I will never used it again, first and last time for me
