Stylist Heather is wonderful. I had a perm, cut and style and she did it perfectly. I've had a lot of perms done over the years and Heather did one of the best. She listened to what I wanted and did it beautifully. She knows what she is doing and it shows. She is personable and professional. I am very satisfied and I highly recommend her.

I was in Moscow for a friends wedding. My 2.5 year old needed a haircut so I scheduled it for the morning of the wedding. We had Ashley I believe. She was super nice and great with my son. But unfortunately she didn t really cut my sons hair. I asked for a 2 on the sides and then for the top to be shorter with the front a bit longer so I could style it. She got to work but didn t really use the clippers long. My son is well behaved and holds very still for haircuts. She said the clippers get loud for the kids. She then worked on the top and I thought she would go back with the clippers. I had to ask her to go shorter on the top after she asked how it was. She barely cut anymore off. I then had to ask for her to cut around his ears. She never went back with the clippers and I felt bad having to keep correcting her. We left disappointed with no difference at all. I m sad I even had to pay for that haircut. Maybe she was new and scared of cutting a child s hair? I can t add the before and after picture, but you can t tell a difference at all. :(

I have heard great things though and I would be interested in seeing a different stylist.

Essence is the best salon on the Palouse. I had been going to the same hair dresser since I was in fifth grade and when I came to Moscow for college I would only get my hair cut when I went back home on breaks. I finally tried a place in Moscow called Canopy, the man their really messed my hair up and didn't give me what I wanted. After that I tried Essence Salon because I had heard great reviews. I've now been seeing Badria at Essence for about a year. She is THE BEST! She listens to what I want and really communicates with me to ensure we both have the same understanding. I also started getting my nails done at Essence by Liane. She does a great job on my gels! One time I had my gels on for over a month without any chips. That is saying a lot because I am hard on my nails, regularly rock climbing and weight training.

I love all of the employees at the salon. They are friendly and communicate very well with their customers. They are always full of smiles, offering ways to help make your visit more comfortable. They do an amazing job with cuts and colors and their nail work is top notch.

I called around 4:00 to see if I could get my eyebrows waxed and they got me in ASAP! I was greeted when I walked in and had a seat in a nice comfy chair and lobby. (Since I m in my 20 s a lot of places tend to by pass me as a normal customer or don t think of me to be serious or treated different) Heather was my stylist and she came up and greeted me and took me back! I had a great brow experience especially for someone who is super OCD and specific about my brows and she listens to every step!! Definitely am going to return to her!

I really liked my time at Essence Salon. I was really well received by the staff and Heather was very professional and so nice, she did exactly what I asked. The prices are super reasonable and on the cheap/inexpensive side considering other places I have visited previously. I highly recommend this salon.

Gordon was amazing! He listened to my concerns, told me what he was doing and why, and had great customer service! The woman up front was polite and the place was very clean. I only wish I had known about this place sooner!

I just had the Spa manicure from Christina and not only is she a skilled nail technician but hey customer service is outstanding. The salon is lovely and the receptionist was equally friendly. The Spa staff were very professional. I didn't hear any gossiping. The salon was clean. As a customer service professional as well, it was so wonderful to experience such high quality service. I highly recommend this salon.

Olivia is the best! She cut and styled my hair exactly how I wanted it, and introduced me to some great new products. She is very detail-oriented and checks in to make sure you are happy along the way. I will definitely be back!

I'm always nervous to get my hair done at a new salon but I will definitely be returning! Ashley did a WONDERFUL job with my hair and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. She is super sociable and the entire staff is friendly and a joy to be around. If you're thinking about getting your hair done DEFINITELY consider going to essense!!

I've been getting my hair done here for a while, and I love it! They have affordable prices and a kind, professional, and talented staff!

Five stars to the gal who cut my hair and the ones who did my nails. They did a great job but 2 stars or less because of their ethics. I had to cancel my appointment last minute because I had the stomach flu. Literally spewing from both ends (sorry to be graphic). As soon as I felt the sickness at 4 am I called and left a message. My husband knowing I was sick called a little later to make sure they were aware. The gal on the phone told him that they would let it slide this time because it was my first time but if I canceled less than 24 hours notice I would be charged the whole appointment. Firstly there was no warning, they have no notice and you do not sign an agreement so that policy is not legally binding (I researched into it because I use to be an office manager and to hold someone to a policy like that you have to have a signed legal document). Secondly I was sick... not just cold sick. If that were the case I would have come to my appointment. But I was sick with a very contagious stomach bug. Sooo if you re going to guilt me into coming, sure I can come but I ll get you sick, your other customers, running to the bathroom every five minutes. This is a poor business practice and ethically wrong. Part of the deal being in a business like this is recognizing that people miss their appointments because of illnesses or emergencies. If I had just skived off, that s one thing with a signed agreement but there s one missing thing: no signed agreement. So you ve lost a customer. I won t come back because of your business practices which is unfortunate because you have some very talented stylists and manicurists.
