A beautifully located hotel with fantastic views, no matter what time of year or day and, quite literally, a stones throw away from fistral beach, one of the best surfing venues in the west country. The hotel has a range of amenities on offer but to be honest it is hard to do anything indoors when the glorious location and vista offer such a superb place to explore and enjoy the ruggedly attractive North Cornish coast. The hotel is not much more than an hour away from almost anywhere in Cornwall (the Lizard peninsula takes just over an hour to get to but is totally worth the trip) so it could be a good place to stay if you are a bit more adventurous and don't want to be in the same place for your visit.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms are a bit outdated but clean and tidy.

A good place for a church weekend with over 200 people. They looked after us very well.

The night porter andi is the best one ever look after him he knows his job plus would run the esplanade better if listen too pay him better well done to him a rare breed

What a view! Stayed in the family room overlooking the beach. Room, hotel facilities (especially the swimming pool) and location enjoyed by all. Food variety for vegetarians was not great, but the overall service was fantastic.

This place is amazing if you are wanting a hotel looking over the beach.

Good and clean hotel with great views. Only downside was breakfast service was slow with lack of plates and we had to wait for them to bring new ones, they also took a long time to bring out bacon, sausages, coffee cups, milk and a few other items so we ended up needing to queue twice.

Informal hotel, overlooking fristal beach. Food was jus OK and room was a little cramped/dated but its all about the location

Luckily we stayed there only one night. Pictures you see online are so misleading, in reality it doesn't look anything like that. It looks shockingly awful, very dated and has a nasty smell inside. When we got to our room we been hit with awful smell, we asked at reception for different room, when we got to other room it has awful smell of damp and the smell was worst than in other room. So we thought there is no point to keep asking reception for another room as obviously they all are awful so we stayed in the first room.


Also breakfast was just average. There is nothing fresh coming out from kitchen.

This place has so much potential as it's in good location with amazing views but so much needs to be changed.

Not coming back.

A fantastic hotel with friendly and welcoming staff. They have a good bar, a small swimming pool and good facilities.

We booked a double room then upgraded to a sea view.. and the view was stunning!

It's a 5 minute walk to Fistral beach/The Stable, and about a 20 minute walk to Newquay.

I'll definitely be heading back to The Esplanade Hotel

Staff are so friendly and kind, the food is lovely and the rooms are very comfortable. It's very close to the beach so it's easy to go down.

I've just returned from my first stay and was very impressed. I was only there for two nights, but everything I needed, was there.
The reception staff were particularly friendly and helpful, the room was well stocked with tea/coffee/hot chocolate/biscuits and token toiletries, and great view overlooking Fistral Beach.
The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean and tidy.
Lovely relax area at the front of the hotel to read/have a drink and look out to the beach.
I will be returning soon

Nice views, cozy inside, great kids activities during holidays. The building itself is a bit old.

Visited it to see if it was open. We booked it only to be told it was under restoration. They offered is rooms in another of their hotels for more cost. Confirmed it was empty. Bit disapointed. We booked it for the pool but our upgrade doesn't have one that allows our daughter to use as she is too young.

Lovely rooms and staff, food excellent and plenty for kids to do. Reception understaffed, showers a bit ropey and car parking a bit rubbish. Overall a great place to stay

This is an excellent family base to explore Newquay. The location on Fistral Beach is breathtaking. The hotel itself is kept at a good standard of comfort and decor and it was constantly being cleaned. The facilities are perfect, including a pool, kids soft play area and even trunks with buckets and spades in reception. We had some lunch on arrival and food was good. Reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful.
Well worth a 7 minute walk along the coast to The Fistral Stable for the best pizza ever surrounded by views of the sea.

Had chicken kiev and it was delicious. Drinks fairly pricey but lovely atmosphere and great service.

Really enjoyed room, food, pool, jacuzzi, sauna. Happy, helpful staff. Great beach. Relaxed surf school on site. The best hot water showers in changing rooms... warming as you return from the beach. Exhilarating coasteering. So much to like. Thanks!

Good food. Stunning views from lounge and some bedrooms. Close to Fistral Beach.

Very clean & well presented hotel, friendly and happy staff. A perfect location over looking Firstal beach which is perfect to watch the sunset.

There a good play area for the kids and a swimming pool for the young ones kids have a good time close to the beach all had a good time

Lush hotel on the beach. If you love Surfing or just want to chill this is the place to be nice staff and extremely helpful.

However there is a surf shop here Expensive..

Fantastic spot got engaged on fistral beach hotel was amazing even had a freindly seagull who sat on the window sill ive already put quite a few pics up on there web page got thousands of likes on them already

Great hotel and good facilities, only thing letting it down is our room was in need of some maintenance and upgrading.

Misleading pictures to charge more money, do not come with big expectations...you get rooms which will be completely different from the pictures on there web sites, booking.com is not a trustworthy website and hotel will blame booking.com for all your disappointment.

Staff are very friendly. Willing to go the extra mile. The sauna and jacuzzi is brilliant. Excellent food and a great buffet selection for breakfast. 4 star only because the pool is a bit on the small side and can get crowded. Would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous hotel lovely room great food and very pleasant views.

Recently stayed here with a turkey & tinsel break. The hotel is lovely we had a beautiful room overlooking the bay. Beds lovely and comfy, bathroom adequate but shower over bath not great but for short stay OK. All staff were super, friendly, helpful and work hard to make your stay good. Food breakfast, a bit disorganized small food station buffet type so food although replenished you were waiting around. Dinner total opposite fantastic food beautifully presented and taste was amazing.5* to chefs. Pool lovely and warm but bit small and only centre area deep enough. Took star away as disappointed in T&T apart from Santa visit and a cracker on table, no Christmas atmosphere, very poor compared with others we have had, eg: Christmas night - bingo was the entertainment!! The most boring caller ever. Despite this we made the best of it, we would return but not for turkey & Tinsel breaks.

Very comfortable stay, and the breakfasts are fantastic. We would love to come back.

Unfortunately I have to give it two stars because of the information provided by the staff. We were told different things by different reception staff members and it ruined any positives that we had during our stay. The best thing was the generous helping of clotted cream that came with dessert. Couldn't fault that. But that was it for us. Sorry. Hopefully after my telephone feedback they can sort out the issues I raised with them and make future guests stays much more enjoyable than the one I had.

Very friendly staff. Rooms are great; only a bit small, but only to sleep and dinner in the evening is very good; all tastes and the breakfast is plentiful, there was something for every taste.

Great Xmas party up here, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Food was lovely and staff were great.

Lovely venue, we were at a conference, over 100 people, staff were helpful and friendly. Great views over Fistral beach and to the Headland Hotel. Very accessible for beach, with its own pool and conference rooms, we were adequately taken care of. The food was sufficient, tho seemed a bit bland, but all well cooked, so that's maybe just me!

Very enjoyable week, on coach trip, staff, hotel and food lovely. Shame about the weather.

Loads for kids to do, great view from restaurant. Not the best buffet breakfast but was value for money for sure. Great location for beach, not for bars etc (which is good if you don't want that kind of stay,).

Got rooms wrong, family rooms with tiniest bathroom in the planet, nowhere to dry clothes, dirty kettle, broken window we could not close as handle was missing, door handle in bathroom kept falling off, no air conditioning and immense horrible indoor temperature/climate in rooms and hallways, dangerous small steps throughout the maze of hallways with door after door to battle through, noisy bedroom doors in every room that you literally need to slam to close and a shower that sounds like a Harley Davidson motorbike starting up. All this and I am only 1 day into my holiday. Shocking!

Really enjoyed our stay. I wish there was more variation on the evening menu. Breakfast excellent!!!

Twixmas break with the wife, first visit to Newquay and what a lovely place !. Hotel was very good , room excellent and staff really helpful, v relaxing time after the hustle and bustle of Xmas, would strongly recommend a stay here. Can just imagine a stay here in the summer, wonderful. Oh and there's a lovely view of Fistral Beach!.

Cheap swimming pool but they don't provide towels for separate charge

Best hotel staff are lovely alwaysbaround to help out the food is divine and genuinely treated like kings and queens... only downside is parking unless you can pay for it you wont be able to park anywere

Nice hotel and family friendly with indoor heated pool. Close to the Fistral beach. Bit of walk since there is no direct access. Restaurant is not great, but good if you can't go around with children.

The staff was very friendly and the beach was right in front of me, so I thought it was a wonderful hotel. I was also kind to bring a one-year-old child. However, probably because the hotel is old, the footsteps in the room above were so noisy that I was disturbed by my sleep. It was noisy from 2am to 4am. Everything else was very good, so I'm sorry it can't be helped. We recommend staying on the top floor.

Wasn't here long only 2 nights so didn't see the hotel but room was clean,modern.
Got unlucky with the room facing tennis court as they have some heating system or generator on all night so couldn't leave window open.

Beautiful hotel set in a beautiful location, right on the beach front.

It's an ok hotel, but location is excellent, the staff very friendly and the breakfast's lovely.
