I booked a few classes with the school and then added more. It wasn't my first time surfing, but my level is a total beginner. Thanks to the guidelines and indications of Andrea, hilarious by the way, as well as pedagogical, I managed to improve and above all enjoy. It is hilarious and also shows a lot of interest in student learning. It has really been a pleasure. He creates a very good atmosphere in the group and his explanations hit the spot so that you can better catch the waves. The group of monitors in general is very friendly and funny, they take into account the covid measures (they do not crowd us), in short, an experience to enjoy and repeat. See you next year

I went to rent a board and the treatment was unpleasant at all times. When I asked for it, they tried repeatedly to dissuade me from taking an evolutionary table when I was clear that it was the one I wanted, but returning it was much worse. The board was a bit chipped on the tip, I don't know if it was something I did or it was already standard, but the worker who attended me did not even look me in the face and directly said to another "was this there?" and his partner (again without looking at me and miraculously remembering the state of each and every one of the 800 tables) replied No, do you know what this is about? That he couldn't handle her and he has been dragging her away . All this without speaking to me, as if I were not in front, and when I am sure that at no time my board touched the ground. The pan cork ones weigh much more and I have not had to drag them either. In short: lousy treatment of the customer who seems to be considered scum.

It has been 3 great days, the attention of the monitors (especially Dani) was great, he explained a thousand details and was very attentive to the whole group so that we could enjoy while learning.
Thank you very much to the school, I hope to return soon.

Our first experience with surfing and we were super happy. The teachers / monitors (first Alonso, then Ajan) VERY professional, close and always attentive to whoever attended the class (the ratio of each group per monitor was approx 8 people).

As points of improvement in our opinion:

- Sometimes we would get together up to 5 groups in the same area and it was crazy to be able to catch a wave. Especially when the other groups were small children, who always got in the way and made the task even more difficult.

- the subject of communication at the time of booking. In our case -mainly due to COVID- there were quite a few changes of dates and the price (also of the hotel that they offered us) that we understood through the emails was far from what we had to pay once we got there (+ 100 of the price initial). A somewhat unfortunate situation considering the hours of travel we traveled and the limited budget we had.

- We would have appreciated a little more information and indication, once the reservation and payment (in person) has been made. A detailed proof of payment, more information about the reservation of the Pinar Somo hotel, etc.

Greetings,

We have done a surf lesson today and the Monitors have been INCREDIBLE, attentive, friendly and we had a great time. What leaves much to be desired is the reception they give you, its director and the one who gives you clothes, they are among arrogant, arrogant and very rude. Encourage all your employees, because if they are like this with customers, I don't even want to think about the employees, who have been wonderful despite everything. IT IS A CASUALITY THAT ALL YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS JUSTIFIED WITH EMPTY ARGUMENTS.

I do not doubt that it is a good school but my experience was very bad. Out of the water all very well explained but once inside they left us alone, Manolo Trujillo the worst teacher I have ever had, we paid to see him surf. The rest of the monitors a 10. If it is your turn as a monitor, I recommend renting only the material, it is the same as paying the class to him.

For many years, I have been going to this school to rent the equipment. Over time, I have seen how the friendliness of the employees has gradually deteriorated, until this last time, where they have already shown a great lack of hospitality.

We were doing classes for a week and I recommend it 100%. Previously I had surfed but without classes. Only with the first day I already noticed a significant improvement since the next day I was able to change from a 7 'foam board to a 6.1' evolutionary board of less than 40L. Now I only think about surfing again. You can tell that this school has experience and knows what it is doing. I will definitely return.

Went there on my last day in Spain and left my driver's license as collateral. Forgot it obviously after I went surfing but they send it back to my home country without a hitch, am very grateful.
The equipment was good and staff was very friendly, spoke multiple languages as well.
Great service, five stars!

The excellent monitor, the very decent material, the perfect class area, but the antiCovid protocol we saw leaves a lot to be desired. We do not feel safe at any time (changing rooms, people, barefoot to the beach ...). As things stand, and in relation to the measures that most businesses have, it is necessary to improve a lot in our opinion.

3 years ago we started coming here on the recommendation of a friend and we are not planning to change. Its materials are of quality, well cared for, at a good price, they are fast, and above all nice, can we ask for more? Hehe
Really, 100% recommended, with a very good vibe always.

A hug to the whole team, you are the most

The monitors themselves advised against going to school in August, with that I think I say it all. Due to the great overcrowding in summer, the beach is completely taken over by this school and the classes are quite massive (by extension, there are many students in the water too), do not expect great attention from the teacher. Nobody assures you to have a wetsuit of your size or a suitable board for you, again due to the problem of overcrowding.
However, the monitor that touched me was quite good and did everything that the circumstances allowed. Of course, and he said it himself, that in a school with 40 monitors there are many others that leave a lot to be desired.
If you want to learn to surf, I advise you not to go to Somo, or at least not in summer. If you want to go to Somo and in summer, then choose another school.

Disappointed with the service. We warned that we were not beginner surfers, we paid a monitor for private lessons, and they took us to surf foams .. In the hour and a half that the class in water lasted I did not learn anything, nor did they barely correct me. Scarce anti-covid measures. To top it all, the locker room showers are paying 1. (I have already seen answers that it is because just 50 meters away you have public showers, it does not seem logical to me that you benefit from public resources being a private company.)
In short, I would not recommend my friends to come here.
Of course, the very nice caps.

This year was my second time at school. Two years ago I had a good experience with them, but I can't say the same about this year.

If it is your first time surfing, it is an interesting option due to its location and the material. However, this year, for my level, I have encountered a lot of disorganization when it comes to preparing the groups and it has generated people from very different levels mixing, making it difficult for the monitor to multiply and be able to attend to everyone. I'm not terrific, but I do like that the few days that I can enjoy this experience a year, take advantage of them and improve my level little by little because I have loved surfing from the first day I tried it.

On the other hand, that initial disorganization when distributing tables and organizing groups generates crowds of people at specific moments without a mask, since you are ready to go to the beach. I do not consider that it is easy to manage the elaboration of the groups, but a previous analysis of the total number of people of each day based on the reservations, analyzing levels and assigning a previous group as is usually done in ski schools would facilitate said management of the groups and would give greater fluidity and a reduction of crowds.

In summary, unfortunately I do not think I will return, especially since I have not felt that the organizational level of the school in a future trip ensures that I can have a group of my level that allows me to make the most of the days I have to develop my skills. To finish I want to thank Dani, my instructor on the first day and a true professional who enjoys teaching.

Zero anti-COVID-19 measures, they do not control the capacity of the facilities, the safety distance cannot be maintained and they crowd you with the other students both outside and inside.

Very good stuff. In introductory class we were touched by a monitor, Gianluca, who only limited himself to teaching us the steps out of the water, once inside he did not pay the slightest interest in helping any of the 7 of us.

I took 4 surf lessons for a week. I've never done a sport like it and I've felt great from the start. The instructors go according to the level of the student and as you progress, the instructor who plays that day tells you new things and improves your technique. I really liked the treatment and the service they gave me. The course includes the material that, by the way, is in perfect condition.

A little disappointing. First experience with the school, I had already surfed a couple of times in other schools. We chose an initiation class of 2h.
We were unlucky with the sea, with little waves, but the class consisted simply of rowing. They did not teach us to stand on the table. In the other initiation classes I attended, they explained the whole theory to me and at least then they let me try to catch a wave.
The worst thing was being paddling all the time and seeing other groups from the school trying to catch them and not even explaining to us how to try to stand up. The sensation was that being an initiation class they had us entertained for two hours, leaving the waves for other groups; and honestly since you pay the class I expected a little more.
I understand that paddling is an important part, but surfing class fell a bit short, it was more like paddling class ...
On the other hand, in other surf schools that I attended, if the day had little swell, they told us that they did not rent to surf that day and we could change it to another day with better conditions; and today that did not happen.

Answer: as a newbie to surfing, I hope that the school will tell me which day is appropriate and which is not to learn. On the other hand, the main criticism is not directed towards the day in question or the waves that are variable, but towards the teaching received since it seemed incomplete to me; I insist, it was a kind of rowing, not surfing.

We loved the school, everything very well organized even with the number of students there are, you feel cared for but they also leave you a bit of freedom to learn a little by yourself. In surfing it is normal to get frustrated and the teachers have helped us a lot to keep trying to catch waves and do more classes. A special greeting to Jose, Xavi and Manolo! We will repeat for sure!

I do not put more stars because it does not leave me this, delighted by the attention of all both monitors and the girls in the store, such as the possibility of taking professional and cool photos of you, such as the beach and the environment, the materials, boards and wetsuits in very good condition. The only thing that I was left with the desire to spend more hours but we will return.

I have been two days doing the intensive surfcamp. The best? The class with Borja and Pepe. If you are lucky enough to find them, in those two hours of class you will learn much more than you imagine and, in addition, they will transmit you what surfing is in such a way that you will enjoy like never before.

This school is VERY BATTLE. I have surfed in other schools such as Pukas in San Sebastian, or in Hossegor (I don't remember the name) and of course this is not up to the task. They boast of being the number 1 in Spain but of course it will not be because of the customer service or the facilities.
The extremely unpleasant staff, asking us the sizes of the wetsuit as if we had to know ourselves and treating us as if we were herds, speaking in silver.
VERY DIRTY changing rooms with no space to change and no lockers to leave belongings. All thrown on the ground. They have 1 hour to agree between the monitors on how to divide us into groups and you really only do 1 hour of surfing of the two that you pay.
The monitor that touched us, Mario, charming, very nice and eager to make people enjoy. It is with the only positive thing that I leave the experience.
NOT RECOMMENDABLE!

PS: If instead of dedicating yourself to denying all the negative reviews you have about how rude you are and focusing on improving customer service, you would do much better or at least you would not have as many reviews as mine. That reading 5 minutes you find the same ... a shame for the few who are saved. And unfortunate the responses you give to people, you are more concerned with deceiving future customers than improving your service.
I already expect a comment like: "you have a ticket to show that you have been"
Anyway, when the river sounds, water carries ...

Most of the instructors are friendly, but not everyone. I had a good time though the week I've been there.
I had the luck to be taught by Sergio. Really a friendly guy who also loves his job. Among the teachers he was the only one, in the five lessons i had, that came into the water and helped everybody to get better.

Pretty bad, they charge too much for what they actually teach you. The monitor once we got into the water totally ignored it. I do not recommend it.

The monitor was called Paco and once we got into the water he completely ignored it, it is also true that there were many people to try to get with the students to help them, but in that case you should not take courses with so many people or put so many people At the same place. It was two hours of which 40 minutes we were in the water. And the truth is that 30 euros for what they taught me seems expensive, because actually in the explanation they gave us in the sand well, but once in the water it should have helped us and did the opposite, it is more I remember that he said "yes you hurt yourselves, it is not my responsibility. "
