Escape Campervans USA Review

My best friend and I chose Escape Campervans (Aurora, CO) while we were in Colorado for a few days for sightseeing, and we'll definitely be choosing Escape again! I was great to be able to go wherever we wanted to each day and not have to coordinate a different campsite, hotel or airbnb every day of the trip. It was only two of us in a Maverick and we had plenty of space. The van itself was great and felt very well maintained and safe to drive. Everything was in good working order and the sleeping arrangements were pretty comfortable. We drove about 400 miles, which used about 1.5 tanks of gas. The pick up and drop off procedures were quick and easy and all of the staff was very kind. Thank you Escape!!

Loved our camper van experience! We rented the painted feather mavericks van found it to be the perfect fit. The bed is actually quite comfortable. The Denver manager was efficient and thorough getting us on the road and everything felt clean, safe and well cared for. Can't wait to rent again!

Just wished the milage limit would be more than 100miles/day. It gets very costly.

We enjoyed our first campervan rental and were very impressed by the kindness and professionalism of everybody at Escape Campervans that we spoke to. We're normally tent campers, but weren't looking forward to winter camping, so decided to try out a van. Bed inside was fairly comfortable, much better than a sleeping pad on the ground - and warmer!. Rented the rooftop sleeper which our 6 foot sons weren't incredibly comfortable in -- they said it was hard to stretch out. Enjoyed having the mini-fridge in the van - it held quite a bit for a small fridge. 1/2 gallon milk cartons - 3 of them; half and half; lunch meat; cheese; condiments. Check your equipment before you leave! We were supposed to have been given 5 chairs, but only ended up with 2 (didn't find that out until we were hours away, in the middle of the desert.) The company made it right and paid us back for 3 more chairs we purchased a few days later when back in a town - but a bummer to not have the chairs our first two nights.... wished we would have checked before we took the van from the lot. The one piece of information we wished we would have been told before taking the van out, was info about the tires. We live in Colorado and had to cross over two mountain passes going in and out. On the way home, Colorado's "traction law" was in effect. We spent close to an hour in a storm trying to put chains on the van's tires because it was real-wheel drive. We were told upon return, after asking a question about the tires, that the tires were mud-rated so we didn't need to put the chains on. We really wished we would have been told that at the outset - it would have saved us a lot of stress, time, comfort, and sanity. Ask about your tires if renting and find out if the traction law applies to you!! Enjoy your trip!

We had the most amazing time with our escape van road tripping around Utah, Nevada, Arizona and then California. The van was super comfy, we had the 5 of us and a tent. I would soooo recommend escape vans to everybody who would be up for a journey in a van that is easy to drive, has brothers and sisters everywhere, whom you can wave to and keep the family vibe happening, as well as everything that you need to be self sufficient on your journey. We loved camping with our van and tent in all the free camp sites around, getting out under the stars, cooking out with our stove and sitting around fires with the camp chairs that come with the deal. We had all the info we needed regarding travel and experiences of others if we wanted to tune into the escape vans blog, but we were adventurers, with our three kids and the fab stereo that we could plug into for all the grooves from Spotify, we just set off knowing that we had people to call on for assistance if needed but all went super well from pick up in Denver to the gorgeous girl that received us from the company in San Frans Isco, once again giving us all the info to get around to the best things that the city had to offer us. We were super delighted with the service, all that our van offered us with opportunity to drop off in another state and fly out from there, all hassle free, fun and adventurous. We will definately be going escape vans when we journey more in the states.

Cannot espress enough how amazing our trip was with our escape campervan. My husband and I had a two week trip planned to Italy for our honeymoon but postponed that due to the pandemic. We opted for a road trip to see the west side of the country for two weeks. We picked up our Big Sur van in San Francisco and dropped it off two weeks later in Denver. Both offices were so helpful and kind during our checkin and checkout process. We were able to change plans quickly as far as what parks and areas we wanted to visit due to covid and the CA wildfires. Staying in the camper van, we were able to quickly change plans as needed and still have an amazing time. We loved cooking all of our meals in the van and enjoyed the comfort of staying cool while sleeping in the van as well. Highly recommend adding on the kitchen and bedding equipment. Can t wait to rent another van for our next adventure!!

We have just spent 6 weeks on the road travelling from Denver through Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California and Oregon touring the national parks as well as Vegas and San Francisco. This has been an amazing trip of a lifetime with our 2 children aged 7&10 (who adapted to vanlife surprisingly easily)and we would highly recommend it. The weather has been fantastic and the sights amazing.

Second trip with Escape Campervans. Both experiences have been fun, without a hitch and great adventures. The Mavericks are older, but the Big Sur's are newer and accommodate a kid or three easily. Love this company.

We rented a van from Denver and brought it up on a weeklong trip to yellowstone and the grand tetons - we had the greatest time. Kerry at Escape customer service was super helpful... we had initially planned to pick up a van in Seattle but had to change our trip last minute, Escape had no more Mavericks in Denver so they gave us a free upgrade to the Big Sur which we absolutely loved. We had plenty of room for the 2 of us and the van was well stocked with everything we needed. Amy and John were super helpful setting us up with everything at the Denver office, and listened to our minor complaints that we had about being too cold at night and actually reimbursed us money for the inconvenience. I couldn't ask for anything more!

The van was super rad!! Pickup was easy, the vehicle was very clean, staff was super friendly and even gave us a free cooler for the trip (apparently a previous guest had left it). We can t wait to do it again.

We had a great time driving this campervan during our holiday in the US! This camper drives like a normal car, so you can easily drive dirt roads and scenic byways, like the Needles Highway (Custer State Park) as we did. The team is very friendly and helpful. Next time I will seriously consider to rent such a van again.

We had a blast on our trip to Colorado. Two of us rented one of the Maverick vans for a 10 day trip. It was everything we needed. The kitchen was one of my favorite parts. Being able to make breakfast and go or pull over at a trailhead or scenic overlook and make some coffee real quick was awesome. Sleeping in the van helped to block out all the commotion from generators or loud neighbors. A huge, 30 gallon gas tank keeps you going for long stretches. Not to mention the staff at the Denver location (Amy & John) were all great, as was Karen, the woman we dealt with over the phone to extend our trip a little longer. Overall, great company and a great experience.

P.S. definitely bring soft-sided luggage. You're going to have a hard time where to keep any large, hard-sided suitcases.

Great way to see national parks and hidden parts of the country at your own pace, unimcumbered by tour groups and rigid schedules. Drove from San Francisco to Denver via Yosemite, Las Vegas and Zion NP and would definitely recommend this experience to others considering the same.

Took out a van for three days to the Rockies...performed excellent in snow, fun to drive, the complete package at an affordable price! Would definitely recommend

We hired 'Skyfire' for 14 days and had an absolute brilliant time making our way round the state of Colorado. It was the perfect way to see this beautiful place up close. The van had everything we required and the bed was super comfy too. Would highly recommend Escape Campervans for anyone wanting to explore the super outdoors of the USA.

Absolute trip of a lifetime. The van had everything we needed and more, it was one of the best trips and John was incredibly helpful with trip recommendations and help. He often checked in on our groups progress/ well being. A very genuine company that I will definitely be using again in the future. You are doing yourself a disservice but not taking a trip with Escape because that is how great it was. Thanks for everything!

You don't know where to start on a review when the thing you are reviewing allowed you to realize how simple life can be. Me and my fiance decided to try out van life in hopes of pursuing this lifestyle in the future. Escape Campervans allowed us to see how that feels for 2 weeks... and to say the least we absolutely loved it. The van holds the most basic things you need to live in a van and it made us realize you don'y need much to function. We went all around Colorado (safely, bc being in a van allows you to be as distant as possible from people!) - Drove to Aspen and back to the rockies. The Van handled the snow at the end of our trip really well even though it wasn't a four wheel drive. Amy, at the Aurora location, was beyond amazing. She made the check in process so smooth and provided us with everything we needed to have a good, safe time. Not the last time using Escape Campervans, we're definitely going to do this again!

Amazing familly experience : it was our house during 21 days (Denver, Cheyenne, Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Yellowstone...). We'll come back again for sure. Thanks to Will.

The van was comfortable & basic. Fit a small pack & play for our 1yr old next to the bed (Maverick style). My husband is 6 1 and just fit in the tent topper. Tent topper was great in all weather- from the desert to the rain. Was a fun way to camp & travel- would love to rent again one day!

The campervan was everything we hoped it would be. The maverick was comfortable for four guys and it drove smoothly as well.

Escape Campervans left my daughter and her husband stranded in WY. They were wanting to traveling from Denver, WY, MT, WA and the transmission went out after day 1. They were towed 3 times from camp sight to camp sight and finally towed to Cody WY where they were dropped off on a Sunday in the parking lot of the auto shop and expected to spend the night in the parking lot. They just got the news that the van can not be fixed. Kevin who is the manager, laughed at my daughter when she asked for a full refund, reimbursement for the out of pocket expenses and reimbursement for the rental vehicle ($300 a day) due to the lack of proper vehicle along with any other out of pocket expenses maintenance. The van had 250,000 miles on it. Should have been retired along with the manager who obvious doesn't know how to manage a situation such as this.

We booked our van over a week ago. We received a confirmation email and reservation number. We bought our non-refundable plane tickets and booked our non-refundable campsites and then a week later received and email that our booking was no longer going to be honored.

What a fun experience! The campervan makes traveling hassle free and is a great way to see the outdoors. We took a big sur to a few locations in CO for a long weekend and it did not disappoint. The setup is convenient and allows for easy travel from place to place. If you have more than two people, take a sleeper top! The van is equipped with everything you need for a short or long camping trip. I highly recommend Escape Campervans to anyone looking to get out in nature and explore.

We had a great tour of Colorado and Wyoming in our Escape Camper. I'm 6'4", but found the Mavericks to be plenty spacious for comfortable sleeping. It was super convenient to be able to wake up, grab breakfast from the solar fridge, and hit the road early before the crowds got to the best attractions without having to strike a tent. Small enough to go where a car goes (and where RV's can't), but high clearance meant that we could take a dirt road or two when necessity or fun demanded it.

Had the car for 1 day when the brakes gave out. Had to get towed back to the place in Aurora and was charged $950 (also had insurance) for the tow in addition to the $1300 for 8 days even though I only had it 1. Wasn t willing to negotiate and customer service was poor. Spend your money elsewhere until these clowns can figure it out.

The van was great and the service too. Camper van in the winter though is a bit difficult in Colorado, all the campgrounds and National parks are closed. It was a bit tough to find a place to park for the night. We did find one place near loveland that had electricity and a toilet that was great . Great experience overall!

John in Denver was super helpful from start to finish. The check in process was easy and quick and they even accommodated an early morning drop off so it wouldn t interfere with our flight or the last day of our trip.

The Chameleon Van was great and had everything we needed. There was a little technical issue with the AC, but John and the Eacapw team was on it every step of the way and prevented it from interfering with our road trip.

Just spent a week, and 2100 miles traveling in this awesome van out of Denver, through Wyoming and parts of Nebraska and South Dakota. We loved the flexibility it afforded us. Was very comfy to sleep in, the propane stove and drawer fridge were perfect for us. Can't wait to do it again! Highly recommend! Vanlife is the good life.

An awesome trip and part of this success was the VAN!!! Very practical with plenty of space for storage it helped us going through the freezing nights in Yellowstone and kept us "cool" once back in lower elevations... The kitchenette is very practical. The big + for us was the small fridge hooked to the solar panel and therefore we could have fresh produce yet with no need to be plugged in. Escape staff has been very nice and friendly.

Spent a week on the road exploring Utah! Water froze in the van one night due to freezing temps, but the freedom to camp near hiking trails was amazing!

We had our escape camper van and roof top tent for 7 days. We had a great toad trip all around colorado. It drove great and was very clean inside. There was plenty of space for us which was 2 adults and 3 kids. The bed in the van and the bed in roof top tent was very comfortable

Escape Denver is a well run operation with great people. This is not a typical rental company - we had a great experience that was easy from the getgo and no stress; just what we were looking for. we became instant phriends with our coordinator, Alyx, who showed us how the van operated (seat->fold->bed) and then we were off to explore CO. no hassle on the return. van was solid. fridge works well. Ms Pacman was adored by all!

My wife and I had an amazing first visit in Colorado and Utah, and renting a van from this company was a big part of the experience. We were able to find legal parking every night (truck stops, national forest, blm), so no money spent on hotels. Pick up/drop off was quick and easy, just make sure your flight times work out with their hours. The van became our home for 8 days, and we look forward to renting another van from them in the future.

This was my first experience with Escape and overall it was a good experience. The van is well looked after and never made me feel like it wasn't up for the task. The staff at the Denver office is supportive, responsive, and friendly to work with. The only thing to be aware of is charges. They have done a lot of work to make you aware of things that you will be charged for, but they add up fast if you are not a mindful customer. that being said, I would still rent from them again. Great experience!

Couldn't have had a better trip.

I'm a first time campervan user and 100% hooked. This expands your range, increases the quality of time in camp, brings first-time hikers further into nature, and offers a great staging ground for any adventure. The stove and fridge really improve the quality of camp cooking, and I'll absolutely be back to rent again.

Amy, in the Aurora office, was great helping us understand how to use the van features and generally making our rental experience easy.

Escape campervans is a great way of exploring the US. It gives you the freedom to change your roadtrip everyday. Drive, camp, sleep, repeat! The colorful van is an easy conversation starter for meeting new people on the road.

We rented the camper to cover Rocky mountains, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and it was a good experience, since it is very easy to move around the parks with a van and the ease of not having to camp. It is very comfortable and comes equipped with everything you need to sleep and cook. And with a very fun design!

This was my second time renting a van with Escape and this one we had it for two weeks! With them you literally have all you need with you all the time. Everything is so accessible and converting the van to the bed is not hard at all between driving during the day. Along with all the amenities I live the hand sprayed murals on all the vans, makes them stand out that much more.

This has been the third time we have used Escape and that about says it all! As already stated renting an Escape won't break the bank (that's why we have been able to do three trips) it gives you freedom to go anywhere, still gives you the camping experience but with far more luxury, (as the bed is so comfy) but most of all, for us anyway, we got to meet so many different people. The van attracted people in, and the other "Escapees" were approachable. All in all a great experience and with all our trips we never booked anything in advance!

This was my fourth time renting from Escape and I absolutely LOVE them! The vans are clean and well kept, spacious, easy to drive and make adventuring that much more fun! The campers are easy to park too, making them so much easier to use than even my own RV. The staff is always friendly, as I ve rented from Denver, Las Vegas and SanFransisco and I ve always felt cared about as a customer. The staff is also great at assisting with trip planning and just give off such good vibes! I ll definitely be renting again!

Had an amazing experience with escape camperVan's in Aurora, CO. Alex took care of us and made sure we had everything we needed to have an amazing trip. I will 100% be using escape campervans again. Especially since they are going to get a 4x4 option. If you go in the mountains in the winter I would definitely get chains. The van with chains can get just about anywhere a 4x4 can.

Absolutely the best trip we ve ever taken. Our Maverick campervan was beautiful and sturdy as hell. She got us up the tallest mountains and over the bumpiest roads. The perfect amount of space for my boyfriend and I but definitely room for another person if needed. The bed/table is super easy assemble and disassemble, and the kitchen area has the perfect about of space. Staff were accommodating and had great suggestions and tips. We might never take a trip any other way! Thanks Escape Campervans!

Our Escape Campervan trip was wonderful! Will & the team were very gracios & did a great job explaining everything we needdd to know before we drove off. The van was so comfortable & the curtains kept it private when we were surrounded by other campers. It was great having the kitchen set up & I was glad we had the easy up option for when it rained. Highly recommend Escape Campervans.

The company was a easy 20 min uber ride from denver airport..Hubby and myself had the "stallion" for 3 nights...We had Alyx check us in ..she was very courteous and helped provide us with travel info- which was very helpful considering the vans are 2wd and with snow/ice on roads could be very sketchy especially on mountains passes (we had snow chains as well but opted no for that adventure)....check in was very easy and fast..Functions of van was explained very well- we enjoyed our travels very much !! We would def. Recommend and we will def.be using escape campervans again!

We rented a camper last minute and the guy in the Denver office was incredible to work with! They understand effective communication, client services, etc. Unfortunately, our first van's AC was not working effectively, and after waiting to see if it "kicked in" by driving around for 30 min, we had to go back and switch vans. Again, the guy there on a Sunday afternoon in August was INCREDIBLE, understanding, and helped us switch vans very quickly! The van was also perfect for what we needed to cruise around Colorado for a week. I would HIGHLY recommend adding the rooftop tent to have more space (we have 2 boys) and/or to benefit from the cool, night breeze and watch a meteor shower too! Enjoy your adventures!

Wonderful van despite some items broken on vehicle which I suppose can happen in rentals.

Friendly both in-person and on phone. Accommodated is needing an early check for a change in our airline plans.

Staff recommended dispersed camping ground on our route to Black Canyon NP which was quite and gem.

This is my first time with a BIG SUR and it was roomy for 4 adults and 2 of us slept in topper without issues.

Have booked another trip in 3 weeks!!

We loved our campervan. It was our first time renting one and Escape made the process easy. We had a minor issue during our trip and Escape made things right when we returned the van. I would recommend Escape to anyone.

Had a great time going one-way from Denver to Phoenix over 7 days. We went to Colorado National Monument, the Arches, Canyonlands, Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon, Sedona and Jerome, and Montezuma's Castle, to name a few sites. September is the perfect time to go, warm during the day and cool at night. The van was perfect!

Had a great experience with Escape Campervans (Aurora, CO)! Staff were very friendly and personable when we picked up and dropped off. The van itself was comfy for both driving and sleeping. I had hoped the refrigerator would be a little bigger, but it actually held a good amount for its size, much to my pleasant surprise. I would definitely utilize them again if we take another extended road trip!

The van was so fun to drive around, and so comfy to sleep in! Everywhere we went people wanted to know how we did the beautiful paint job.

We loved our Escape Camper Van experience, and would definitely do it again. Four of us - two adults and two kids - fit into the van at night which helped a lot when it was very cold and when there was a bear in the campground! Customer service was really welcoming, too.

A couple of suggestions: the van was really old (288K miles) and the suspension was very wobbly when the roadway wasn't smooth or there were cross-winds. At one point, I thought I surely had a flat, but it was just the handling in a highway rut. More concerning was the seatbelts in the back. They really weren't well-positioned for the kids' booster seats, and I seldom felt they were completely safe. Finally, the roof-sleeper wasn't available - no big deal. The charge was eliminated and we were given a tent for free. Thank you! But the sleeping bag bad were paper-thin, and pushed us into the van. Fortunately the van was very comfortable!

All in all, we'll do it again - just not in a Maverick.

Great experience with Escape Campervans! We had done most of the paper work ahead of time online, which made for an easy check in at the Denver/Aurora location. We were greeted, inspected the campervan, in the " Autobahn" and on the road within 15 minutes. We have rented Campervans all over the world and love them. I would rate Escape campervans right up there with all the others, easy to drive and easy to convert from table to bed. We love Escape Campervans and cannot wait until our next adventure.

Really enjoyed our Escape Campervan! We took a national park trip over the Holidays, and the Campervan was the absolute perfect size for my husband and I and our two dogs. The space heater provided gives off a lot of warmth at night, and the storage space was roomy enough for all our kitchen and clothing items. A special trip that we ll always remember and we ll definitely be repeat customers. Thanks for being a part of our holiday celebration Escape Campervans!

Would like to see then insulate their cold region vans along with adding ski racks or boxes for winter season ski storage. Otherwise wicked rad van trip!

I felt like a celebrity with the van . People waved at us , took picture of us, complimented us. All the way from NY to San Francisco and back to Denver . What a journey!!!! The van was perfect and sturdy . Drove wonderfully in all terrains. I felt so safe on it . It was truly my partner in crime . I wanted to keep it for ever .

We rented a Maverick Campervan for 23 days to roadtrip from Denver to San Fransico. (3400 miles). Really nice vans and helpfull staff. The van is full equiped and offers everything you need to experience the USA at its best.

Escape Campervans is awesome. We loved our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. Everything about the experience was easy. The folks in the Aurora office were great and so helpful. I just wish that there was an office in Knoxville, TN or Asheville, NC so that we could more easily take trips closer to home.

The Denver Escape crew was fantastic! They providing us with all of the information we needed to make the most of our two week trip. The van we rented was well-maintained, super clean, and a great 'design'. We would definitely recommend Escape to our friends / family that want to take a similar trip!

Renting an Escape can to travel around CO was one of the best ways I ha e traveled yet. The staff was awesome. The van Mille treated us well and we got to see and stay in parts of CO that wouldn t have been doable otherwise. If you are considering renting an Escape van, stop; just do it!

This was the best way to travel to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons from Denver. The van designs are smart, efficient, and effective. I highly recommend this way of travel both for convenience and overall fun. The staff are cool and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and do again.

I recently took an Escape Campervan on a four-day camping trip, and the experience couldn't have been better. The van had all the space, storage and amenities I needed to travel comfortably. We moved to a new place every day, and the van handled the transitions smoothly, maneuvering several different terrains with ease. I will for sure be booking again in the future. If you're at the Denver location, make sure to ask for Nolan Schiller. He was so helpful and made sure we had what we needed for a successful trip.

Our van experience was awesome! The customer service in both LA and Denver was great. Picking up and dropping off the van took a surprisingly short amount of time. The van was roomy, easy to use and we had no issues. Could have done another week or two. Will definitely be back!!

Great trip from Denver to Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park and back through Dinosaur National Monument. Van performed well and was a nice change to tent camping in the fall season - overnight temps to 28 degrees.

Denver staff were great to work with. Efficient and helpful. Check out and check in took 30 minutes or less. Very nice. Will do this again.

I rented the van during February and headed to the mountains of Winter Park and Fraser Colorado. The van was pretty comfortable and I stayed warm at night despite low temps below zero (-10) without a heater and I did not need to run the engine during the night to warmup. I had a zero degree sleeping bag and 2 duvets.
It was fun being outdoors and not in a hotel. We spent the days skiing. There was plenty of room to store the skis.
Cooking lunch and dinner in snow storms was fun but a bit cold because there is no overhead protection when the Coleman stove was pulled out and a table not available so the back doors had to be open and the van became cold pretty quickly. If a side table was provided I could have kept the van closed but one was not. It would also be helpful if the stove pull out had a lip so the stove doesn't slid around when cooking. 2 fuel cannisters were provided which was nice.
I spent 2 nights myself and two nights with my daughter. When alone I could keep the dinning table up and sleep on the open bench seat. With my daughter we dropped the table which provided ample sleeping room.

I was not able to use the sink for dishes because the water froze, so carried gallon jugs of water for drinking, cooking and washing. It would have been nice to have a dish pan available as an alternative. I was afraid the sink would freeze if I used it for gray water.
The van traveled well in the two days of snow storms we encounter. Providing a pretty fun shelter.
Over all I would like to rent a van again
.... It was pretty adventurous!

11 days of travelling in West USA. over 2000miles of joy.
We (a couple, ages 29,33) had the amazing opportunities of sleeping outdoors under the beautiful full of stars sky.

Cooking almost every night in the van and except for 3 nights in motels along the road, we always slept (great!) in the van.

They are super quick to answer emails\phone calls , very experienced and professional.

Great, friendly service. Easy transaction. Helpful staff. Van was fantastic! Highly recommended.

We picked up the "Santa Cruz" van in LA and traveled across Utah to Colorado. There were 4 of us so we had the roof top tent added which the kids loved. There was plenty of space and the van handled the long distance with no problems. Staff at both locations were very helpful

Great service, and we loved our entire trip with the campervan. Our van was ready early, and the staff at pack up gave us a full overview of how to use all the features, answered all of our questions, and even helped us with recommendations to fill in a few gaps in our trip plans. Would definitely use again!
