Ergo Architecture and Steve Mayman principal custom designed our Mission Hills, San Diego home. This was a start to finish project which they assisted from design and permitting until the completed project. Steve's attention to detail, and insight into what our vision was for our new home, made the project outstanding. This was a very difficult project that required someone with strong skills in dealing with planners, engineers and contractors, Steve and Ergo came thru. Still long after the home was finished Steve is still a great resource.

As first-time business owners, there was a very large learning curve when it came to making our building compliant with the city. Ergo Architecture, specifically Steve M. and Paul E., were our acting guiding light in this very complex process. They explained everything in a way we were able to fully understand. When extreme obstacles would arise, Ergo researched up to date building codes that eliminated unnecessary requirements for our business type. They always answered the phone when we called. They always kept us up to date with detailed emails and itemized the charges of their services. Their charges were absolutely reasonable and we feel they deserved more. We plan to expand our business in the future, and they will be the first we call for our architectural needs. They personally wanted to see us succeed and grow. Their intentions were genuine and heartfelt. True gentlemen. We have even been told by our city council member and building planning department that these men are highly regarded and extremely professional. I couldn t agree more. They have really gone over and beyond for us. I have no doubt that I would not have been able to stay in business without them. My wife & I hired Ergo Architecture with Steve Mayman as lead to design and permit a bedroom addition for my house in Point Loma. They brought in the additional engineers required and designed the addition in a few short months and then permitted it through the City of San Diego in 3 months. From design to permit in 5 months! Amazing. Their fees were very reasonable and their responsiveness was quick. I then completed the addition with my general contractor in 3 months. I had no problems with the inspectors that Ergo could not quickly resolve. We recieved final inspection from the City 8 months after first commissioning Ergo. That is unheardof. My daughter is very happy with her bright and roomy new bedroom. I enjoyed working with Ergo's Steve Mayman and his staff on this addition and recommend Ergo Architecture for those whom are interested in getting things designed well and permitted / constructed efficiently in San Diego County.

We used Ergo Architecture to design, permit and direct construction of the addition we made to our canyon-side home. Ergo s previous experience with hillside projects, successful track record in permitting, and generation of designs that actually get built were key to our decision.
The design process was thorough and expedient, generating several options for us to consider based on the design input we d provided and our project constraints (site limitations, budget, etc.) The whole team at Ergo participated in the design process, which provided a range of possibilities for us to select from. Meetings were fruitful and the process proceeded rapidly, as we d hoped.
As our project required both a development permit and a building permit, I was especially grateful for Ergo s guidance through interactions with the neighborhood community planning committee / subcommittees. Steve s insights and experience were invaluable at navigating permitting, which resulted in our project getting a first-cycle planning committee approval, despite several unanticipated hurdles. Once we advanced to the building permit stage, we were once again grateful for Ergo s masterful navigation of the process.
Now built, our house is the home for our family we d envisioned. I d highly recommend the team at Ergo for any residential project.
