It really does matter for seating purchases as to how you hear the music.
Last night ABBA pops concert - left at intermission due to poor sound quality in the hall. Crowd enthusiastic for sure - nice to see. Hall aging. Hope Calgary gets funding for art area upgrades. Next set of tickets Itzhak Perlman. Outstanding performer, we saw him 1st time in Calgary as well.
We were here to see a show put on by Fire Exit Theatre. It's a beautiful little theatre, seating about 200 between the floor and balcony. The chairs downstairs are move and wide. The built-in seating upstairs is narrower but my 190lb friend was comfortable. The acoustics are lovely, sound system is barely obvious yet I could hear every word clearly. It's attractively furnished in blues, greens and grays.
Decent place for a small conference or industry meeting.
BIKE VANDALIZED--I parked my bike at Arts Commons to volunteer for Wordfest. When I came out at 9:15 pm on Oct 11, 2016 I found that my bike had been vandalized. The frame of the bike had been bent. I think whoever did it was trying to break my lock. Security at Arts Commons could be improved. Perhaps it might be safer to park your bike at City Hall?
The Jack Singer Hall is amazing and has great acoustics.
Great venue with comfortable seats. Very clean and excellent acoustics.
A fine theatre for the performing arts in downtown Calgary.
I enjoyed the venue, but theres gotta be something done to speed up the bar service. Those lines are ridiculous
Incredible music and entertainment and some wicked, nearly 100 year old elevators (1920).
Had a great time at the Jack Singer for their Friday Rush Hour series. Great price for a show that lasted a little over an hour and a half.
Jack Singer is always great to hear the CPO in. Lovely evening. The place is a bit old but the acoustics are wonderful. I definitely recommend any music show in that venue.
Weird Al played here, more specifically at the Jack Singer concert hall. However, it's confusing as hell trying to figure where the main door as, as there's at least 6 different entrances to go through
A fantastic venue for the CPO! Looking forward to Handel's Messiah!
This facility houses numerous performance spaces to accommodate a variety of shows n audiences. Ive seen several concerts at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. It's a great venue with excellent sightlines. Easy walkin distance from City Hall LRT station. Do give it a go...
Acoustics are amazing. Restaurants near by for pre or post show food and drink. Not much selection of beers other then craft
An interesting place with many different (some family oriented) activity although it is not exceedingly easy to find where you are going(photo below of the jack singer concert hall.)
Great acoustics and environment. Much cozier than the jubilee.
Intimate setting where the audience surrounds on 3 sides and and is right up close to the performers in the Big Secret Theatre.
What is there not to like? A beautiful venue offering wide selection of music and theatre. Lovely and helpful staff. Spent many magical moments there with my friends and plan to do so in the future.
It's been quite some time since I've visited the Jack Singer hall. It has been updated very nicely with new seats and such. I enjoyed my visit.
I called Arts Commons multiple times to find out details about whether or not I could bring my EBF 3 month old. I could never get a straight answer. In the end, I could not, and they couldn't tell me when the show would be over. Although the show was good, there were crazy line ups for the bathrooms, the bar, and the seats were so close together, we had to get up at least 6 times to let groups of tardy audience members to their seats. It made for a pretty disappointing night out.
