NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. One of the worst experience I have ever had with a company. My neighbor actually contacted Elcar for a rear fence. Our problems started before the work began. I was having a property line dispute with the neighbor who contracted Elcar. Our lawyers agreed that I could have Elcar come out and show me exactly where the fence was going to be placed. When I called Elcar I was told they didn t have time to show me and that they could explain the fence placement via phone. The representative on the phone completely lied to me. When their crew started working I told the foreman that the placement wasn t what we agreed on long story short, we ended up being told (BTW, I have all of this on video), I am not building this fence for you. Elcar ended up digging up my property, leaving a trench hazard along a 70 foot spans of my property, left huge dirt plies and were extremely rude to my household through the entire process. I read a review from another happy Elcar customer that said, don t walk run from Elcar. I couldn t agree more. They were lucky I didn t sue them.

I wish there was an option to give 0 stars. When the fence job was originally bid out, they said it would take 5 weeks to complete. It took over 5 months! During the process, my old fence was taken down and it was another 2 months before they actually put the fence up. My dogs had no fence for two months. The sales people are non-responsive and apathetic. It has now been 4 months since the fence has been completed and they still haven't given me a permit for the work. Please, use literally any other company if you need a fence.
Watching the news about a customer that has waited 11 months for a fence that you never produced. Thankfully there are companies out there that do the right thing.
Elcar started the job professionally but somewhere along the way they became very unprofessional. When called about certian things on the fence or about the repairs for the cut landscape wires they never called back. Elcar also half hung a gate, and said someone ran into it.... even though there are NO marks on the fence at all.
Kurt even had the nerve to ask about the signs missing from the fence for their FREE advertisement purposes. I just wish I would have researched them instead of listening to Haka Designs.
My uncle had me help him with his fence in Denver. We shopped around at some of the other places but we went with Elcar. The folks there were nice and the job got done. Its a nice looking fence.
I just called to let them know the American flag they fly in front of their business is in tatters. I was told, "We have a new one on order" REALLY? Totally unacceptable! Memorial Day is Monday and they can't get a new flag today.... Then my business goes elsewhere.
Original order with large down payment was on 2/22/2018. On 4/3/2018 the posts were installed and here we are on 4/17/2018 and still no fence. My concern as well is that the part of the fence that is still standing is not attached to anything and today I am watching is sway in the high winds hoping it does not land on the busy street we are on. I was told they would be here on either 4/13/18 or 4/16/18 to put the fence up and they were a no show or no call. When I called the office I was told that they would check into things but that probably no one would call me back as most of the workers were probably out fixing fences that were falling down due to the wind today! Hmmmmm. There is always an excuse why they have not been here, they couldn't get a hold of me on the phone (which I was told I didn't need to be home) or they couldn't open the gate and I was home at that time and was told that they don't ring doorbells. Be very cautious when selecting this company!!!!
Called them and I was told I would receive a call back to schedule an estimate. After a few weeks of waiting I stopped counting the days and found someone else.
Horrendous experience. Utility lines were cut when a fence post was installed. No acknowledgement of responsibility (despite photos of cut lines)and failure to respond to requests to replace the post despite promising to do so. No response to numerous phone calls and attempts to resolve this amicably.
Great product. Great fence. Awful customer service. I needed a repair on my fence and had to call 6 times in order for someone to finally contact me regarding repairs (still waiting on the call back). Elcar seems to love the big projects that pay out nicely but not so much for the little things for current customers.
I'm not sure if this company even installs fences anymore. I feel bad for the staff, as this company is sealing its fate by its ability to complete jobs.
Don't walk away, run! Absurdly expensive. Godawful customer service. I wish I could give negative stars.
Details: Elcar replaced several posts on a shared cedar fence that was leaning. Our neighbor coordinated the repairs b/c we were living out of state and renting out our home at the time, but I did speak with the salesperson once and I paid half the bill over the phone.
A short time later when we were moved back into our house, we had several questions about the work they did, and I realized I had never been given any paperwork. One of my concerns was re: staining - I had asked the salesperson to make sure our front gate was stained but it wasn't, the posts were installed very rough and unfinished (not great for a busy toddler who doesn't sit still for splinter removal), and since I didn't have any paperwork I didn't know if we had paid for those things or not. I asked our neighbor for a copy of the contract and she said she didn't have one either. She also shared with me that she had been pretty frustrated with Elcar b/c people didn't show up on time, made her late for work, etc.
I called to ask for a copy of our contract and to ask for a call from our original salesperson (or someone else who could answer our questions.) The person who answered the phone asked for a lot of details and then became defensive and irate. It was bizarre. He actually raised his voice and yelled that it wasn't their fault if I made assumptions without getting certain things in writing. Eh? I was just calling to leave a message for the salesperson...
I had to interrupt him and end the call as he was getting increasingly frustrated. He took down my information and (shocker!) nobody ever called or sent us any paperwork.
In the meantime, the other side of our fence is leaning and I've been calling around to other companies. As I get bids, I'm seeing how GROSSLY overpriced Elcar's repairs were. At least double the quotes I am getting from other companies that show up on time and actually answer all of our questions. It makes me ill.
It's a shame for Elcar really - our home is older and always needs repair, so I like to keep things easy and reuse companies that have done work for us in the past. I would have happily paid them a little extra if they had just communicated better with us from the beginning, and if their employees could refrain from yelling at their customers over the phone. And quite frankly - even if we paid for them to sand/stain, at this point I just don't even want to deal with their company ever again. so if it's not a huge cost we'll just have someone else do it.
Back fence was replaced. Neighbor behind us hired them. During replacement they tore up our sprinkler system on our side. Received a letter from Jeff Carter, Construction Superintendent. Letter stated, when Spring arrived they would repair the damaged lines. I call Jeff Carter on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 to schedule a day. He was trying to give me a song and dance about scheduling. He then tells me it would either be Friday or Saturday of this week. Great, I asked him to please call us the day before so we could be ready for them. It's also Easter weekend and if we needed to rearrange our day. Well guess what? Two men from Eclar Fence show up at our door this morning, Saturday April 15. No phone call, no confirmed schedule with us and they want to do the work. What happened to customer service? What happened Jeff Carter with notifying the homeowner your crew will be coming? NOT HAPPY AT ALL!
This is not the first problem we experienced with them during construction. Just an example of most recent problem. Be warned. Don't use them!
Mack from Elcar was very professional, punctual, and honest in my two times visiting with him on my property. He estimated a 3-wk start date, I called 18 days later to confirm and it the work was started right on time. They were efficient in the process and my horizontal redwood fence was put up in 8 days ish (posts need 3-5 days to set). Maybe i just got lucky, but I'm impressed. Mack presented Elcar in a very positive light in my opinion. Would recommend highly
We made a deposit of several thousand dollars down to secure an install date "the first or second week in August." Well, it's August 20th today and we still have no idea when our fence will be installed. Too bad if we had any plans to get away this month. No one from Elcar has bothered to reach out to us, all of our communications with them since they took our money has been initiated by us. And, there is no accountability at this company's office, all calls are referred to the salespeople for resolution--and their salespeople are not held to any standard of accountability either, as they take their cues from the owners of the company. So, while we see many well built Elcar fences in our neighborhood, we think they are highly indifferent to their customers when it comes to follow through on their commitments. Next stop will be the Better Business Bureau, we are pretty fed up with being ignored by Elcar Fence. There are plenty of good, responsive fence companies out there, we would advise you to do business with them and NOT Elcar.
License plate 467FAZ 3:40 PM 5/24/18 caught them littering on S Parker Rd. If their workers have no respect for our streets I don t believe they ll have respect for your house.
You would have to be insane to hire this company. A 2.5 on google reviews???? that says it all They did my neighbors fence and were below awful. The 20 year old fence looked better than the new one. They left trash and old fencing on park property and on mine. They put a post in the wrong place so a shared gate no longer closes. They didn't fix the areas they dug up and cut roots to several shrubs that died as a result. My family owns a contracting company and if any of my employees did such a shameful job they wouldn't have a job next week. I mean have you ever seen so many disgraceful reviews for a company???? Clearly I'm not the only one who had such a miserable experience with this shameful company. I have no idea how they're still in business, they obviously shouldn't be. If you hire this company you might need your head examined
1966 Elcar intalled our chain link fence in Boulder almost 50 years with no problems. Recently was torn out and replaced with a wooden one by someone else, sure it wont last long.
Worst experience from a business in a long time. Not only did they forget to include a very important piece of the fence in their estimate, they denied having known about it. Myself, a coworker, and my wife all witnessed the conversation they are denying. We signed the contract in April. They started the fence install 2 months ago. Week after week I have to call and ask why they are not working on it. No calls to me as to why... I have to call. The last excuse was "I do not have an answer". I have called the company 4 times and left messages with a person wishing to speak with a manager or owner. Not once have I got a call back. I recommend going somewhere else.
My family got a gate installed about a year ago and it doesn t work. For about a week it was fine and opened easily. Now it takes about 10 minutes to wrestle it open or closed. You practically have to lift the entire portion of fence around it to get it to budge. I have cut my hand numerous times on the handle trying to life up the stupid thing. I never write bad reviews but my experience with this company has been exceptionally horrible.
