Nice hotel close to the city center and a short drive to the airport. Staff were generally friendly and helpful, though the breakfast waitstaff were inattentive at times. Rooms were well-updated and comfortable. My wife and I did not experience the noise issues that other reviewers mentioned. We enjoyed our brief stay.

WE had chosen the XMas menu for tonight. After they had warmed up the ice-cold food, both meat and side dishes, and served it again, just as cold and totally dry, we refused to eat it. It was simply unreasonable. Then we were allowed to choose main course a la carte. This choice was really good and hot. The selected red wine (Shiraz) they had not available in the wine list despite not being noted. Alternative wine was twice as expensive. That is Nepp

Pretty fascinating that this pretty nice hotel is right next to dilapidated buildings. It's in a nice part of town though, relatively.
The rooms were great. The beds and pillows were amazing. The noise from the city was loud - dogs and music and fireworks... But if you bring earplugs you'll sleep like a baby.
The hotel restaurant was very good as well.
We had an issue where our bags got delivered to the airport with the wrong group, but it was resolved quickly with the help of the hotel and a friendly traveler at the airport.
Overall a great experience in Cusco!

Wonderful staff! Helpful and attentive. They went above and beyond to solve a problem I blamed (incorrectly) on the hotel. The staff works together well. And, nice ambiance. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. They will make you feel at home.

I was not staying at the hotel, but I went to have breakfast there because I was staying at the XO Art Hotel and because they are from the same network, the guests are directed to the breakfast of El Mercado. The place is beautiful, with a nice and decorated interior courtyard. The breakfast service leaves a little to be desired; the cheese was only replaced at the buffet after I ordered 4 times, the omelets came with all the flavors changed and the juice season is more enjoyable to see than to drink; Also because they show a selection of beautiful fruits, but they are not used to make the juices (despite having a beautiful papaya in the cart I was told that it was not possible to make orange juice with papaya, that that fruit although not of plastic was just decorative)

Great hotel, amazing staff! And the best breakfast in the world!! Make sure to try their pisco sour while you listen to some live music during the happy hour.
Beds are super comfy, direct with English channels and anything you need the staff is always there to help you out. Thank you El mercado for making our stay so amazing in Cusco

Ok... It's a charming place. Great location. Excellent people. But when a tourist gets to this 11,500 ft spot... there is some need for personal adjustment and the barking dog (all night) chickens (AM) fireworks, (most of the night), were not conducive to adjusting.

Had a very enjoyable 5 nights here either side of our Inca Trail hike. We loved it here. Close to the city centre, but quiet enough. We loved the Happy Hour live music, food and cocktails. The rooms were nicely presented, clean and with great amenities. We would definitely return here.

We chose this hotel mainly because it was the starting pickup and briefing location for Mountain Lodges of Peru's Sacred Valley and Lares adventure - which is a 5 day hiking/cultural trek around the area. As it turns out, the hotel is fantastic. Wonderfully equipped with a complete set of amenities, drinking water, free flow tea and even an oxygen tank for altitude sickness prone guests like me. The breakfast spread is pretty good too - with hot and continental foods, freshly made juices/smoothies, crepes and omelettes.

We only checked out the restaurant, but it has _by far_, and I mean, more than any coworking space I've visited in Cusco (checked out 3 of them), by far the fastest upload speed of any WiFi in Cusco: I measured 35Mbps.
Download was kinda slow with 15-20Mbps, but the upload speeds here are literally to die for compared with the rest of the city.

The only downside was that they didn't allow our little dog so we had to leave pretty soon again. I think if they adopted a pet-friendly policy, the restaurant of the Hotel Mercado would be the optimal place for digital nomads. Obviously it's a high-star hotel so the prices of food and drinks reflect that, but if you need the fastest upload speeds in Cusco, come here.

Loved this place, would stay again. The rooms are spacious and well done. They've done a great job keeping the old spirit of the building with warm modern upgrades. My one issue was people dragging their luggage down the stairs at 5am. I recommend getting a room away from the stairs to reduce noise. That's what we did on our second stay and it made it so much better.

This is a lovely hotel with an attentive and helpful staff. The room was comfortable. The breakfast is marvelous (hint, make sure you try their hot chocolate). It is a bit noisy, but then it is located in the middle of a city.

We arrived about 5:30 am after traveling for ~24 hours. (I can't sleep on planes!) We were offered a spot in the open-air lounge or in the breakfast room by the girls at desk on night shift (they said our rooms wouldn't be ready until late afternoon) but it was freezing and we were exhausted. When the day desk clerks came on, I sobbed and begged them for a room, as I could see people checking out. The girls felt sorry for us and not only got our rooms (just 2) ready, they also sent us to bed with hot water bottles! That's hospitality! Staff did laundry for us after hiking the Incan Trail. Beautiful hotel, very close to Plaza and restaurants. Since this trip, my husband makes sure to reserve a room the night before early morning arrivals so we don't have to wait. Same thing happened to us in London after a red-eye flight a couple of years earlier.

If we were going on looks or personal service, this hotel would get five stars. However, for the cost ($200+/night) I would expect to at least be able to sleep. The walls are paper thin with no insulation, and the design is such that the hotel is open-air to the surrounding areas. The surrounding areas are filled with dogs that bark constantly all night, and traffic (it's a city) that you get to hear in your room. I would run far away from this place if you like sleeping. For $200 a night, you can sleep like a King (or queen) in Cusco.

Beautiful hotel, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean with support comfortable beds. Breakfast in the morning had so many great options from fruit, pastry, cured meats, and made to order omelets. All around a fantastic stay.

Excellent peaceful property. Great location. Breakfast was really wonderful. Smoothie and juice bar was wonderful. Not a lot of vegan options but what they had was great. Rooms very nice. Our room did have odd windows (opened to a veranda below) and I don t think there was AC but we did not need it in August. Derive was great!

I love it

This will be a fairly lengthy and completely honest review... Currently staying in El Mercado after having my reservation moved from another Mountain Lodges of Peru property, El Retablo, after checking in and having a few issues with the room (strong mildew smell, dingy towels/sheets, and a less than stellar location). I ll start off by saying that the MLP folks who work at these properties have been friendly and accommodating, however I don t quite understand why both properties are rated so highly on TripAdvisor, Google, etc. The issues I have with El Mercado mirror that of El Retablo; there were several black hairs on our sheets and they are stained in several places (black and yellowish), the towels are dingy and raggedy (with a few blonde hairs here and there), and while the hotel is located a few blocks from Plaza de Armas it is directly across from a gathering of folks who look to be homeless (as there was a women using El Mercado s entrance as a shelter when returning from dinner, who had to be traversed to knock on a locked door) and an inhabited dilapidated building next door that seems to share a side entrance with the hotel (or at least connects to the side entrance). There are a few more issues such as a noisy shower and poor in-room temperature regulation due to the heating method employed by the hotel and what appears to be window-like opening in the bathroom that is not well sealed.

Can not be recommended - too much expensive - room 104 without windows to the outside! And very loud !

We were forcibly moved from the sister hotel "El retablo" due to another guest overstaying. We received no real apology and the move was sold to us as an upgrade but everything at "El mercado" was a disappointment in comparison.

The service was pretentious, impersonal and lazy when compared to the attentiveness and eye for detail at "El retablo" (e.g. Breakfast buffet not refilled, cutlery only provided on request and a generally inattentive attitude) . The room itself was acceptable and clean but the equipment was second class when compared with the 4k smart TV and other furnishings at the sister hotel (plugs didn't work, there was no window and the room was pokey and dark).

Upon expressing my discontent we were offered a free dinner in the restaurant. However when we went to eat, we were offered a very limited menu (from which the food was prepared poorly) and no drinks.

Overall a sad end to an otherwise enjoyable stay in cusco. Customer satisfaction does not seem to be a priority at this hotel.

El Mercado Cusco was a delightful hotel. They put the most wonderful touches on everything - chocolates on the pillows during turndown service, free infused water in the lobby, a customized fresh squeezed juice bar at the included breakfast with made to order omletes and crepes, and live jazz music in their homey courtyard during happy hour. The courtyard was arguably one of the best parts - it had a fire place, comfy chairs, blankets, and you could hang out there and have a cocktail and listen to the jazz. If it is too cold, the bar inside has lots of fun board games!! They also thought of everything: we had an early flight to the airport on our last day and we arranged for a taxi service through the hotel, and they kindly gave us a boxed breakfast for the car ride at 4:30 AM. Ambiance aside, the rooms were lovely. They were so well decorated, the shower was very hot and great water pressure, and we had plenty of space. We are so glad we chose to stay here in Cusco! It also had a great location - 7 minute walk from the main square, but very quiet at night. I highly recommend El Mercado Cusco.

Fantastic
