Edison: Food + Drink Lab Review

Excellent food. Not cheap. Crowded and noisy inside. The food was astounding, surprising, and a flavor explosion in every bite. Service was perfect.

Two drinks, two appetizers, two mains, one desert, two coffees: $170. But everything was perfect even the coffee, and we were stuffed.

If you can afford it, I recommend it.

So much attention to detail with food and presentation. Everything from drink, food to desert was tasty and amazing!

Server Natalie was amazing. Excellent meal. Great atmosphere.

Simply amazing. You know you've made a great decision as soon as you sip your first cocktail. Expertly hand crafted that either take you back in time to the Prohibition Era or something modern and fun. The bone marrow appetizer was delicious and highly recommend it. The Korean Fried Chicken and Waffles was a real treat and should be ordered if it's your first time. Try the Royal Tokaji dessert wine with Sugar Crusted Butter Cake. Looking forward to our next visit.

Very unique concept of food, but it all goes so well! trust the menu and also the servers are very knowledgeable therefore dont be afraid to ask questions! food was delicious,service was even better:)

Incredible food and creative drinks. I loved the seared octopus appetizer the most. Menu choices are all local and change constantly. Each dish, drink, and dessert blends unexpected flavors together expertly well.

Service is good, but not overwhelmingly so. Ambiance is very loud and the TV's over the bar destroy the classiness of the food. The leaking roof didn't help that image either.

Honestly, come for the food, which is absolutely amazing.

Great atmosphere, food, wine and drinks. Waiter was too notch. We sat and talked for hours, even past closing and they let us talk.

Very good concept with great food and excellent staff. It takes a lot to get a 5 star from me, and actually I would have given them 4.5!

Edison has the best food in Tampa. Everything is amazing and made from the finest quality ingredients. If you are a true foodie this is the only place in Tampa for you!

I was pleasantly surprised how great the food was at this place. For appetizer we had dozen oysters and yellowfin tuna. Tuna was spectacular. Soft and served with yummy sauce on a bed of julienned veggies. For main course I had scallops and they were literally melting in my mouth. Hubby got octopus. We got desserts, but I can t remember what they were. Mine came in a glass, it had a consistency of a mouse, but I couldn t finish it. I was full.
The one thing I was surprised by was that this place doesn t offer lemonade on their menu. Because I was driving I wanted something without alcohol and when I asked our server what they offer that doesn t have alcohol he suggested to get tea. Hmm... that s it?!
Also our server didn t bring us new silverware after it was cleared with appetizer plates.
Nevertheless, food was amazing, I will definitely try to come back.

Phenomenal food. I have been here a few times and am never disappointed in what I order. Tonight I had the crispy pork belly and mustard seed duck, both of which were amazing. I can t wait to come back to try more!

Refined dinning in a fun, trendy layout with a lively, comfortable yet classy ambience. Well attentive, friendly and menu knowledgeable waiting staff. Wonderful and awakening palate experience for those who can appreciate fine culinary fusion delights. Would highly recommend.

Amazing eclectic menu and an absolutely huge drink menu! I highly recommend! The service was phenomenal. I also recommend valet parking as parking is very limited in the area.

This place was amazing! The dinning experience was so much fun! We felt like we were enjoying a carefully selected five course meal, everything was flavorful, filling, and attractive to the eyes. The bone marrow was phenomenal, but not one plate disappointed, delicious! The staff was friendly, very attentive, professional, and knowledgeable. Would definitely go again!

It s a fun place to explore. Food are interesting, but a little too much citrus for me. I really enjoyed their potato oyster, fried to perfection. Drinks seems like very interesting, didn t get chance to taste since we were there just for lunch this time. Worth to try!

The daily changing menu is filled with unique dishes that will blow your mind. The food was incredible. A little pricey but definitely worth it for once in a life time combinations that you will find no where else.

Don't let the good reviews fool you. After we ate here and told our friends how bad it was, it's like everyone already knew. They all said they just didn't come back to review it. The cocktails sound creative but the flavor is off whether it's not sweet enough or didn't pair well with the food. The octopus appetizer had no flavor in the leg as if it wasn't marinated and then was dunked on top of what seems like Italian dressing. The cauliflower tasted good but over priced and way too much quantity for two. Very filling. The main courses were decent, but better be for $35/entree. Overall just overrated and wife was disappointed on her birthday meal. Atmosphere is gastro pub which is fine, but menu and prices don't fit

All food was delicious, as were the drinks. Glass of house bourbon $11, house wine $16. For two couples, the bill was $304 plus tip!

First time here for my husband s birthday. Food was great. Our server was awesome. Very knowledgeable. Stand out food item was the banana dessert.

Menu is always changing. They bring a fresh and funky style to the Tampa food scene. Definitely make reservations as this place fills up.

We went to this place while visiting Tampa and we were not disappointed. We even took the kids on Father's day and they enjoyed the menu as well. The inside was cozy and the server was awesome.
The food was delicious and not something you would find at just your average restaurant. The seseme tempura cauliflower was so delicious & spicy we were all in a fork fight to grab the last bite. If a menu has chicken and waffles, I love to try and compare because so many people do this Southern staple. I have to say that the chicken was delicious a little heavy on the breading, but the flavors added so much to the dish. We had no complaints from the kids either with their standard chicken fingers and fries. Their fries are hand cut and exceptional. I would definitely go back here if in Tampa again.

The interesting and creative dishes and cocktails made for a delightful dining experience. I had dinner with some work colleagues here and everything was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any foodies!

Service was great. Food was good but portions were small. I was still hungry after my entree and app. and didn t think it was price justified, but again food was good and service was great. Would return again but would snack before hand and go for apps or light dinner

Terrible service. Waited 20 mins for a server to come take our drink orders. Waited another 25 and still had not received said drink orders. No one bothered to do any service recovery or explain why we were waiting so long when other tables were being served. There are too many fantastic places to eat in Tampa, don t waste your money here.

We came here for a friend's birthday party which had at least 12 of us. They sat us in a far off room and had 2 waitresses for our party. We were the first to arrive and they were very helpful to make sure we were comfortable while we waited on everyone else.

We were starving by the time our friends arrived (they're always late) so we ordered an appetizer. The appetizer was fried oysters and they did not disappoint. I could've eaten that for the meal if i got about 100 more. They were sitting in this honey sauce that tasted like gold. It was so sweet and flavorful.

Everything we ate there tasted delicious. We ended up trying each other's meals, so it's hard to really say what everyone had. They change the menus all the time, so it's hard to keep up with everything. You just have to try it every couple of months and see what's new.

The vibe of the place is what I like to call "funky nerd." They have these scientific drawings on the chalkboard walls and Edison bulbs all around the place. It's very eclectic and a fresh change of pace.

Definitely worth checking out to see what's new and in-season since the menu changes often!!

Exceeded our expectations! Great ambiance, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the cocktails were great! The Kentucky Wake Up was an incredibly smooth cocktail and is my new standard for an old fashioned style bourbon drink. The food was great and they were very healthy portions. I would recommend this place for anyone ready to splurge on dinner and drinks!

Outstanding and very anusyal food but management and service improvement required.

Such a cool spot. Food was delicious. Bartender was incredibly talented. Highly recommend this spot if you are in town. The scallops were cooked perfectly and I also had the brown butter ice cream for dessert which was amazing. The bartender made me a delicious tequila old fashioned which I doubt I will be able to find replicated. Overall, this was an awesome experience.

Great place, great food choice, little pricey but beautiful location. There's a lot to do in there and it's great for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
Great place for a trendy casual date or just as nice going alone. Dine, shop or have a cup of Joe (or tea).

was there on Mother's day. Service was ok, but the food quality was awful. $40 lunch that was worse than a $1 menu item thrown together by a drunk associate yet served to you by a guy in a suit. Was that the part of a promised ingenuity? The only positive was that water was served in a glass as opposed to a styrofoam cup.

The staff is passionate and very well trained. The bar keep was very proud of his cocktails and with good reason his cocktails are delicious. The food was inventive, unique and delicious. Modern southern American cuisine. The team here deserves all the accolades that you've heard of. Strongly recommended if you're not tightly managing your diet or your cash! Really was a delicious meal!

Has some good and bad features, definitely overpriced. First impression was valet right in front of the door, small charge but rubbed me wrong. Prices are astronomical for what it is. $39 for a NY Strip, I'd rather go to 1200 for that price!

Some very weird meals and sides that were ok, but again not for the price. Everything is in some fancy twisted name, like calling hummus smashed chick peas. We had 8 people and it was $650. The bean soup was terrific, but we all shared and I was less than impressed with the sides as well as the duck.

I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 because the NY Strip and fish were good, just extremely overpriced. Also, Google says 3 is "it's ok", while 2 is "disliked it".

Overall my experience with Edison food lab was poor. My girlfriend an I had went to for valentines day and our experience begins by being told to go in through a back door from the valet which was unusual already. Everyone who was celebrating valentines day with a date was sat in a seperate room with small cheap tables that wobble and chairs that seem like they came straight out of ikea. I have read other reviews that claim that the food has increadible flavor but my experience was the exact opposite. The putine appetizer we ordered was great. The chicken and waffles were soggy and flavorless with an unchewable crumble on top and a stake that was severly undercooked from what we asked. The wait time between courses was also ridiculous. The food definitely did not match the price and the atmosphere and service especially did not.

LOVED their cheese board. I would go back just for that. The drink menu was unique, however I did not like mine. I would go back and try something different next time for the drink option. I had a fish entree and it was amazing. The menu changes daily so its a fresh new taste every time.

Last Sunday my bf and I had dinner at the bar and everything was incredible. We ordered a couple of cocktails which was super delicious and creative. We had the foie Gras and bone marrow as appetizers. I had grouper and he had steak as our entrees, and split the peanut butter bar for dessert.

The food was all amazing. AMAZING. I believe the menu changes to an extent each day and I wish they posted their daily menu on Instagram (that would be my only suggestion) so we could all read that, drool and then show up for dinner. Anyway, just be prepared for small daily tweaks.

The service was incredible as was atmosphere. If you love good food, this place is an absolute must.

I had dinner and drinks at the bar on a weeknight. Brian was super personable and knowledgeable, and full of suggestions and conversation. Handcrafted cocktails, a really wonderful & unique wine list and a very eclectic menu of cold & hot starters, salads and entrees. Fresh, local and seasonal produce allow the chef to create a nightly menu.

Wow. I love this place so much! Its unique menu, atmosphere, and superb service makes it perfect for any special occasion. It s a bit expensive, so don t expect a small bill even for a party of two. But it s definitely worth every penny.
