Nice place to sit in the shade and change my flat bicycle inner tube. No one bothered me or asked why I was there. But it was early Sunday morning and so no one was around except the guy chalking the courts.

A classy club to have weddings, dinners, and play a round or two of golf. In my case it was none of the above. Instead, my 50th high school reunion from Lyons Township High School (LTHS) had its second party night at this fine venue. The New Colony Six, a local 1960's band, got back together to fill the night with oldies and goodies.

The banquet rooms upstairs became our new home for 4 hours of friendship renewals and shared stories from the past. The buffet food was excellent, and the upstairs bar that was tucked into the corner of the dance floor room, was manned by patient bartenders and servers, a brilliant group of people who had to deal with overly-thirsty Baby Boomers and did so with panache.

Has gone downhill with a slate of newer members in the last few years. Seems more like the "Daddy's money" crowd than the "I worked hard and earned it" crowd. Love the course too, always have. Not sure there's any solution to this membership issue though.

This is a beautiful course, well maintained, with many large trees throughout the course. Everyone here is very helpful and service oriented. The clubhouse and locker rooms are simply gorgeous. This place is a wonderful experience!

Very good course, not bad for beginners and great pros. Little water holes/danger til the final holes. Clubhouse is great with a shop and food, drinks for order were all well done. Loved the atmosphere.

I have a friend who belongs to a local private club nearby and through his club I have played on some very nice private courses over the last few years. Yesterday afternoon I played here as a guest and this is by far the most enjoyable course I have played. Starting with the staff, I found them to be very good and quite attentive. We ate before teeing off and the food was delicious and prepared well. The clubhouse is warm and inviting; the kind of place to just come and hang out in. The men's locker room has its own bar and lounge with several HDTVs. I did not go into the room adjacent to the lounge area where the lockers are actually kept so I can't say anything about that.
I believe that the best way to tell how great a course is by the practice facility and Edgewood Valley has one of the best practice facilities I have ever seen. The practice tee can handle full golf shots including driver. There is another practice tee for iron only shots. 2 practice green for pitching, chipping and sand shots. The practice putting green is indicative of the greens on the course and were fast (about 12 on the stimpmeter) and true.
The course itself is not too difficult tee to green depending of what tee you play from. We played from the tips which actually took a lot of the fairway bunkers out of play and did not create any par fours that were unreachable in 2. There is very little water which comes into play but the fairways are tree lined with mature oak trees. The greens are heavily bunkered so you either have to bring your "A" game to the bunkers or avoid them with well struck shots. The greens were hard and shots landing short of the green had a tendency to roll to the back or off the green which is frustrating.
The pace of play was quick without the feeling of being rushed. We teed off about 2 PM so we did not have a caddy. All in all this was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I said to my friend that if I had a sponsor and the means, I would join here in a heartbeat!

Amazing clubhouse, locker room, range and of course a fantastic golf course with very quick greens. Head pro Chuck Kletcke has been there 20+ years and operates a top 5 County Club in the Chicagoland area.
