Had the most awful experience recently dining here...

Had the most awful experience recently dining here with my family! We were on vacation and was told the food was nice so we thought we d have Italian food! Firstly the wait for a table was about an hour after asking a waiter earlier that day if he felt we d need to book! He says no! Anytime before 7pm is quiet! Not so much!! After finally getting a table we were sat in a little cold room upstairs next to a window with no heating, it s December in New York for goodness sake. Finally, the most experienced waiter apparantley took our order! I ll get back to that! A large party joined our really cold room on the bigger table next to us! For some reason they got their food quicker as they were not having a dried pasta! This is from the experienced waiter!! However, after waiting longer I spoke to a manager and asked why we were waiting so long for our food for her to tell me that the table that were seated after us had placed their food order before us! No, don t think so! I suspect the experienced waiter screwed up our order! As a manager she was extremely rude and unhelpful, wish I got your name. Anyway, I couldn t be bothered arguing anymore, kids were hungry and waited long enough already. Food arrives and my 10 year old son started to eat his spaghetti, you know the one where it takes longer to cook but the table sat next to us managed to get some sort of magic spaghetti that takes quicker to cook! Anyway, son was tucking into his spaghetti only to find a plastic lid underneath from a tub of tomato sauce that had been clearly heated up and said lid was left in his bowl. Yuk!! Another manager approached to tell us he didn t know how it could ve happened and that the pasta comes in tanks! Really, I was told our order took longer as it was a dried pasta and needed at least 20mins to cook! Just awful.! Awful staff and awful food. Definitely won t be recommending this place in a hurry! Shame on yous.

It's inside a market so the ingredients are sourced from the market directly which means the food is all as fresh as it gets. Excellent place to eat, very crowded with about 15 minutes waiting time for a table.

We ran into this place looking for authentic Italian food and we found more than we expected. This place is a market/restaurant with amazing cheeses, wines, Olive oils and many other items rarely found outside of Italy. We ate here two days in a row and took home an amazing truffle sheep's milk cheese.

Eataly NYC was a good experience overall. However we were initially seated next to a woman screaming about her personal experiences on a cell phone while eating so we moved and the wait staff was very gracious and apologized for the problem, Pizza was good but a little "moist". Eataly Chicago is cooler with the two story building. The foodie vibe is intense and the selection unequaled.

Wonderful Italian restaurant and fresh market. It's indoors so you're out of the cold, and sells any type of fresh pasta or cheese that you could want. Great selection of wines. Only downside is it's quite busy and hard to find a table.

It's quite amazing that a place like this exists. There are a ton of quality foods to buy, and several restaurants to dine at. It was pretty crowded, but I think it adds to the bustling marketplace vibe. I went to the seafood restaurant where I tried a pan seared flounder and sea urchin crostini. The fish was soft and delicate, while the urchin was rich and laden with a butter sauce. It is a really unique place and a lot of fun.

This place is crowded all the time. Its a fun scene as its very energetic in that part of town but its a little too loud and hectic for me. The vegetarian options were commendable and I hear their seafood is good. Overall fun the first time but wouldn't go back because it is soooo hectic with shoppers walking right through the restaurant.

We tried the restaurants twice. This is has to be the closest to Italian food i had outside of Italy. By far the best pizza i had in the city..all ingredients are so fresh..full of flavors.

We also tried the pasta which was as good.
The cocktails are on the average side. Also the plates are Manhattan portions..so if you are a big eater you might have to consider that.
The restaurants are set in the crowded store..so be ready for the noise.

They have seperate restaurant for each section (pizza and pasta, steak, sea food, cold cuts, and vegiterian)..they told us we cant order from different sections at the same time..so the party has to agree on one restaurant to sit and order from.

It is on the pricy side..for 2 pizzas and 2 coctails we paid $70 plus taxes and tips.

I loooooove Eataly because I don't have to spend a ton of money to feel middle class fancy. I go about twice a year, maybe three times, so I make each trip count. It's a quick, fun way to escape the reality of Manhattan every so often, ESPECIALLY during lockdown.

There is a little bit of heaven for everyone in this place. That is the only way to describe it. Food is great, no reservations accepted to the restaurants but use the wait to get coffee or shop around.

You'll wish one was in your town too. Browse this huge grocery filled with Italian delicacies. Nosh at the wine bar. Or sit down for an excellent lunch at one of the various stations (the fish counter is my personal favorite, if they have razor clams on the menu - order them).

Fantastic choice. Every time we are in New York we take a suitcase of 'goodies' back home. Fantastic selection of everything Italian. Be prepared for food lovers overload.

Pros:
This is foodie wonderland - premium-plus quality produce - so try everything once.
In the restaurant sections the La Pizza pizza are sublime. Il Pesce Seafood bar is simply perfect. Manzo is oh so good. Rosticceria is delicious. The salami selection is truly world class. I'd would travel from London to the butcher section is I could. The cheese section is a glorious ode to milk's finest byproduct. It's impossible to get a bad coffee. Some of the worlds greatest Balsamico nestle in the shelves waiting to be taken home. The atmosphere here is a buzz. Food lovers heaven.

Con:
The La Pasta restaurant section was the only disappointing spot because the tomato based sauces are cooked to fast so that the caramelisation and stickiness never arrives on the plate, We tried La Pasta on three occasions and found all the tomato based pasta dishes to be a bit insipid, which considering the food wonderland about was a pico pity. Spend some time on the sugo guys, an extra minute or two and the sauce goes from simply tomato to simply gorgeous.

Excellent Italian products and food but very snobbish staff. Only the guy at the pasta food counter was friendly and professional all other staff had very bad attitude.
Would have second thoughts to visit again...

The food and service was incredible. The security guard near closing time was rude, impolite, and inconsiderate. At a place like Eataly, one would expect kindness in all staff. We were asked to finish our desserts in the cafe area towards closing by the manager of the restaurant. Upon entering the cafe area, the security guard approached with verbal hostility. An altercation ensued and upper management had to be involved. Otherwise, this place is great. Just don't go near closing time.

Very nice environment to take out-of-town guests, otherwise it's a place you visit once to say you have been. The crowd does skew a little older and the prices are not very cheap, think gourmet foods at gourmet prices. Be sure to check their website for events, sometimes there are free tasting or talks that are work a look. There's also a rooftop bar, again the crowd skews older and it's not cheap.

Absolutely fantastic. We loved it so much that we ate there on the first and last day of our trip to NY. We were gifted to be served by an incredible barman/waiter called Robinson who was the main reason that we returned. The quality of the food was incredible - they adapted a delicious pasta dish with truffles to a vegan version using olive oil rather than butter without one second of hesitation for which I'm deeply grateful. The expresso bar was also a treat - great professionalism from the barista and perfect espressos. Thank you to the entire team at Eately - we'll definitely be back.
