I return for these reasons, in order: fantastic service, relaxed yet upscale atmosphere, and consistently satisfying food.

Our most recent bartender, Marina, was attentive, knowledgeable, and conversational. Kudos.

It's a can't-miss, can't-go-wrong stop for an elevated experience in the Fenway/Kenmore area.

Nicest proper restaurant I've visited in some time. Even without a booking, reception staff happy to accommodate, and they won't lie about how long one is likely to wait.

Bar benefits from skilled hands producing tasty cocktails, and if all can't agree on a bottle of wine, by-the-glass selection is broad and thoughtful.

Eager, gushing (in the best possible way) staff impressed if one can identify cheeses, btw.

Great food, Drinks and above all wonderful Staff.. we were there twice in a week. I have been there before so was well aware of their well crafted cocktail. Last Thursday when I went with husband I mentioned that my son will be 21 in 3 days and I would like him to enjoy the drink here. When we went back on Monday the awesome manager Carolyn remembered. my son asked Esther, our bartender to make something special for his big day. she came up with this awesome drink for him it wasn't on the menu. We had one of the best bread, fries and musseles. we all loved our drinks but more than the gesture to make my son's day memorable. they had a tiny cake and rose for all of us. Carolyn, you are a wonderful person not only a great manager.

Had breakfast and dinner here during my stay at hotel commonwealth. For breakfast I ordered 2 fried eggs and a side of avocado, but the avocado never came. Dinner was a better experience in terms of service. Our host and waitstaff were all nice and helpful. The tartine appetizer was delicious and they have a great wine list. The steak was hard to chew (medium rare) and the frites a bit soggy.

I finally got to experience a true "Joe's Special Scramble"! I've made this dish b4 for my Georgia family, and on my recent trip to SF, stumbled into this little colorful gem on the early morning of my departure and was thrilled to see it on their menu. The server - nice, quick and attentive - didn't know what I was talking about when I gushed about the origins of the dish and how me, a Southern gal, was so excited to have the real thing, but that's OK. The food was amazing, and I'm so glad that I found Pat's rather than settling for crummy airport food.

Came here for dinner. Great service, good decor but man it gets very loud at dinner so don't expect a nice quiet romantic dinner.

For appetizers we had the steak tartare which was excellent. The lobster also was well cooked and tasted great. Others had the oysters and enjoyed them but I am not a big fan of oysters.

For main dish, I had the grilled ribeye. It was cooked well and tasted great. It comes with a side of roasted potatoes which were ok and a piece of butter that melts on it.

Drinks they have various cocktails that were all well made but they were all pretty standard and nothing you couldn't find or taste at any cocktail bar.

Pretty good. Service is good, food is good, nothing exciting. The menu has what you would like for brunch and nothing more, but prices are a little higher than what they should be given the food. Location is excellent.

One of the best gems of Boston. Service, food and drinks are always impeccable. Bartenders are on top of their game at all times. You can dress up or dress down, your experience will be the same. If you're visiting Boston, this is a must on your itinerary.

The consistent quality and the excellent service makes this place a Boston classic. They never fail you. I recently did breakfast and it was fantastic. Drinks are incredible and dinner is always yummy.

I liked the atmosphere. Old school. The food was ok, but not more. Charred burger. Flat cola. Priced far beyond the value. Overall, underperformed. Service was up to expectations. Nice job.

Great drinks, phenomenal food, classy atmosphere, with a friendly staff. The heaters outside may keep you warmer than any of the inside seating. A must when visiting Boston in this reviewer's opinion.

Fantastic food, drinks, ambiance and service. This is one of my favorite spots in Boston. We ve been hundreds of times but for my birthday last year, our server surprised us with a custom charcuterie board, complimentary birthday toast with signature champagne cocktails, and even hooked us up with a BONE MARROW LUGE!! Ask about it, it s a fantastic experience.

Came in a party of 10, to start the waitress named Kate was very cynical with all of us. Everything we ordered from drinks to entrees "wasn't what the restaurant carries or does" she says. I asked for a well done steak and it came rare, corn instead of fries, they brought fries. My friend ordered a well done hamburger, they brought a burnt bitter burger. Everything from service to food and drinks was a disappointment. It was the first and last time at this place.

One of my favorite higher end restaurants in Boston. Your classic American style menu with an assortment of beef, chicken and fish dishes that are simple but delicious. I will start off with their charcuterie & cheese platter and then I usually order one of their steak options. They also make a mean whiskey smash that is my must have during every visit. The staff are wonderful and always provide top notch service, making you feel welcome and tending to every request in a timely manner. Highly recommend for a special occasion or holiday event, just make sure to make a reservation.

Had a lovely experience here- Skilled and personable bartenders, GREAT drinks, warm and inviting ambiance. It was packed when a friend and I went but the atmosphere was jovial with people talking and laughing and yet not too loud. Will definitely return when I come back to Boston!

Although it was just for snacks, Eastern standard was a great place to dine and enjoy the environment. The bartenders was very attentive to our needs. I asked for a tasty beverage and they certainly provided that. My first time experiencing a Gershwin. Thank you!

I had several meals at the Eastern Standard while staying at Hotel Commonwealth and they were all amazing. They use fresh ingredients and don t over salt or over season their dishes. The service was fantastic- Alexander was my favorite server. Very pleasant to talk to and handsome! Would highly recommend this establishment.

A little on the pricey side, but worth it. My group split some calamari, fries and oysters while waiting for another event nearby. You don't think of fries as anything special until they are crisp, fresh and lightly seasoned. And the calamari was perfectly cooked and served with an awesome pepper aioli. The oysters were super fresh and served with a zingy cocktail sauce. One of our group had something off the sandwich menu (forget which) and dropped out of the conversation until it was finished, he enjoyed it so thoroughly. Eastern Standard also boasts a vibrant, seasonally-evolving drink menu to match their delicious food options. Rum fans, try The Opposition while you can. Rum-forward, pimento bitters adds some flash, caramel simple syrup takes the edge off, and crushed lime peel rubbed on the rim brightens it up.

Wanted a nice day off dinner without too much pomp and pretentiousness. ES delivered. The space has a nice, dark, comfy deco feel and the outdoor seating area gives a nice European flavor. My server, Leah, was absolutely excellent. She provided very helpful, decision-helping info that I greatly appreciated. She even went the extra mile to ask about a cocktail ingredient I noticed on the menu. All the assisting staff were excellent, attentive, efficient and professional. The trout was lovely and and apple crepe in the hot cast iron skillet was heavenly. The cocktails are well engineered and refreshing.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. I have probably been here more than any other Boston restaurant just because it's consistently good, and there is an option for everyone. My one tip would be to make sure you order your meat a degree higher than you actually want, because I find that with red meat they tend to undercook. BUT, if you like your meat rare, pay no attention to that suggestion. Otherwise, everything is always fantastic.

Dimly lit and classy atmosphere, yet still welcoming! The staff are attentive, honest, and friendly. I can t pronounce most of the drafts and wines on the menu but I m not cultured or classy so there you have it. I came for the oysters and they were absolutely delicious! I also had a great sour beer. The food menu looked outstanding as well. Great spot to impress a date or business prospects. I will definitely be back!

Literally the best food you ll ever eat in your entire life. I strongly suggest you try the ribeye. It s so fall apart tender you could eat it with a spoon. But honestly, there isn t anything that s bad here.

My friends and I pass by here so often and one day decided to come for late night drinks and food since they are open until 2am. The interior design suits the ambiance so well and delivers a classy yet laid back lounge dining experience.

The food is exceptional and the drinks even better. I almost always order a manhattan on the rocks at new restaurants I visit and by far the bartender here killed it as now it is one of the best I've had. You could taste how well they mixed and crafted it, at least to my personal preference. The food was quite delicious for coming at 11pm. The daily dish today was lamb with harissa and roasted chickpeas. The flavor of the lamb wasn't too gamey and the accompaning sauce complemented that flavor so well. The harissa tasted like an upscale take on mashed potatoes and the roasted chickpeas helped give the dish some texture. Overall I was very satisfied with my meal and experience. I definitely will be visiting Eastern Standard again.

As tourists here for a long weekend with friends, we were recommended to go to Island Creek a few doors down. The wait was long so we ventured a few doors down to Eastern Standard. Though busy already on a Saturday evening, we were able to walk up to the bar and order with ease and get some drinks. There were not open seats but a small subsection of bar open towards the very back. We were graciously invited to hang out by the small prep bar. Connor took great care of us, offering suggestions for oysters, handsome pours of wine, and prompt service. Despite being squeaked in, we felt as though we had a personal, full service, waiter. I cannot attest to the regular meals, but the oysters, cocktails, and wine were wonderful as well as the quick, fun, and witty service. Thanks to Connor!

Very upscale and classy decor but a fun and laid-back vibe.
Service is always top notch. Servers and bartenders and happy and always willing to recommend something and not act like you are putting them out.
Mark my words and get the bread pudding. It will change your life.

Great food... and cocktail/wine list was rather impressive. Service was good but... a little... smug... not just our server, but the vibe in general. With so many new, innovative, crafty bars & restaurants popping up across the city... a lot of them with very knowledgeable & professional staff... I just don t have time for the too cool for school vibe. It s, like, soooo 2018. But our meal was delicious!

I have been here thrice so far, al for work functions and it's always been great.

The menu is fairly small, but the options are always interesting and sophisticated; I haven't been disappointed yet. The dessert menu is always fabulous and we have always split 2-3 for the table; and again, have yet to be disappointed. At worst, nothing has truly blown me away. Things have always been solid, but not necessarily amazing.

The atmosphere is quite nice, but sometimes fickle. Sometimes the music is quiet, calm, and easy. Other times they've been playing modern music much louder, honestly making it a bit difficult to hear the other at my table.

And the wait staff has always been very polite and professional. No complaints there.

So if you're looking for an upscale-but-not-too-crazy meal, I recommend Eastern Standard.

The food that my friends and I had while we were there was good, but not exceptional. However, before our waiter came to the table, and it took him a while to come we were pretty much ignored for at least 20 minutes.

After that, food runners brought appetizers to the table that they couldn't explain. They didn't know what was on the cheese board, and the English language barrier was a problem.

Overall, I was really expecting a lot more from the service I received at this restaurant.

Basically, with all the great restaurants in Boston, you can do better elsewhere.

The food is very good, although the prices a little high. A beer costs between 8 and 14 dollars. A hamburger costs about 15 dollars. The waitress (I think she was Colombian) gave us excellent service. The place is highly recommended if you want to spend about 30-40 dollars per guest. The building is historic and also looks very beautiful.

Everytime I come to Boston I make sure to visit Eastern Standard. My favorite drink to get is the blueberry frill. It's not on the menu but they still make it if you ask. The food is amazing as well as the service. I always enjoy myself.

I was not familiar with Boston this place came highly recommended by my friend who owns and manages restaurants in New York. It did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, first class raw bar, exceptional cocktails and service, and good music playing. Really an excellent experience and just the kind of night out my wife and I needed.

Had dinner with a group here last week - ordered the steak frites, 1/2 lb lobster, and the mussels The steak was a bit over, fries very bland, wouldn't order again. The lobster and the mussels were great. Service was good, drinks were good but nothing to write home about. Lots of better options in the area

It was very easy to find and there was service right as we stepped in. After we ordered the food came in about 10-20 minutes and the food was amazing! Barring a piece of string in our lobster roll the food was super good. We went for brunch and they had good sandwiches and potatoes. The best were the mussels with super good flavor.

I tried the brussel sprouts and a passion fruit cocktail with gin which I don t remember the name of. They were both fantastic. Also had some wine curated by their wine manager and she did a fantastic job getting bottles that where approachable for a party of 6-7 with different tastes. Was an overall great experience. Will come back on my next visit to Boston!

Really amazingly good food in a great atmosphere. It's a little pricier, but still much less epensive than a dedicated steak house and the steak was some of the best I've had in a restaurant.

The wait staff was really friendly and helpful, and the cocktail my wife ordered was flat out delicious. I'd highly recommend stopping by if you are visiting Boston.

This is undoubtedly one of my favorite places in Boston. It has a classy but casual gatsby vibe to it. They also play the best music.

The bartenders are fantastic and super friendly and professional. They make great recommendations. Also the welcoming staff is always super friendly.

Hands down, awesome - I ve never had a bad experience here.
