We have been to Dutch Apple many times but last night's experience was THE BEST EVER !!! My husband was worried because it was a sit down dinner...not the buffet. Was he surprised...it was the best meal we have ever had at the theater!!!! We brought friends with us and it was their first trip there...they were so impressed with everything! The play was the funniest one that we have ever seen there...."Shear Madness". We hope you bring it back again sometime....we would go see it again. Great cast, great show, great food! A+++++++++++++
Loved it. Food was great and the Show was very funny (Lucky Stiff)
My mom & I were on a trip to Maine from Eagle Grove Iowa & this was one of our favorite stops they were amazing !! & The food & drink were great!! If ever we get the chance again we will be back ....we saw " Sister Act" while we were there,
Loved the plays. Tonite was " the Savannah Sipping Society. " Was well done. No dinner tonite but you could bring in food such as Pizza or maybe wine and other snacks. Very nice place.
Visited for one of the children's theatre lunch shows. The buffet had a lunch perfect for any child, with a few different choices that were all kid approved. The show was very good, and my daughter enjoyed the entire time we spent there. We will be visiting again for another one of their shows.
Good shows. Buffet is decent with a variety of food.
The show was good, the food blah. Go for a show, but eat somewhere else first. There are plenty of options close.
Great shows, attentive staff, and great food. highly recommend for those looking for a family night
Cute place tucked away from the busy highway! The show was amazing! The food was delicious and a great variety. No seat is a bad seat. You get a great veiw from anywhere. We had such a great time we purchased a season membership and will be back for more shows!!
A Night of Magic and Comedy was great! Hoping to attend again next year.
It was wonderful. The food was great and the play was fantastic.
Good food. Comfortable seating. Great Neil Diamond impersonator show!
The show was excellent but I was very disappointed in the food. Everything was dry and almost seemed like it could have been re-heated. We also had to wait and go back because a lot of things were empty. They also charge imported prices for domestic beer. When we brought it to the waitresses attention, she did not offer to make it right and continued to charge the higher price all night. I have gone here for years and was never disappointed like I was this time.
Its hard to imagine a more lopsided mix of great theater and simply aweful food. If you are looking for fine theater and dishes that will remind you of the highschool cafeteria this is the place for you.
Joseph. & the Technicolor Dreamcoat performance was outstanding!
Blown Away!! Food and performance well exceeded my expectations! Thank you!
We've been here to see 3 shows.....spectacular. The visual effects paired with great performers makes u feel like ur seeing a Broadway production but in an intimate setting.
Review in multiple parts:
LOCATION:
It's very easy to find, right off of the highway. Signage from the freeway and where to park could have been a bit better. Free ample parking, although when the show ends everyone rushes to leave and a long queue to exit forms. The building itself is generically nice. No major complaints. You can purchase a dinner+show ticket or separate dinner and/or show tickets.
DINNER:
Bought a dinner and theater ticket. Every other dinner theater I have been to was a plated dinner, but we found that this was a buffet. There was pork, fish, and chicken/turkey and a couple vegetables. Multiple pies were available for desserts; the soup of the night was chicken noodle. Not worth much to mention, because, frankly, the food wasn't that good. It reminded me of a tired school lunch. The dinner portion of the ticket was about $20 per person; this would have been much better spent at an outside restaurant. The server we had for the table was a mix of spunky/sassy; she didn't hover or visit too often which was perfectly fine with me.
THEATER:
The theater itself was great. The show was entertaining, the actors did a good job, and lighting was on point. The sound was a little off as the microphones sometimes picked up too well or not well enough; also the sound was oddly louder from one speaker than the other. Overall, quite enjoyable. The theater portion of the ticket was about $40 per person. Excellent value for the show portion!
I was very disappointed with the food selection at tonight's show. The only thing that was worth eating was the brisket of beef., but even that was dry. I am so glad the show was great. It made up for the terrible food.
Wonderful place just to enjoy a nice evening with some friends and family. Great service and good food finish with a turkeyhill ice cream. Yum yum
A very nice place for good old fashion entertainment. Buffet was okay. Service good.
The staff was exceptional. Enjoyed the show very much and the food was delicious.
Very nice dinner theater. Cast always enthusiastic. Variety of plays offered. Lots of tour groups come. Local foods offered buffet style with awesome country desserts like shop fly pies and more.
Super fun evening spent seeing The Wizard of Oz. Food was delicious, our server, Alexis, was wonderful, and the show was terrific! Well done!!!
Amizing Show and Food and service is top notch as always. Anyone that wasn't here missed a great show. Hope to see Terry here beautiful Lancaster real soon
I was there twice quite a bit of years ago. It was the most absolute best place I have been to for dinner and theatre. I would recommend it to all my friends.
Food was awesome and the Christmas Carol play was Broadway worthy. Loved it!
Good play good food plenty of it, we really enjoyed ourselves
Very good entertainment and food. We go to six or seven shows a year. Wouldn't miss this for anything.
Great Show, Fantastic Service, and Food was superior
We saw the Annie show and it was amazing. Definitely recommend it.
We saw Swing. It was fabulous! The meal was very too with top rate service. An all around great experience! I'd give it 9 stars if I could.
Food was above average especially for a buffet. I cleaned two plates which was unlike me. Dessert selection was equally as nice. We saw A Christmas Carol and it was extremely good. Can't wait to come back to this place.
Went here over christmas for the show white christmas. It is a nice little establishment. Food was good, nothing special, shows were okay. It was fun with the family. Nothing spectacular, but I would go back again as a family thing.
Good food, nice variety. Fresh pies. Friendly staff & servers. The play was great.
Great buffet meal. Wait staff and crew are pleasant and friendly. The show was very professional.
The shows are always wonderful to watch and you cant go wrong with a buffet! Totally look forward to the new shows every year!
So they give you cards to rate experience but dont give you a pencil. So ..no filling out the form for us. Not the first time. Plus...my zits was only half warm and cold in spots. Hot food never hot. However...Finding Neverland was fantastic!! One of the very best shows we have seen here!! Go see it! You won't be disappointed.
Saw Showboat and had dinner. Food and selection was excellent. Acting was very good.
I have attened the Christmas dinner and show for the last four years. The buffet dinner is excellant in both choices and taste. The show is well acted and the sound is crisp and clear. I invited a new friend this year and she absolutely loved it. She is considering bringing her family next year. The staff is well organized and always courteous from the seating staff to the wait staff. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
I've seen several shows. The productions are always fabuluos. The buffet has been very good each time as well, always fresh.
Went to see Finding Neverland last week. The production was great and the seats were great (sat in section B), as I am used to big shows with seats where I can't really make out the actors' faces. I went in with no expectations, and left thoroughly satisfied with the quality of the actors and the set design. We decided to see the show only with no dinner. I felt the prices were a bit high, but it was a fun night nonetheless.
The comedy our group saw was Sister Act and it was so funny with great actors. The Buffet was excellent and it had plenty of choices. The deserts were all so wonderful and tasty. We love this place.
We enjoyed meeting new people. The food was ok. The service was great! And the show was amazing!
Dinner theater that put on good shows food was good.
Show was fabulous, food was good but on the cold side.
My husband and I saw Holiday Inn today. The show was amazing, very good singers and dancers. I'd also like to thank the chef and staff, the beef brisket, baked corn and pecan pie were my favorites on the buffet and absolutely delicious. The wait staff took great care of us in section D! Dutch Apple Dinner Theater is a great value for the price.
Great shows, good food, and good prices also a gift shop
I saw Camelot, and the show was excellent! All of the actors were strong (although that's not always the case). I didn't get the meal, because last time my favorite part of the meal was the salad bar, which is normally pretty low for me.
Very professional production of "CAMELOT"! The Buffet has a variety of things to choose from.
We enjoyed a fantastic show tonight- the Million Dollar Quartet! Wow the musicians/ actors were amazingly talented!! I would highly recommend it! I am giving only 4 stars because the food was disappointing. The servers were great, friendly. There was only one food line and the line was long so it took too long to get to the buffet and then the food was just warm, even the au jus for the prime rib was just warm, the soup arrived at our table while we were waiting in the long food line so that was cold when we got back to our table. There were only a few desserts that were pre cut but not covered with wrap so they were dry. The cookies and cream cake was hard, crumbly and not even edible! Tasted like it was freezer burnt! Chocolate cake didn't have much flavor. Pecan pie was good. By the time you were done with your entree they were already putting the desserts away. They need to allow more time to eat and ensure it is hot.
Play was amazing! Service was good but food was awful. Sorry, but true.
I was so impressed with holiday inn. Very well done. Food was good especially the mushroom ravioli.
Over the past several years, we've been here 3-4 times. Every time, the show has been wonderful. The performances have been energetic, and well done. Most recently saw Shear Madness, a comic who-dunnit play, and the actors did a marvelous job. Very entertaining evening. I would highly recommend them just for the shows. As to the food, it's a buffet, and they are mediocre at best. We went on Saturday night, which was "Prime Rib" night, but unfortunately, it was all well-done. Really good prime rib is typically served rare, or at least medium, with some well done end cuts. In general, that probably summarizes the food - well done or overdone. I've just learned to not expect too much of the food, and then I'm rarely disappointed. But we'll be back again, because we enjoy the shows.
We went to celebrate my daughters Birthday. The buffet before the show was very good with several choices and a lovely salad bar. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and informative! She highly recommended their Peanut Butter Pie, it was yummy! They have speciality drinks and cocktails.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was extreme well done! This is the theaters 33rd season. I highly recommend it for couples, groups, or families depending upon the production!
