I put a star because I have to be able to publish. I would never buy a lot again on Drouot. For the delivery of a book of about 500g he asks me for 60 euros of delivery. I told them to keep the book. Super disappointed.

A word of advice, if you don't live in Paris, don't try to buy from Drouot! The Drouot auction house prides itself on distributing its sales on the Internet in order to reach buyers from all over the world, but lo and behold, when you just bought a lot remotely, in my case it was in the provinces, it was easy to be able to recover it!
First, security fees will be automatically applied after the first day of the sale and this, every day exponentially until you can collect your lot.
Secondly, if you ask to have your purchase brought back by the carriers linked to Drouot, the costs will be extremely high, even for a short distance and for a small object without great value!
Third, the longer the objects are stored at the Drouot store, the more they are prone to being damaged (according to an employee of a Parisian auction house).

So, if you live in Paris, you physically attend a sale and then you can bring your lot back, Drouot is indeed a place conducive to this but if not, refrain!

Experience more than mixed. On one side the pleasure of meeting with beautiful and beautiful objects, the excitement of the moments of the sale. On the other, very varied impressions during the exchanges with the salesmen during the exhibitions. Some auctioneers are hospitable, friendly and provide information that seems pretty rigorous. But others have a cold and distant attitude, not to mention the condescension of the one who knows (or thinks to know?) Compared to the one who does not know (or does as if he did not know). The experts and other trainees are from the same barrel, it goes from the best to the worst. A tip: stay very wary about this little world where the art of talking or not to talk to embellish, to hide the wolf, to stay on the surface of things reaches the peaks. This is at least one area for which the microcosm Drouot is worth five stars.

There are better places to stay. I got robbed my first visit while getting there. It is on the edge of a Jewish neighborhood which is targeted for a lot of vandalism. Not too safe after dark for a neighborhood.

Metro Richelieu-Drouot, hours 11am-6pm, Direct bids from 13:30, visit the lots the day before or the morning before sales. Hotel sales on 3 levels and 16 sales rooms, mythical by name it deserves local
more important worthy of the big English or US auction houses. WC toilets were padlocked there is still 1 year or 2 !! Free Wifi do not exist for the general public. 4G mobile networks are poorly captured in the basement and yet there is much to do on this side. Commissions increase each year (up to about 29 to 30 % for an item won at auction) .Too many commissions kill the auction, alas the investments decrease, The premises are small. They have installed a gourmet restaurant (?) in the DRC so that the commissionaires do not die of hunger!
* * The DROUOT LIVE auction site is shabby. Without stop in transformation, the information amuse while modifying it all the time for a result? The photos of the lots are not displayed correctly and the photo boxes are empty, which you never see on the big Anglo-American sites Sotheby's or Christie's **

A must-see in the art market world, which has unfortunately lost its luster for several years. Despite this, we come with pleasure to see all the objects on offer. Drouot is a veritable ephemeral museum where master paintings rub shoulders with contemporary works, historical objects and erotic pictures.
The only complaint is the opening hours: 11am, it's a little too late ...
