Drouot is only a package that hosts in its midst often questionable auction houses, such as for example Lucien Paris. Common catalog errors, erroneous items, misleading descriptions; we bid, and after the sale we realize the errors to finally learn by reading the lines of legal notices that sales houses are not responsible for anything!

Goods to check with great attention .. Because often the state report mentioned does not correspond to reality I paid the price ... worn silk squares and stains, watch that does not work, broken jewelry
Shy progress has been observed in recent years, particularly on the website, which now features photos of the sale items (in 2012, it was time!). But the organization remains dusty. Shipping and packaging are to be reviewed. The rooms are too small. More serious, the practices of the auctioneers are sometimes at the limit of the correction, with unannounced defects, or the hammer which is slow to fall when the auction goes up little. Who controls these people? Beside these indelicacies, their distressing inability to make the connections when they announce the auctions ("twenty Teuros but eighty Zeuros") is only a detail.
The Drouot auction house is a must-see place for bargain hunters and collectors of all kinds. In recent years, however, it is unfortunate to see the cost of some auction houses soar to more than 30%. Add to this the costs of guarding and possibly other transportation costs and in the end, the purchase which seemed to you at a reasonable hammer price, becomes quite expensive!
In addition, I find that the expertise is more and more summary ...
Year after year, the scarcity of quality products, as well as the democratization of sales disseminated on the internet, can explain the setbacks I just mentioned above?
Not only are the auctioneers taking advantage of the covid to smoothly increase the live auction fees by 1.8%, they are also unable to offer the 'free auction' option during the sale and the auction steps become then uncontrollable, you have to go from 50 to 100 euros at once while in the room you can go up in stages of 10 euros. In summary they make us the pockets no more no less !! it will be necessary to think of seriously regulating this profession without faith or law, we do not summon (that) cash cows !!!!
For those who complain about shopping costs. The first 10 days are offered. If you have an impediment but you warn them they are accommodating. This company is very serious. It is sure that if you bid and you do not pay immediately ... or that you take time to accept the transport quote .. after a while you must understand that it is not a warehouse. Personally I am very satisfied with all transactions made with Drouot.
Unique. For objects, furniture and works of art of infinite variety, offered for sale, of course. But just as much for the inimitable atmosphere and the passionate audience or simply curious. And of course for the auctioneers, who have eyes everywhere and ears at all, with always the stroke of humor. A must see
Exhibitions of objects are often interesting, from an artistic, cultural, exotic or even nostalgic point of view and the auctions are a real spectacle. We can also buy (!) Some brands have the intelligence and courtesy to make their WiFi network available to the public, this is not the case here.
I went three hours yesterday for an estimate. Received my objects that had no value but I had a very good reception by a professional very knowledgeable about his work. Thank you so much.
Shame on Drouot for allowing the sale of sacred Navajo items and disregarding the tribe's plea to suspend the auction until further research could be done to see if the items were stolen from the tribe. Utterly tacky, low-class establishment.
According to the hall, the reception is surprising, or we are well received and informed, but we also find sufficient and haughty behavior, and a lack of good manners. What a difference in the same complex. An institution that deserves to focus on the expectations of potential buyers, instead of looking at the belly button.
Europe's largest auction house has dozens of auctions every day, at any price, and friends who like antiques can come and see. The auction categories will be announced online a few days in advance, and you can do your homework in advance.
I have been going to Drouot since I was kid, the newly renovated building is clean and elegant. I think its a great place to visit for tourists. You will find all sorts of different objects and you can easily auction on items even if you dont live in France, just bring your ID and your credit card. It's also a great place to find some old and original furniture.
The perfect place for collectors, bargain hunters and professionals ... A special, unique atmosphere. The place is open to everyone. Don't hesitate to come in and why not take part in the auction game!
Custom. I had never seen such a place! A shopping mall with auction rooms from everywhere open on both sides to pass freely. On the other hand. Items are sold at high prices and not always justified. These auction rooms are good for selling but not for buying unless you are an annuitant with the Gold Card.
Internet is excellent, buy latest web camera models, please. Thank you in advance. Your transport system is catastrophic and use DPD or others, because your internet buyers need a clear and decent transport and competitive! thanks in advance
Drouot expedition (transport) is basically an extortion operation where they try to charge buyers 500% mark up for their "service", without obtaining consent from the buyers . Do not be surprised to receive absurdly high quotes for shipping, storage, packing etc. Instead of charging this to their partners- Auction houses they hit up customers for quick cash, knowing that buyers already paid for their lots and trapped in Drouot extortion scam. Pathetic.
Like most European Auction houses this one is not an exception. If you want to purchase fake goods described as authentic, find that the Champagne box you bought has rotten corks and undrinkable, receive outrageous shipping and storage quote. Find that sterling silver plates you bought are silver plated....go ahead and give these crooks your money. Good old Europe where the small-time thieves and scammers find their comfortable niche, feeling secure and insulated by the language and national bureaucracy from any repercussions of their pathetic dealings.
I avoid bidding on their Online Auctions & sales as they always add enormous shipping charges. I have Drouot card from 10 years ago but bidding registration is so convoluted and cumbersome (like Swiss bank) that I avoid them all together. Every time I see Drouot link to the Auction sale I delete it from my mailbox.
One of the most renowned restaurants in the Elysian fields, best known for its desserts, especially the famous macaroni, by the way, very expensive, the place is really beautiful, but the prices are excessive.
The space is quite open and pleasant. We have good times. Sales in theaters are standard ... for amateurs! The website is fine. The presentation of lots with "visit" is a most appreciated. But beware !!!! Too many Auction Houses do not play the game of Live sales and do not accept to deal with shipments. They send you back to Drouot transport which is overpriced. For small lots, this system is not correct. In short, buy ... pay .... and manage to recover your lots ...
The highest cost auction house in the world! absolute record! Why ? to be able to take almost 12 weeks of vacation per year !! and close the Drouot hotel without ever thinking of mentioning it on the website. In short, managers from another era, a little dusty ...
There are magic places and Drouot is one of them. Too bad that the cost of sales, storage are so expensive but it is always a pleasure and a treat for the eyes to roam the different rooms. The decor changes constantly and the objects are loaded with stories. A Parisian must-have.
I bought two Empire girandoles this year. In the online catalog described as flawless!
On the pick-up day, which was agreed in writing, my forwarding agent was standing in front of closed doors during official opening hours. However, I was warned to pick up my auctioned objects. After I and my forwarder arranged a second pickup, I had to pay 12,000, - 260, - storage costs. Finally, we were given girandoles, whose candlesticks were broken. My freight forwarder was given the choice of taking along the objects or leaving them without replacement. Also, one has refused to log these objections. I correspond for some time now unsuccessfully with the complaint department, one refers me from one to the other or I am not answered to my messages.
My forwarder, a special transporter for antiques and art, told me later that Drouot enjoys a very bad reputation on the scene and that he already had some unsatisfactory journeys there.
The girandoles I have meanwhile restored, but the behavior of the auction house is in my case unrestorable.
I should be beaten, should I despite the most beautiful seduction of my collector's heart, come up with the idea to buy again at Drouot.
Can not connect to the site to bid, blocking by the tool "flash player" that does not install on my PC (Windows). I thought this time was over when the sites ask the installation of "driver" or other by users. The solution may not be compatible with Windows ..... Help would be very helpful! thanks in advance
Quite simply the oldest auction house in the world. Painting, furniture, arts, jewelry, books, fashion, science objects , there is enough to fill the 20 sales rooms of the Hotel Drouot, which is also very famous for its advertising "Gazette". The hammer blow of the auctioneer or the announcement of the auctioneer is an experience to be lived. Since 2011, some sales have already been fully dematerialized. And no need to come with your checkbook to attend the frenzy of a sale, access is free and open to everyone.
On June 25, 2018, a painting by Kees Van Dongen did not sell at a reserve price of two million euros. In addition, an Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta was sold at 4900 euros. This is one of the few Japonisant paintings by the artist with an Andalusian theme with "Japanese-themed" clothes.
Amazing place for auction lovers. There are three floors with several rooms, which open as long as there is an auction within the next few days. In general there is quite a public, many professionals from nearby antique dealers and collectors from all over the world.
