Terrible customer service! They didnt know if I needed an IDP or/and English translation of my driver's licence for a rental in Sydney, Australia. Got 20 emails with 30 different information. At the end they said they could not get my translation (translated by an official translator from NAATI) and I should get an IDP and they could not say where to get an IDP.
Terrible, horrible and a bunch of incompetent people answering emails. Nobody really knows about the regulations in Australia for foreigners with foreign dirver's licence that are not in English. Be careful!

I will never use this company again. I ordered a car for pickup at a main rail station in France but was never told they don't have a pick up at that station. Then I questioned an extra charger on my credit card and the customer service person was rather rude and not at all helpful.
Dont use them!!

Painful company to deal with. Initially clicked on their car booking 'special' they were advertising for $400. They emailed back advising that it was not available, but they have allocated another car to my Credit Card at just under $900. I told them to cancel it as it was more than double the price and I didn't want to go ahead. Why advertise a deal that isn't available then assume people are happy to be charged double the price for something else. Been trying to get them to fix payment for 2 weeks with no luck. Email responses taking days for a reply. Very annoying going on holiday $900 poorer with nothing to show for it.

I have just returned from 22 days in the USA. I hired a car to carry me and two friends (and luggage), picking the car up in San Francisco and dropping it off in Denver. There was a one-way recovery fee of $500, which I expected, but when the agent in San Francisco saw our huge pile of luggage, he offered an upgrade to a larger car, while dropping the one-way fee to $300. We took it.
The car was brand new - leather seats, electric adjust, rear view camera via the rear-view mirror, emergency telephone contact device built-in, twin air-conditioners, two sunroofs, DVD player and roof-mounted screen. We could not have been happier with the deal. The car was supplied by Alamo, but at a considerable (like 1/2 price) discount than going directly through Alamo. We ended up driving 4,500 miles through ten states from Seattle Washington down to Santa Fe in New Mexico. I could not be happier. Oh, and don't worry about getting an expensive "International Driving Licence" from the NRMA - it's not worth the paper it's printed on. In the US at least, all they are interested in is your Australian driving licence - nothing else.
This is the first time I have used DriveAway Holidays, but I will definitely use them if I travel overseas again. I am completely happy with their service.

We booked a car for 4 weeks in October , picking up from San Francisco and drop off in LA., using Dollar Car Rentals. We paid much less than if we'd booked in the U.S. and had no problems whatsoever. Quick and easy pick up and return and the car was a free upgrade and almost new. We drove over 8000 kms and really enjoyed the whole experience. No extra charges on drop off, but we did find the ' drop off empty " approach rather stressful. They also offer a ' drop off full " option which we would have preferred, but didn't find out about in time.

Leased a Peugeot 208 in Bordeaux, France through DriveAway for 155 days as we toured Europe from April to September. Was a fantastic experience and enjoyed the hassle free smoothness of processing, pick-up and return. DriveAway processed our booking whilst we were traveling in Asia. Car was brand new, economical on fuel with free gps and 24/7 road service in addition to full insurance with no excess. Best value car hire deal we've ever had and highly recommended for Europe. Also no extra charges if you pick-up and drop off in France.

DriveAway represent the big rental car companies. They thrive on the commission they receive from the bookings to the major companies.
We booked a Hertz car and pre-paid through Travel centre in Melbourne.
DriveAway provided certain documentation (in English) for us to agree to and take with us to pick up the car. It was inaccurate as Hertz in Germany would not accept the paperwork provided (in English) and although they saw the car was pre-paid ($2200AUD) they took out $1500 Euro out of my major credit card and would not give us any car unless a contract that favoured them and was contrary to the DriveAway contract was signed.
I believe these people are ___________ and_____. I would not believe a word that they said. And NEVER BOOK WITH THEM EVER!!

We hired a car from Driveaway this time for 5 days in Germany, pick up and drop off in Munich. We have used them several times before in Europe as they consistently offer a competitive price and give the confidence of using an Australian based company. Pick up and drop off has always been hassle free. The local office staff are responsive and helpful. Overall I would recommend Driveaway when you are planning your next holiday.

Brilliant Service. Used these guys when planning my trip to the US. They helped me and my partner organise car hire between LA and Vegas and Chicago and New York.

Hiring a car is a great way to see the US and given that its can be a more economical way to travel to close destinations, there is so much benefit.

Picture this. Driving into the bright lights of Vegas, rooftop down in a mustang.... yeah that's the right way to do it!!. I always wanted to, but didn't know how, Driveaway Holidays made it so easy. Even when there was a problem with our GPS , I spoke to a staff member at Driveaway Holidays and they were able to arrange for the hire company to wave the fee.

Really convenient and friendly. definitely use them again for future trips and when ever I need to organise cars domestically, I use them because they make it so hassle free.

Found DriveAway Holidays through Google. Booked a hire car for 5 weeks travel all over the UK. In the lead up to my booking the customer service reps were prompt to answer all of my queries and concerns via e-mail (I had a few!). The price was by far the cheapest of anything else I could find and the car included unlimited kms and additional driver as part of the cost. Upon arriving in Glasgow where we picked the car up from I had no problems with Europcar and the car we got was just the size we were after. Would recommend DriveAway to anyone, thanks.

We cannot speak highly enough of this car hire company. Thank goodness our travel agent booked our Italian car hire though DriveAway, without whose support we would not have been able to resolve assorted problems. Avis Italy was absolutely atrocious, and have not yet responded to our requests for assistance...but fortunately DriveAway came to the rescue and took care of everything for us. Quick, efficient, empathetic, considerate and helpful. Thank you DriveAway.
Avis Italy is another story - do not touch them, not under any circumstances!!

This was our second experience of renting a Peugeot through Drive Away. We chose a 307 SW for a 36 day trip around France and Northern Italy. We picked up the car in Paris and dropped it off in Marseille. The service was excellent and even included loading our first destination into the GPS. On drop-off we were driven to the airport terminal with the luggage still in our car which was very convenient. The car was perfect for a couple with lots of luggage and was comfortable for day trips with 5 adults.
