Mayan Mocha for the win on this rainy day. It's super smooth and the slight heat from the cayenne is perfect. It's a welcoming environment, too, with friendly staff and comfy couches.

Great local coffee shop with hometown feel! Friendly and helpful staff. Open for walk-in and take out during Covid. The Mocha and Salted Caramel coffees are delicious. The Berry smoothie is healthy alternative. Also, there is a nice selection of muffins and baked goods. This is a cash only establishment.
So cozy and really great coffee! Giving it 4 out of 5 stars because they are cash only (be prepared for it because I wasn t) but if you know ahead of time it is a great stop!!
This place literally has no common sense. The lady was very rude to my family. There was a lady literally sitting next to the counter unmasked not drinking anything, the lady behind the counter expects me to put on a mask and was very rude about it. You aren t the only coffee in town. Plus what establishment doesn t take cards? You lost customers this past week due to the illogical thinking and rudeness and your inept inability to accept the most common type of payment. Please seek your coffee elsewhere.
My family and I visited Black Mountain this past weekend. One of my favorite things to do when we visit somewhere new, is try the local Starbucks. WHAT A BUST.
After that disappointment, my family and I traveled into downtown and stopped inside this adorable little coffee shop. The man behind the register was so kind (and very cute).
I got an oatmilk espresso latte and it was absolutely delicious. My favorite part was the prices!! Usually quaint little coffee shops are expensive, but I honestly thought the prices were incredibly reasonable. If we ever visit Black Mountain again, I will DEFINITELY be back :)
No complaints at all with the product here. The coffee is always great, however, every time I have been here the employees are just rude and standoffish. The idea of hospitality doesn't seem to be on the minds of anyone working here. Most recently my partner and I walked in near to closing and the first thing we heard was "we close in three minutes if you know what you want". Really? That's how you're going to greet a customer without even looking up from your phone? It's hilarious and frustrating. Both my partner and I have been either
a server or bartender for over ten years. The number of times I have stayed past closing to give a guest a quality, welcoming, enjoyable experience...I can't imagine greeting a guest that way and it being acceptable in eyes of any business owner I have ever worked for. Great coffee tho. Real good coffee.
Cash only
Decaf is excellent
Skip the "bagel"
Get the lemon bar
Mask Isn't required, despite the signs. Everyone seated was maskless, most notable those on their laptops, who were not eating or drinking.
The weirdest bit was the bagel. They didn't ask if I wanted cream cheese or it toasted and didn't ask if it was to go, so what I was presented with was baffling. The bagel was served on the bar where you pick up your drinks on top of a piece of aluminum foil with a portion of cream cheese and a metal knife.
Crazy idea, if you're not setup to for takeout portions, why not just put the cream cheese on and wrap the bagel?
Coffee is great! Customer service... not so much. I wasn t too fond of whoever was working this past Saturday. We came in about 15 minutes before closing and I felt we were treated poorly. Whoever was working seemed pretty irritated we came in. You have paying customers - you should always treat them with respect and be grateful you have a job or find something else. I probably won t be back here.
A Black Mountain must! We have been visiting this coffee house since their opening in 1999. So many sweet times there. Love this place!
I was pleased with my coffee and the customer service. The ladies working were friendly and great. But it did seem to move very slowly inside. And credit cards... I can't get passed a business that operates cash only in 2021. I know that I personally would have spent more money because we barely had cash for 2 coffees, and we heard the pastry items are good.
