Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) is a non-profit organization that aims to revitalize and promote Downtown Detroit as a vibrant, attractive, and economically viable place to live, work, and play. Founded in 1995 by business leaders who recognized the need for a coordinated effort to improve Downtown's image and economic prospects, DDP has since become a driving force behind many of the city's most successful revitalization projects.
At its core, DDP is committed to creating an environment that supports a walking experience while cultivating a retail and restaurant community. The organization works closely with local businesses, property owners, residents, government officials, and other stakeholders to develop strategies that enhance Downtown's physical appearance and economic vitality.
One of DDP's most significant achievements has been its role in transforming Campus Martius Park into one of Detroit's premier public spaces. Located at the heart of Downtown on Woodward Avenue between Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street, Campus Martius Park features beautiful landscaping, fountains, seating areas for visitors to relax or enjoy lunch breaks during work hours. It also hosts various events throughout the year such as concerts or ice skating rinks during winter months.
DDP also played an instrumental role in bringing back streetcars (QLine) into downtown after more than 60 years since they were last seen on Woodward Avenue. The QLine runs along Woodward Ave from New Center area down through Midtown all the way up until Congress St downtown providing easy access for commuters or tourists alike.
Another notable project spearheaded by DDP is "The District Detroit," which aims to transform 50 blocks around Little Caesars Arena into an entertainment district with restaurants/bars/shops/retail stores/hotels etc., attracting millions of visitors each year. This project will create thousands of jobs while generating millions in tax revenue for both city & state governments.
