Good food but pricey. Old school feel. Will go back after saving up some more cash.

Great ribs and slaw. The twiced-baked potato tasted like it had been left under the heat lamp a bit too long, but otherwise great bbq food and neat sports decor.
Willie Mays was autographing baseballs the night we went there! (and I've heard a lot of pro ballers eat there too during spring training)
A steak house that serves good food. There is a lot of baseball memorabilia decorating the ceiling and walls. The ribs are every bit as good as the ribs I make in my own smoker. A great place for both tourists and locals to go for good steak and ribs.
Food is great and the service from Shelly is awesome!!
Great food & great sports memoribilia. Unfortunately it will be closing in early April so better get there now
Amy is a fantastic bartender. I'll definitely be back!
The food and atmosphere are both out of this world. I am a huge sports fan and foodie and to be able to experience both at the same time is truly unique. I have never had a bad service or was disappointed in my food. Not to mention every time I go in there, there is at least one professional or retired athlete. I will be a customer of theirs as long as I love food!
The food is wonderful and so is the service. If you like salads there is a nice selection. My favorite is the DK Chopped salad.
Always great food at D&C. One of our very favorite places to go.
Amazing food in an awesome atmosphere. From Chicago I frequented Carson's which is the same recipe. So nice to have a touch of home here.
Wonderful food, great place. Waiter didn't offer dessert because "they were too busy"
Melt in your mouth chicago strip and great baseball memorabilia to keep lively conversation going. Sad to hear it will be closing to make way for a new hotel soon. Get here while you still can!
Best steakhouse in Scottsdale! The creamy coleslaw is the best I've ever had! Huge portions also.
Soon closing for a new hotel. A smaller restaurant will be included in the new building.
Don & Charlie's is a must stop for anyone in Scottsdale for an awesome meal and great service.
The restaurant is covered in signed and rare sporting memorabilia which is really cool to see and explore.
The food was amazing. I had the ribeye and two types of coleslaw with a twice baked potato. It was all perfect. It is a bit pricey but if your going here you already know that.
I was on a work trip so I sat at the bar. The bartender was Amy she was very nice , attentive, and gave great recommendations as well as mad a nice Moscow Mule.
I hope to return again and try more of the food, especially the ribs done the 'owners way'
They think they are better than they are. The gross old people crackers before dinner need to be replaced with something else. They need kinder wait staff who aren t so arrogant and jaded. And the only think that s good here is the prime rib - and it s good!
The best steak in Scottsdale, the mustard salmon is delish, too.
Great upscale established sports steakhouse. I'd eat and drink there every day, if I could.
I thought I got Carson's Ribs, died & went to heaven. Miss that regular spot from Chicago. Best ribs & chicken in valley!
My sister in law & I decided to give this place a shot. The steak was amazing, drinks were great, atmosphere was cool and our server Robbie was out of this world! Highly recommend!
Good food good times. Excellent collection of baseball memorabilia.
Best steaks in Phoenix area. Sports memorabilia fantastic. Have dinner here every year when in town for Spring Training Baseball.
Awesome staff, delicious food, and perfect atmosphere! I with they had a location in Cincinnati!
Ribs are excellent as usual will be missed when closes :(
Will start with the negative first: was served the absolute worst old fashioned I have ever drank. Seemed as though the drink was one part bourbon to three parts water. Service was exceptionally slow even taking into account the restaurant was busy.
Now the good: the food. The chopped salad was surprisingly delicious and came in a hearty portion. Went with the ribs, since that seems to be the house specialty. Sauce was pretty decent and the ribs themselves were not too shabby either.
If service was a little better and served a proper drink would likely bump up rating to four stars.
Going to miss it when it closes. A Scottsdale institution.
Walls covered in multi-interest memorabilia. Comfortable seating. Bustling atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff. Good food, from basic burgers to steaks and ribs. A bit pricey, yet worth the experience.
Never had a bad meal here. A must if you are a baseball fan. :)
Most amazing food. Appetizers and prime rib the best in AZ. Fed coming back
My mom used to take us here. It will always be our family's special place.
Coming in at end if February as mom and sister are coming in from Chicago. Grew up at the old Carsons Harwood Heights location. I hope it stays open in some capacity. It is one of our favorite places.
Classy, great service delicious food. A little on the pricy side
It may sound melodramatic or overly sensitive to say that Scottsdale lost a treasured dining institution when Don & Charlie's closed last week. I had been going there for the last 29 years, several times a year. I met my first wife there in college during a group dinner for a friend's birthday. I took my friends and family from Chicago to D & C's whenever they were in town for a little taste of Chicago in the desert. A few years ago my current wife and I were there for dinner on a weeknight during the off season. We gave our order to the waitress and waited for a short time before she returned and told us there would be a delay in getting our meals and that one of our entree choices was unavailable for the evening due to a private event at the restaurant consuming said choice. She asked us if we had another entree choice in mind and my wife, who was my then girlfriend, said she would pass on anything else. I had ordered the baby back ribs and was still willing to wait for them....lol. Along comes Don himself a few moments later apologizing for the delay and offering us a drink. He then sat down with us and my girlfriend listened as Don and I recounted memories of Miller's Steakhouse in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood. We ended up chatting for quite some time before the waitress returned with my ribs and the shrimp dejonghe, which Don had convinced my girlfriend to try. At the end of the night Don Carson comped the bill as well. He is a class act. His restaurant IS iconic. They will both be sorely missed by this mid western transplant.
Went to D&C on Christmas. The restaurant was packed. I ve eaten at D&C for over 20 years. Gone is the pate with bread and the wonderful twinkle lights. I wanted short ribs but they were out. Very disappointing. I ordered fish but was told the kitchen has no tarter sauce. We had to ask the the air conditioning be turned down so it was so cold, a complaint echoed by another diner leaving the restaurant. Our waiter never offer pepper for our salads and it took a long time to get our initial drink order. Overall it was a dismal dining experience for some of the highest prices in Scottsdale.
This is a hidden gem!!! Do yourself a favor and experience the best!
Wow! This place was fantastic, food was delicious, even the Caesar salad was good, probably the best one I have ever eaten. The parmesan crusted steak was too die for. First time, but not last time.
The food is excellent! The ribs were superb and so was the chop steak. It's a cozy place to go.
Service is spot on baby. They refill drinks like crazy. And the food is amazing. Best spot in old town for ribs for sure
OMG, I love this place. The steaks are perfection. Sides are yummy and huge (plan to share). And the service is well above average. It's not inexpensive, but it's worth it for a treat. Not fancy or stuffy. Very much a Chicago vibe.
Fantastic! Great place for family dinners. Good service
and food.. Highly recommend the ribs & steaks.
Have been going here for years, but with recent changes to menu items & increase in price, I don't see a good reason to plan on dinning here in the future.
Such a neat place. Wish I had discovered it sooner. Go before they close.
Just ate my last meal there unfortunately because they are closing in 2 days. First meal was just as excellent as the last. I will truly miss this place
Always great. We have been going here for 30 years and we will miss it when they are gone.
Been coming here for years. Great ribs and steaks. Even just a plain burger here is excellent. Try their deli-style cole slaw. It's the best I've ever had. The bar is a bit cramped but they manage to keep service at a high level. During spring training if you don't have a reservation you will have a wait.
We celebrate our New Year Eve Wedding Anniversary at Don & Charlie's almost every year. We had a huge 50th Anniversary Celebration with our family & friends in 2016.
We could not get the actual
New Years Eve Date that year but it worked our better on Dec 20th 2016. The menu choices were great, the meals were delicious and everyone raved about the food and service. Could not imagine a better place to celebrate our anniversary. This year we actually got to celebrate on New Years Eve. Great meal!
Our meals were perfect. The staff is really friendly and attentive. Too bad they will be closing early in April 2019.
OK, I've been to Don & Charlie's a half dozen times and usually very happy. Last night was an exception. Three of us ordered drinks, appetizers and sides...should have stopped there. Our steaks came out well after our twice baked potatoes, (they were very tasty), salads and cole slaw. After another 15 minutes both the two ribeye and one NY strip, all ordered medium rare, came out well done. We sent those back, waited another 20 minutes. The strip my buddy had was excellent but the two ribeye steaks were the worst I've ever had! They were medium well, tough and flavorless. I took one bite of mine, chewed for a while, and spit it out. The hostess and manager, Petro, were very considerate and comped a cheap bottle of chardonnay and one glass of cabernet and even offered us some desert which we declined. All in all not the normal experience. Not sure what happened in the kitchen but no chef could have made that piece of meat worth eating, much less worth $34.95.
Historic joint specially if you are a sports fan. Steak was really good.
Stopped here while in town on business, as it was recommended by our hotel. Great recommendation! The service was helpful, personal, and spot on. Food was very good. Prices were "ok", bit the steaks were prohibitively expensive. Good choice overall.
Made reservations. Steak was good. Shredded BBQ chicken sandwich i had there was way too much BBQ sauce on it. Hotesses were very nice so was the bus boy. Waiter was horrible we were done with our food and sat there for at least half an hour then when he finally came to give us the bill it took another 20 min no way we're we ordering desert and be there for another hour. The decorations were amazing. And very fun place but probably will not go back because of service.
Best Prime Rib and Bbq Ribs in town. Staff is friendly, attentive, and makes great recommendations. Decor is a sports fan dream!
GREAT atmosphere, for baseball fans and sports fans in general. GREAT steaks! I highly recommend the blue cheese crusted filets
My very favorite restaurant closing in May the best ribs
Fantastic & lotta memorabilia to keep your eye candy busy
Food
Service
Clientele
All are past their prime
Great food. Get the ribs Charlie's way or is it Downs Way? Either way they're great. Great for groups and celebrations
Awesome food - great service - wonderful atmosphere. Will be back again.
Great place to go...except the bartender, Shelley is fickle. Can make you feel uncomfortable and not wanted.
We had to go make a final visit before they closed the doors for good.
I will say the other 2 people in my party enjoyed their food more than I did. I thought it was okay food for a huge price tag. We ordered a ton of food so we could have leftovers one last time, and I was sorry we did that. Oh well it was a good lunch the next day.
It was sooo loud we couldn't hold a conversation. As the people filtered out for the night, we realized there was great vintage music playing. My ears were still ringing from the din of the full restaurant.
Sad to see another landmark restaurant close. I would have given them another shot on a slower day.
Great value, best ribeye char ever! Try the wedge salad!
Great food in a very interesting sports bar atmosphere
Went here for our Anniversary dinner since the place we were heading to had too long of a wait. Ordered calamari and onion strings which were very decently priced for the restaurant and we couldn't even get through half the strings there was so much. They bring you bread and bagel-chips with butter which was also good. Didn't realize there was going to be so many sides that by the time we got to our entrees (prime rib and steak) I was so full I had to take most of my prime rib home. My husband and I loved the place and can't wait to come back.
Great old school, upscale steak house with sports memorabilia covering every square inch. The owner Don is always in the front welcoming guests and the staff is very attentive and on point. Haven't eaten a bad thing there yet. Get the filet and Mac and cheese.
Great dinner as always - they kniw how to make a real drink, too! Prime rib with au gratin potatoes - can't miss meal!
Had the Mustard Crusted Salmon and it was the best salmon I've ever had. The steaks were amazing, the filet was so soft and cooked perfectly (medium rare). Calamari was one of the best I've had. Memorabilia on the wall was a nice touch, lighting is low and creates a nice environment.
Smell like mold inside, dark, soggy interior. Didn't enjoy dinning at all.
My Wingz passengers said it was excellent food, better than Maestros. Service Good, older established restaurant.
I can't believe they are closing this location. Too much history to just leave behind on those walls!
