Extraordinarily overcrowded. Impossible to find a bench, machine, or even a spot for free-weights even during off hours. Probably have as many free weights as the tiny gym at the clubhouse in my parents' subdivision.

Impossibly small number of machines for the number of people it is intended to service. Also, many of the facilities, such as the squash courts, are extremely run down and need extensive repairs. Many students pay for memberships at private gyms rather than use Dodge.

I graduated from Barnard a year ago. I still can't believe I used to settle for this place as a gym. If I could do it over I would invest in a local gym membership at a place with more fitness equipment so I wouldn't have to wait in line or come back an hour later. It also could use friendlier staff (yes, that means the student employees), and a cleaner/ more modern facility in general. A workout should perk you up. But there was never any music playing or windows to even peek out at.

Free to Columbia students; access is restricted to students, faculty, staff, and their guests (with a fee). Great equipment and well-maintained, but almost always too crowded to use whatever equipment you're there for when you want to. Pool hours are pretty limited, and the only way to get to the pool is through men's/women's locker rooms, which can be very problematic for trans/nonbinary folks.

Way too crowded at all times, especially the pool for the two times it is open to the public each day. Avoid having to work out here at all costs, if its even a bit nice outside find an alternative.

Handy because it is inside the campus. However, all the facilities are always too busy. You can never be sure what your work out will be like. Some staff are very nice, others are extremely rude. Welcome to Columbia.

Get rid of all the stupid machines and replace them with squat racks and/or deadlift space. Add about 2-3x the equipment. Get bumper plates and better barbells. Then this might become a place where fitness can occur. It's not like we don't pay for it.

Though it can be very crowded here on a good day, the personal training staff is wonderful and responsive. They really teach you how to use the equipment correctly and tailor your fitness plan to your needs.

Below par weight room, that is overcrowded and equipped with old and falling apart weights. The worse part though, is the sign up sheets. Apparently this ivy league snob of a school has to do "gym" different as well. People sign up for machines rather then first comes, first served. I was in the middle of a run on the treadmill and told to get off because some chick signed up for the treadmill I was on at that time. It was the most absurd thing I've ever been put through. Truly ruins the whole purpose of a gym and if this is what great columbia university is doing maybe it should pour some money into making the gym bigger. College is supposed to offer real world experience. There's no stupid sign up sheets in real gyms!

Increasingly offering less value over any other gym due to less available unique equipment ( such as no longer having elliptical machine with real incline and less focused muscle group duplicate machines)

The place is a total dump. Dirty, over crowded, terrible staff, the A/C doesn't work. Weights everywhere. They have a policy where the members are supposed to wipe off the machines after using them. Instead they should have people "properly" cleaning the machines on a daily basis. The use of towels when working out should be mandatory!

Here, the self-proclaimed elites train in quite pathetic circumstances. Judging by the claim of this university a pathetic place. Judging by European standards just embarrassing. But this is true for the whole country.
