Scientifically a high reputation, who applies here but should think well where. Many slave-keeping groups / mobbing of leaders, v.a. female profs are bad. Doctoral students with a half-day contract should still work 12-14 hours a day, even on weekends. Postdocs with 2 annual contracts without future, then Hartz4. Group leader as I said tyrannical and often own employees playing against each other. Beware of too many Chinese people in a group, no German dares with social life / family. No work / life balance ... application process underground ... after 3-4 months you get a standard cancellation.
DKFZ is a solid scientific institution. Cuting edge science. Please, do not evaluate an institution using opinion made on several persons working there. There are also many fair scientists there. DKFZ did many worthy discoveries for humanity.

The DKFZ is one of the leading institutions in the world in terms of research and development when it comes to cancer. However, as we still have very high smoker numbers, I personally would like to see it differently positioned in terms of "harm reduction". England would be the benchmark. That happens, but it happens slowly. Which in turn costs human lives. To remain objective, it is and remains an institution of research. Only with too little courage in public relations.
