Love this theatre. The retro plush decor. A friendly greeting and an organist playing while you wait for the movie to start. The only theatre that exhibit costumes and props from the movie. Very friendly and attentive staff as well.

El Capitan used to over a great Disney film going experience. It cost extra so that we could enjoy pre-film entertainment and feel like we saw something special. It still costs double other places (and no matinee prices), but it s just an average movie theater. In fact, when we saw the newest Aladdin film, a few minutes into the film, the film broke, which was bad enough, but it happens every 10,000 showings or so, but the back up reel wasn t ready to go in case of such an eventuality. We come every couple of years, but it s getting worse, so I don t think we will anymore. We d rather go somewhere with reclining seats for the same admission price or less.

I love taking my family to the El Capitan, I have been taking them there since the Princess Diaries 2 release with the Princess Tea Party following. My kids, now ages 27 - 18 still LOVE going! We made it a tradition to go at least every year for Nightmare Before Christmas every October and a variety of new release movies as well as 're-release' celebrations!!!

This place is awesome right in the heart of Hollywood. The only issue I have coming here is the parking, be prepared to pay and arm and a leg. Great old time movie theater! If you go early you'll be able to catch the organ player.

Saw the Nutcracker tonight and it was amazing. I just think there was a lack decor. I've been here plenty of times for new Disney releases and the place is always beautifully decked out. Not this time.

The pre-movie show is amazing and specialized for each movie! I love the organ player who plays Disney music while you wait for your movie to start. The nostalgia of this theater is great and perfect for any Disney movie!

I came here to see Disney movie Coco great experience the great thing about the Capitan theater is that it has a great ambiance as a classic theater very unique look and its own way and before the movie starts most of the time there is a live entertainment in the case of Coco the movie they had a mariachi band playing definitely worth seeing a movie here and making a trip just to come to Hollywood for that reason but since it is in Hollywood you can easily plan a whole day here especially since it's across from the Kodak Theatre

Beautiful historic theater. I saw Beauty and the Beast live action. They had props and costumes on display from the movie. Gorgeous Swarovski Crystal curtain with old style elegance. Definitely a great place to see a movie.

I LOVE THIS THEATRE!

I LOVE THIS THEATRE!
Bought & beautifully restored by Disney in the late 80s early 90s.
Reopened 1991.
Upgraded projection & sound system to state of the art contemporary equipment.
The rest of the theater restored to original design.
I've been there twice to see A Nightmare Before Christmas, it actually snowed in the theater!

Great Disney establishment, with a classic Hollywood theater feel! We see many Disney and Marvel movies here, and its always a level above a regular movie theater because of Premier Presentations before and after the movie, official props used in those movies and friendly staff helping anytime! <3 plus the Ghirradelli store next door has such good ice cream and disney merch!

The sound quality of their movie was great and I loved it. The place is awesome. They have a big space for parking and a very accessible location. You will find almost what you are looking for. The prices are reasonable as well. Thank you!

Got to experience the Nightmare before Christmas in 4D as part of my very first visit to this theatre! I loved everything about it, the atmosphere, the organ player who was playing a medley of wonderful disney songs. The art decco style of the building inside and out, it's a very lush looking theatre. I highly recommend this to anyone, but especially to Disney fans! It's worth catching a film at least once in this historic and beautiful theatre. Oh, and it's located on the famous Hollywood strip, so if timed right one could easily make a whole experience out of it! Highly recommended.

Going to the El Capitan to see the latest Marvel, Star Wars or Pixar movie is a family tradition. The staff there is wonderful and will go above and beyond to assist you with whatever you need. Special shout out to Michael, the best theatre manager a theatre could ever ask for! Sometimes they have entertainment before the movie starts. The theatre is a beautiful, elegant reminder of old Hollywood, but the movie screen and sound are all modernized. Enjoy your time there!

Always a great show at El Capitan! Beautiful theater and so great to have family friendly entertainment. Love the preshows, post movie exhibitions and special events. The Disney Store/Ghiradelli soda fountain next door with free chocolate samples is a perfect stop before trekking back to the parking lot at Hollywood and highland.

Very historic, architecturally pleasing theater in the heart of Hollywood. I have been coming here since I was a child, and it really has not changed at all. That's good because the look of the theater is amazing and should not be changed, but like others have mentioned the seats could use a huge upgrade. Any movie that you see here will not be a disappointment, as they only play one show at a time for about 3 weeks per movie, and they are all big hits.

I love the ambiance at El Capitan, the pre- shows are excellent, the staff always friendly and helpful but I truly hate those seats...keep the style but update those seats and give some more leg room, please.

Had a few Disney extras - fun laser show at beginning, Mark Hamill recorded an intro message - which was nice. Seats are TINY. Very little leg room and narrow seats which detracted from the experience. The Ghirardelli square next door had an amazing white mocha!

This was my first time visiting this well known Hollywood landmark Theater and I was soooooo disappointed! I took my grandkids to see Dumbo which was also a special event and I bought VIP TICKETS for them because it included a Dumbo bucket of popcorn & a bottle of coke or whatever your choice was! We drove from upland Ca. And I understand that there would be traffic so we left 2 hrs earlier but I was never told that the streets were going to be closed because of the NAACP image awards!!! We took literally 30min to get across the street to the right parking lot and then through the crowded area and so we missed the whole event and the first 40-45 minutes of the movie! I found after since I'm not one to check my phone while driving, that El Capitan theater sent an email saying to check the traffic which of course they didn't know of the award ceremony either! Got the email that was sent to late also but then had to go through a security check also!!! SERIOUSLY???? NOT WORTH THE $$$MONEY$$$!!! THERE'S MORE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BUT WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO?!!! I just hope no one else goes through the same experience!!!
