I went with a friend for a graduation dinner. As a vegetarian I was hesitant to order anything and when looking at the menu I was hugely disappointed that NOTHING was vegetarian except for fries, onion rings and fried vegetables. :/

After dining at Dirty Al's on the Island, we thought we'd give this location a try. We ordered the fried shrimp, fish, and oyster botana. The food rested on a bed of spicy fries and came with three varieties of dip. It was all very tasty and was enough for at least three adults. As for the restaurant itself, I liked the wood motif, plus the seats were comfy. My only criticism is that it's a bit dark inside. All on all, I'd recommend this place for a nice seafood meal.

Food was good, portions were large. Service was poor, waiter never checked on us during the meal. Never offered refills, didn't bring drinks until very late and actually sent someone else with the bill. Prices were steep for the quality of food.

Dirty Al needs to standardize his restaurants! Especially the draft beer specials. You go to SPI or Brownsville! Great! McAllen they are not as friendly
They do not offer the same service or price.
That's why its usually empty or very few people go there... my opinion

Oysters were super fresh & tasty. Shrimp was da bomb & fish tacos were just alright. Cucumber martinis were deliciously refreshing & my hubby's company...the cherry on top Ambience is always nice here, as long as it isn't lunchtime, which is jam-packed!

Dirty Al's is a fairly unique venue in McAllen with its decor, the nicely dressed servers, and the southern fried food. Our food in general was pleasant; however, the fried okra was not. Our server was on top of things and checked in with us often. Will likely go back but won't ever get the okra again.

Went there for lunch today. It is a very nice place. O complaints with the service or presentation but unfortunately I really have to complain about the shrimp. We are used to fresh shrimp just off the boat. Unfortunately this shrimp wasn't. Tasted old and strong. Will not go back for seafood,

Special on oysters was no special. Oysters were very small and we even got a spoiled one. Manager replaced with 2 but told us they were small because they were on special. Service was poor. Hardly anyone in restaurant but waiter didn't know about happy hour specials, had to wait for cocktail sauce. Just overall a poor experience.

cajun food, mmm, so good. Entered near eleven, it wasn't packed. I had a cousin come into town and she asked me to go back here. Prices were average for the menu. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I loved.

The decor is nice but the food is just bad. We ordered Shrimp etouffee and the rice was way over done. If I would have added milk, I would have had rice pudding. The cheese sticks were soggy. The stuffed jalapenos had way too much flour in the stuffing and the calamari had an odd taste to them. The only thing that was descent was the tea. This will be the last time we eat at this location. It's a shame too because Dirty Al's @ SPI is great.

I have a group of friends who love to host party after party here. Birthday, anniversary, engagement, you name it, they party here for it. I could not be happier every time I get an invitation. Excellent fish, I load up on the shrimp all the time.

Went there on Mardi Gras. Disappointed there weren't any particular holiday-related specials or overt acknowledgement of the holiday. Waitress was fine, but the meal was slow in coming. Ordered the stuffed flounder, which was delicious.

The service was ok... But the food was horrible. Fried oysters should never be mushy, and everything was bland. They should drop all their Cajun food altogether...very bland. Best thing was the fried shrimp. This is a seafood place for folks who dont eat it regularly.
