The Ranch House restaurant is a wonderful experience. While we arrived too late in the evening to catch the view, we had a table along a wall of huge windows that would be a great in the daytime. My cocktail was unique and very tasty, and our entrees were both superb. I highly recommend the Huckleberry Entremet for dessert! Most importantly, our server was knowledgeable and pleasant. We will definitely be visiting here again, and I m already looking forward to it.
We don t recommend this ranch at all and have already told others about our bad experience. We had reservations and plans for 5 days at this all-inclusive resort for over three months. We originally had other plans but saw Devils Thumb online and it seemed perfect. We had numerous phone calls for making reservations and changes to scheduled activities and mentioned the all-inclusive part multiple times. We arrived and had a horse ride planned out right away, which was great, only to be surprised with a charge at the end that wasn t anticipated. We were informed at the stable that we weren t all-inclusive, but they assured us it was a booking mistake and it would get figured out in the morning when the manager arrived. We continued with the daily plans and had to explain the situation each time when it came to charges. We ended the night with a mediocre dinner at the Ranch House. We met with the manager the next morning and she informed us we didn t select the right package and the only thing we could do was just pay more than double our original price. We tried to offer a compromise by changing out a cabin to a different room, but the manager was extremely cold and uncompromising. She stated that they were fully booked but based on what we saw, and the other employees statements the place was a ghost town. The whole experience was terrible, and we left after only one night. To top it off we never received and invoice for what we ended up paying for until we called requesting it. To our surprise we had an additional charge for two drinks that somehow came out to over $100. The charge was dropped but only after another phone call where the account person hung up on us. The views and accommodations don t make up for the terrible experience.
Our experience was memorable to say the very least. If you're looking for a hybrid off the grid getaway, this resort is a gorgeous destination. We stayed for the weekend and had a wonderful time. They truly thought of everything. From robes to flip flops, the rooms are prepared in case you aren't. The food at the restaurants is delicious and all other amenities were so much fun and very well-kept. Thank you for such a wonderful time at this Colorado resort and spa. We plan to come again soon!
We are very disappointed with their customer service. My husband and I had booked the ranch several months ago for our 10 year anniversary. They called 2 weeks before our stay and said they had overbooked the last night of our reservation and didn t have anything available. That is the night that is our actual anniversary. We were very disappointed and tried a variety of options to make it work but we don t want to relocate on our last day and our anniversary. They will not refund our deposit as they said it is their policy which I completely understand had it been us who cancelled or needed the change but this was their mistake. We had searched really hard and were very excited about this trip. Replanning an entire anniversary trip in less than 2 weeks has not been ideal. Wish they would have tried to make it right and refund since it was not our mistake.
My wife and I got married there on October 6th. We drove all the way from Iowa.
Everyone was wonderful. The zip line girls were so much fun, sweet and funny. They absolutely LOVE what they do and it shows a million times over. Their personalities compliment eachother fantastically. Ugh! I hate that I can't remember their names. That is absolutely my own fault.
We stayed in one of the cabins, which was very nice. The scenery was beautiful.
Hecks had pretty good food, but our first server was slow and not very attentive. We had to ask to order drinks and it took quite some time for him to come back to take our food order. The second time we were at Hecks the waitress was GREAT! Super attentive, soft spoken and sweet.
The Ranch House WAS TERRIBLY slow, especially for not being busy. The waitress spent ALOT of time at ONE table, while it took us over 30 minutes to get our soup, at which time she took our order. Never got a refill on our drinks etc.. We ended up leaving before the meals came out-switched the following days reservation to Hecks.
Now... On to the star of the show.. STACY!! She is absolutely PERFECT!! She loves her job, the horses and guests. We eloped so it was just my, now, wife and I along with our wonderful photographer.. (if you need a photographer Check out Nina Larson-she actually recommended DTR.) Back to Stacy, she took us out on horseback to a spot she thought would be great for our vows and pictures. SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT.
I have been on a horse a couple times as a child but I was scared to do it again as an adult. She gave me lazy Ole Uncle Jesse and she couldn't have picked a better match lol. I didn't have to worry about him taking off a million miles an hour while I was on him (irrational fear).
Two days before we hit the trail she gave me a private lesson. She had total control of him and made me feel safe. Anyway.. I could go on and on about Stacy but I think everyone gets the idea. Thank you so much Stacy for making our elopement everything we hoped for.
I apologize if there are typos or grammatical errors, I don't have enough time to proof read this..
DTR gets an A++.
We had a lovely stay. The room was spectacular and the staff was helpful, friendly and awesome!! We had great hikes! Breakfast was excellent! Highly recommend this Ranch!!
