An appointment with the history of man, the earth and all that people.
From origins to today, a wonderful trip that will delight young and old.
A magnificent museum in the image of the city that houses it.
I would stay there again if only to discover other temporary exhibitions.

Finally a museum less Bobo than the Parisian museums, which arouses curiosity by its design of the collections, which wants to be accessible to the general public, in building which remains an architectural work (which pleases or not), easily accessible ... in short, a beautiful, rich museum that looks terribly like its city ...

Unfortunately, a hall was closed. Important: know French or English, otherwise you can not use interactive offer, and then you lose at least 60% of the information and knowledge remains hidden. Very nice was the appearance of a coworker, who with a few exhibits anspach visitors and in the form of a conversation has told a lot and interesting about development of life around Lyon. The building itself is worth seeing.

The museum is well organized and the exhibits are very nice. Especially those with animals x children are a hoot. The snack bar at the top is not great ... small with few seats x the influx of people in a museum .... I recommend it anyway because it is convenient to reach by bus or tramway is x soon really interesting ...

An impressive building, which has however suffered from difficulties during its work, but whose various collections (including permanent) constitute a rather heterogeneous and poorly organized. Pity !

Very nice museum, visited this summer with my girlfriend we did not have time to finish it because it is very interesting.
Different pieces on different subjects very interesting if you go to Lyon, it is a museum not to be missed!

it's the worst museum I could visit.

it's the worst museum I could visit.
If yours only passion is the modern architecture it deserves the detour you can, without paying the entrance, do the outside, the foyer and the escalators. Otherwise I do not recommend this museum at all.
As for the exhibition, where are the magnificent and rich collections of the old Guimet Museum of Lyon?
Fossils, minerals, insects, animals, mummies ... there are only a few copies left in showcases and in the middle of visiting areas.
To find the name of a species It is necessary to look for the numbered landmarks when there are some, then to find the corresponding plate not often close.
A scenography to make beautiful and refined, no chronology or family classification, vague theme by space, local often poorly lit and no sense of visit.
Great also the large windows like the birds in the dark or a console in the center allows buttons placed next to the name of the species individually illuminate the beast. It is good if you are two in the museum one who presses the button by quoting the species and the other who looks closely.
But the clean of this place and to accommodate the public with also not always watched children who play with the buttons of the blow you go your way.
Videos also not always easy to access because of the world present and then go to a museum to end up watching video so stay at home and watch them quietly in my chair.

I wanted to see the reviews so much I'm disappointed and I was surprised at the number of satisfied ones:

So yes there are local guides who are quick to praise this museum.
To believe that the Lyonnais are seized with chauvinism or try to reassure themselves by paying taxes for this financial pit both at the time of its construction (255million HT almost 5 times the original budget) than its maintenance, annual operating budget 18 million with only 4 million euros of revenue the supplement is offered by the region, sorry our taxes.
Yes again an architecture that is full of sight with a functional surface ridiculous compared to the built surface. I pass on the durability of this building built on piles in an alluvial soil not to mention its future maintenance with all its immense glazed surfaces for exhibition halls without window, canopy or skylights, a height!
Unfortunately, there are still elected officials who have enjoyed their time without thinking of future generations who will have to deal with these burdens.
When will our elected officials understand that we need to build economic, ecological, functional buildings and stop wasting public money by doing architectural competitions?

Experience different from other natural history museums.
Turned towards evolution, cleverly mixing different cultures and a playful and visual approach that delights young and old alike.
The only downside: the meaning of the visit is not always very clear!
Allow at least 3 hours to visit to have time.

Very disappointing... I cannot recommend it to anybody. The security is rude and was using abusive words to me in French (they thought that I do not understand French) as I had a small bag with me. The security asked me to open the bag and then suddenly started to take my things out!!! Not asking me, nothing. I stopped them (buy an Xray machine!) and they denied my access. Sorry but I do not want somebody to touch my personal belongings and the deposit room can be reached only after the security control.

I visited all the temporary and permanent exhibitions. I liked the cozy atmosphere with the dim lights, the objects to touch, the easy visit path.
I just struggled a little to find the parking lot which is outside and on the other side of the road.

Nice place to spend a family time. Our 2 and 5 year old girls loved the shows. Everything is easy to access and the cafe has a nice terrace with a view of the city. I recommend this museum to everyone!

I think the museum has rather interesting exhibitions. I also find that the shape of the building is interesting and can lead us to think. Moreover after a certain time (to disturb the least number of people) the museum's surroundings can be used for people who want to skate quietly

Beautiful architecture, easy access by tram, permanent exhibitions well done, colorful, with pretty parts (skeletons of dinosaurs, insects, etc.), playful areas, beautiful view of Lyon too. To do!

A unique place with an architecture that has become one of the symbols of the city of Lyon ... but also, and we know less about it, because of the interest of its exhibitions:
-the permanent on the man, his place in the living and his social organization is as interesting on the bottom as on the form (one sees at the beginning not or that goes but everything takes shape and sense progressively),
- the provisosoires: it will be up to you to judge the subject but all that I could see were quite exciting on the form: modern, immersive ...
Recommended visit.
Free admission for students and under 18s.
Very soft rates from 17h: 6 (but closing at 19h)
PS: If this opinion seemed useful, a little like would be nice, for my ego but just to know if my opinion is used for something ... or not. Thanks in advance !
