It was truly awe inspiring to be in the presence of this incredible. This single mountain is majestic.
Great visitor center with helpful rangers and a fantastic trail system. The hike up to Muir is a great way to get a taste of what Mount Rainier is all about
Omgosh!! First time there and loved it. What an experience. Tons of places to hike, walk, venture. Campgrounds are beyond beautiful. The drive around the area is gorgeous. Waterfalls are a must see. Lots of pictures to take.
Was a nice National Park. I would get there early if you want to best the crowds. My wife and I did the hike from Narada Falls to Reflection Lake and looped around the High Lake Trail. Didn't run into too many people on the trails but once in the parking lot it was a different story. Parking lot outside these spots are rather small. We were the first car in the lot at 7:45. When we finished there were cars overflowing into the center of the lot and a couple small tour buses.
Way to crowded , even for a weekday.. I suggest go very early.
One of my top two favorite places (sentimentally) in the world. We have spent countless hours cycling on all of the roads in and around Mt. Rainier National Park. We've, also, hiked there. It is just an amazing, beautiful place. If you go, here are a few suggestions:
- Paradise (visitor center, old Paradise Lodge, and lots of easy hikes);
- Sunrise Visitor Center (the highest visitor center on Mt. Rainier, great hiking, hike to the fire lookout on Mt. Fremont if you get the chance - it's a pretty easy hike);
- Grove of the Patriarchs (an easy hike into an old growth forest).
Truly beautiful and amazing experience!
It's a beautiful park to visit with nice campgrounds. Its has quite a few hike trails and interesting places to visit- creeks, glaciers, lakes, rivers, waterfalls. I went in the month of June and there was still snow there.
Once you're in the park, it's unbelievably awesome. Getting into the park however had become a hassle, as they gate entry to not allow too many cars in they park.
I've always been infatuated with Mt Rainier since moving to Washington State. It's such a beautiful mountain, yet a dormant volcano waiting to erupt once again in the near future.
Spectacular views! We were feeling a bit under the weather when we went so unfortunately our hiking was very limited. The trails we did try were excellent, but even just driving through and stopping occasionally at viewing points would have been well worth the day!
There are taller mountains in other states, but this one is closer than going to Whitney, Denali, Elbert, etc.
Beautiful landscape, great hiking area, worth the drive.
Loved it and views are phenomenal great place to go visit
Great scenic road up to Sunrise viewpoint. Many nice spots for pictures along the way.
Hiked to Camp Muir on Saturday. Beautiful day. This mountain has no bad views. It's a popular place though, so expect to share. Even at 10,000 feet.
One of my favorite places to go in the summer and winter. Lots of hiking for the whole family. So much to see and take in.
Excellent NP for seeing glaciers, hiking on snow, seeing huge cedar trees, and discovering wildlife like black bears.
Absolutely beautiful park. We drove in to Paradise and took the "Panorama Point via the Skyline and Golden Gate Trails." It is a 4mi round-trip hike (my wife's fitbit clocked it at 5.5 miles) with a 1700' elevation change. it took us about 4 hours with some stops. All in all, it was a fairly strenuous hike, and my legs were jelly by the end.
You are supposed to stay within the rock walled path in order to avoid damaging the surrounding vegetation. However, lots of people decided to ignore this and wandered outside the clearly marked boundaries, which was pretty disappointing. Despite all of the people, there was relatively little trash, which was refreshing.
We went during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most people were wearing masks (including us).
Definitely bring a camera, lots of water, and some food! It is also a good idea to arrive EARLY. We got to the park at around 9am on Labor Day weekend and only had to wait for two cars. When we left at around 1:30, the line to get in was easily 3 miles long.
Absolutely gorgeous National Park. So glad we came here. Stunning trails, gorgeous views, great campground. Mount Rainer is a treasure and a must see.
Great views from all of the road side turnouts , and clean bathrooms at the rest area
How can you not love this place. Remember to come early. Paradise parking lots were full by noon. Had to hike to get to the hike
Headed up to camp Muir. Prior to reaching the snowfields encountered marmots, a spotted fawn, and squirrels, all of whom were unafraid of humans and easily photographed. Meadows were bursting with flowers in bloom. The weather changed frequently but blue skies and sunshine were the order of the day at about 7500' elevation. Views were spectacular. Be aware of the altitude and how it may affect you.
Hiked the Pinnacle Peak trail and the Nisqually Vista at Paradise. Beautiful views and lots of flowers and wildlife. $30 to get in is a bit steep, but it was worth it.
The drive to the park is scenic. We were there just after a snow storm so it looked a lot like our home turf in Maine. Some of the scenic turn out were breath taking. Some were in the low clouds and not visible. At the entrance of the park we were told we needed to have tire chains with us even though we had a 4x4 SUV. Of course there were some to rent in the small town 6 miles back. We went back and rented the chains and entered the park. The road was snow and ice covered but passable, nothing new to us from Maine. There were waterfalls along the way and steep drop offs, very beautiful. Part way up the clouds moved in and visibility dropped to just a few feet. We made it to the Visitor Center and found it was closed. The clouds hung in the remainder of the day and we did not get a view from up there.
Paradise is like no other natural treasure! Stayed up late for ranger talk and star viewing party. Seeing Saturn's rings and Jupiters moons was incredible!
Beautiful park with nice hiking trails very crowded in season and at weekend Offseason
You can't say anything bad about this place. So much to see and so many trails.
Beautiful place. A must see if you're ever in Washington state.
How could it be any less than 5 stars? Probably one of the best national parks.
One of my favorite national parks and I've been to most of them.
My Favorite National Park with So Many Great Hikes for any level of fitness. Great drive up Views to Tough Hikes up to Waterfalls and Flowers in the Summer. Lots of Snow to play in the Winter. Camping and lots of Wildlife to see.
I was thoroughly impressed by how massive that park was. We were able to travel to bot Paradise and Sunrise locations and was in such awe. We were able to traverse both locations with a 8 month old and a 2 year old boy. The breathtaking scenery, wildlife and purity of the location was so incomparable. We where signage was not as clear as it could be, and an introductory video would be helpful to give a better background of the National park. But all in all one of the most beautiful places we have visited here in Washington State.
I have been to many of the national parks in the western US and there is NO place I would rather be then at My Rainier!
I have reached the summit and completed the Wonderland Trail and stayed at every campground in the park to many times to count.
Best National Park in the US.
Beautiful! Fresh snow on the mountain tops in early August. Lots of hiking trails and a several good places to grab a bite.
Very awesome! Went from late spring to winter all in a couple of miles
A very beautiful place if you are looking for breathtaking mountain views topped with glaciers. This is truly a park that can accommodate people of all types. Whether you are looking for a walk, hike, or even just a relaxing sit then Mount Rainier NP is a place you need to check out.
You can't find very many places as beautiful as Mt. Rainier! The ancient tree lined windy roads, stunning views, crystal clear water, snow filled cravases, and amazing animals provide one with dreamy contemplation.
We drove all the way from Portland, Oregon. It took around 3 hours drive. I have posted the pictures for Paradise Skyline Trail, the hike was awesome. It was one of my best hike ever. Took around 6 hours to complete the trail. Best of Luck.
Beautiful park with more to do than can be done. The only downside to Rainier is the crowds. Hike a bit further in, and even that disappears.
I never felt so small. One of Gods beautiful creations
Visiting Mt Rainier was the highlight of our Pacific Northwest trip. We had great weather with awesome views of the mountain top. The Paradise Lodge, with overnight accommodations was amazing.
Best national park. Mt Rainer is majestic. Can't describe it in words and It needs to be felt. Go to this place, if you have never been there before
Great family time hiking and camping here. Beautiful vistas and views.
So beautiful and tranquil in the park!! An amazing Washington gem!
Stressed out Seattlites coming to this place in droves makes the trails crowded and uncomfortable. Gorgeous though. Srunning and majestic. Too many people, but was there at the weekend.
This is a beautiful place with so much to see. Go soak in all the amazing sights. It's worth taking the extra time to visit when crossing the mountains.
Took a day trip to Tipsoo Lake, just a bit past the Sunrise entrance if you are coming from Seattle. It never disappoints. This was our first end of summer visit. Saw so many butterflies and grasshoppers. Just missed seeing fields of the fuzzy white flower below. Most were shriveled up and browned Just lovely.
The toilet situation is terrible. I had to pee on the side.
Just kidding... The place is amazing. 5/5 recommend. The volunteer old couples there were cutting out the downed trees on the trail and thanks to them we had a smooth journey coming back down.
Awesome volcano to check out while in Washington. I lucked out and went on a clear day, there's web cams that you can check before going. All the view points along the way are worth stopping at. A lot of waterfalls to stop and see. Mostly everything is seen by car but there is a lot of trails to hike if you're interested. Nice place to spend the day at.
Mount Rainier is a big volcano seating very close to Seattle. It has been domain for some time. The highest point is at the Columbia Crest which is the exit ring of the volcano. 14410 feet.
The only entrance with Mount Rainier label is at Southwest entrance at Nisqually Entrance if you want take a picture you are here. There are several attractions in this national park. Paradise Point, Steven Canyon, Box Canyon, Longmire Museum, Grove of Patriarch, sunrise. This are a few things you need to do if you have a short visit.
Mount Rainier is like moody mountain. When clouds cover, you may not see the top for few days. Along south route, there is a lot of walk to waterfalls. Very close to driveway. Very convenient for the visitor.
This park need to plan ahead. I would said spend a day in the Paradise Inn in the park if you can get a room there. It is beautiful and quite at night.
There is so much to see around this mountain! Make sure to do your research ahead of time and know where you re going because you won t have service to use GPS directions. The drive to the top of the mountain gets a little nerve-wrecking because it s so high up and not all of it has guard rails! Don t look down if you re afraid of heights! My suggestion, if you have a day or two- go to Paradise area. You enter a fee site at paradise but once you re at the gate the rangers can give you directions and MAPS! The maps are very useful. They ll show you different lakes, waterfalls, hikes, restaurants, stores, museum and more! To enter the National Park through this gate can be costly for some. An America the beautiful pass can be purchased ahead of time and if you plan on going to more than one National Park, it could save you money. We drove to the top of the mountain- stopped at many lookouts, camped down the mountain, then the next day we went a few other directions- went through the Paradise Fee site and once through the gate we drove to the museum which is across the road from the National Park Restaurant & Lodge/ gift shop, had lunch- burger & fries, microbrew ($7.00), and fish & chips. Then we hiked two hikes. Our first hike was the closest to the gate and only about a mile round trip. It was short and took us though a tree-tour . Along the route were little signs with information/history about the enormous trees. There is also a cool bridge that allows one person at a time for a reason! The bridge moves and the wood holding it together is warped and warn. The second hike was into Carter Falls. We had our two kids with us and the way to the Falls was a tough one, packing the little ones along for a 1.1 mile uphill haul, got our muscles burning. The trip back was fast and easy- downhill the whole way back. The hike was really nice though. The hike was along the river, beautiful trees, flowers, nature, and the beginning of the trail starts in a bed of really neat rocks, then you must cross the dirty river on a big log with one rail on one side. Be cautious if you have kiddos! The Mount Rainier National Park is a Place I ve wanted to explore for quite a long time. We had a great time and enjoyed the Paradise and getting away from it all!
Pristine magnificent meadows lay beneath mamouth, yet fast retreating glaciers, a must see before they're gone altogether.
Paradise skyline trail was one of my most impressive trails. 5 miles took us about 4 hours.
Definitely need to prepare for snow.
Amazing place, spend with ur love ones ... nature, beauty of mountains , Fresh air, trees you will feel all at once s. My favorite spot is reflection lake.
Absolutely beautiful national park. Was a bit cold and damp the day we were there. But still absolutely beautiful.
I only was able to visit for the day, but it is so beautiful! We took the trails near Tipsoo Lake. There is a nice little picnic area and plenty of parking. There are quite a few trails in that area and much to see. Although there were some flowers, most were gone. We we will have to visit a couple weeks earlier to catch the flowers in bloom. One day is definitely not enough, but if you only have a day I d still recommend.
Great park. Loved experiencing all four seasons as we headed to Paradise observation area. So odd to be standing in snow on the last day of June. Great scenery.
Awesome experience. Took the gondola ride to the top. Very impressive views. The resturant up top was horrible service and very expensive for what you actually get. Eat first.
I d like to express my sincere thanks to the US forest ranger service in providing an excellent tour of Mount Rainier national Park and there Museum
I would also like to add my sincere thanks to the US forest ranger service and remembering and knowing the history of the US Army 10th mountain division that trained on Mount Rainier and in Paradise Valley in 1941 and 1942
I also like to add that the US forest ranger service show me the memorial of the 10th mountain division they have that Shirley brought me home to my roots of being a 10th mountain division Veteran
Mount Rainier national Park is an excellent place to take your family and friends and service members and veterans you will love
Once you go there you will want to come back
I do advise anyone who wants to go to Mount Rainier national Park to get there early and the sites you will see is unbelievable and so beautiful have your camera ready
Beautiful place. The hike was great, the views were stunning. As a recommendation, bring a bug spray with you, there are many bugs at the top.
Absolutely stunning! The hikes up are challenging but there are enough to choose from here that you will have no problems finding one to fit your skill level. there are few to no bathrooms on the trails so make sure you go at the visitor center. If going in the summer, remember that it gets colder and windier the farther you climb, so pack wisely. there are few trash areas on the trail, so bring a bag to store anything you want to throw away.
Excellent park within close distance to Seattle. Glaciers are depleting but still alive. Excellent views across park. Wonderful views from both Sunrise point and paradise point.
It sit, I stare, I weep softly in the wind. For on this earth nothing shall rise like this regal mountain.
Beautiful place. It was extremely crowded the day we went. 2 hours in line to enter the park at the gate we went through. Mountain is gorgeous! Watch the time if you want to eat in the restaurant at the visitors center. It closes in the afternoon between lunch and dinner.
Hiking on Mount Rainer, especially in December where White powdered Snow filled centuries Old trees, was fun and beautiful. We were a group of 8, one lady from Columbia who enjoyed it like it she was 12 years old. We all showered ourselves with Snow, made a "Trump" like Snowman and walked for hours. Wear the right shoes and bring some quick to be eaten snacks and water along. The views and the many trails were awesome.
Beautiful place , perfect for camping , amazing landscapes. Excellent family s trip.
This is an awesome location to enjoy nature at its best. Nature hikes for every level and expertise. Paradise Nature Center provides an info center, a gift shop, a restaurant with sitting areas inside and outside. Restrooms are also available here.
Went here back in September 2016. Saw a kid getting kidnapped at a gas station nearby and another one running away. The younger kid went super saiyan and nearly destroyed the gas station. Luckily they managed to escape without any problems. Views were spectacular though #lifeisstrange2
one of my favorite National Parks. Was there when the wildflowers were in bloom, great views. I have to say that this is one of my favorite national parks. The scenery is superb. Mount Rainier with it's ice and snow, wildflowers along the trails, lakes and also waterfalls. The drive through the park is a real pleasure. Very good visitor center.
Went up to visit friends and had a great time. Beautiful place to play.
