Dells Boat Tours Review

Up the river to another world. Who knew? The boat ride was really fun, it did get cold, come prepared. We saw eagles. Our favorite part was the walking portions. The amazing rock formations and the Beautiful trails, and even snack bars. The famous jumping German Shepherd was cool too. Have your camera ready. Totally worth the price.

This is always such a nice trip especially if you have a group that wants to go together

We did the Upper Dell tour boat and the Lower Dell jet boat. The Upper tour gave you some nice historical info and you were able to get out at 2stops. The jet boat was fun and yes you get wet. I think both would be enhanced a bit but both were good tours.

Hightpoint of our trip!! We absolutely LOVED the Upper Dells Boat Tour. The easy walk in Witch s Gulch was incredibly beautiful and made the whole trip worthwhile! I have never seen such rock formations and beauty! We also loved the stop at Stand Rock as well as viewing the beauty on the lake. Our captain and guide-both young ladies, were professional and friendly. This was such a relaxing tour filled with great beauty. Do not miss this when you come to the Dells!

Beautiful scenery, comfortable boats, captain Amy and guide Ben were the best and made the trip most enjoyable. Loved the chance to get off the boat twice - once did a lovely walk between narrow eroded walls and once to see the dog jump the gap between Standing Rock and the bluff. Great time!

The jokes were fun and corny, the trip was beautiful, and the information was very interesting.

Highly recommend! Wonderful time for a family with young children. Staff was extremely friendly, sites/landscape stops were awesome. Learned a lot and really enjoyed our time on the 2-2.5 hour tour.

Wow! From the moment we stepped aboard the crew was professional and friendly. Abby, our tour guide, was a local high schooler who really knew her stuff - fun and entertaining. The views are amazing and the stops along the way...wow! Unlike anything I have ever seen. Just stunning. My entire family enjoyed it (11-40yrs) a must see if you re looking to add a little education and break away from the go carts and water park.

Capt. Chris and tour guide Jenna were great! Beautiful surroundings presented in a wonderful way. The boat was very well maintained, clean and comfortable. Loved the witch's canyon!

This is a must do if in the Dells! Absolutely beautiful. If you can only do 1 of the tours this is the most scenic and beautiful.

The ghost boat tour wasn't too scary for our 10 year old, even at the late 8:30 tour. Will definitely come back and do a tour during the day so we can enjoy the scenery and rock formations in cold water canyon.

I loved this. The Dells Boat Tours are the attraction that made the Dells what they are today. A boat tour is the one thing I would say you have to do when you are here. They are the whole point.
You get to see some really cool rock formations, beautiful riverscapes, Hear some good stories and tales, visit Witches Gulch, and watch the dogs jump across to the jumping rock. They still make postcards with the sites on the Dells Boat Tours.
We went in October and though cold it was still wonderful.
If you've ever been to the Wisconsin Dells and not taken a boat tour you have missed out for sure.

It was a cold tour yesterday, but I also enjoyed this the most! Abby & Abby did a great job making the trip enjoyable with their puns, dads across America would be proud. The sights were beautiful. But I really cannot say enough about the staff. From the very beginning the staff was incredibly grateful that we chose to go on their boat tour. Although I did not like the fact that they try and force you to buy a picture of yourself boarding the boat for $20 at the end.

OMG! Excellent boat trip that I have done, my children loved it, it was very fun and very informative, the staff were super friendly and funny, I will not forget the laugh of our co-pilot Alex (ha, ha, ha!) And I loved his attempt to speak Spanish . We didn't have a super fun time.
It is definitely worth the tour! I recommend it .

Amazing ride, so beautiful! The river and history behind it is way better than the other attractions of the Dells. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

This was SO good I had to come back a second time this year. It's the best thing to do in The Dells.

This boat tour is what the Dells is all about. Do not miss the Upper Dells boat tour. It takes you to witches gulch which is a gulch formed from erosion. You walk through it about 300 ft on a boardwalk. The sides are up to 40 ft high. At the end is an awesome snack shack with nachos, burgers, coffee, pop, beer and more. Great prices too. The second stop is standing rock. The boat drops you off on a dock with a path. This is where action still photography was invented and proven back in the 1800's. You can't fake this picture because you have to jump about 6' over a 40' drop to the rock. There is a little show for you with a dog too. This is why the Dells is world famous, not for waterparks. The duck boats do not take you to these places.

A one-of-a-kind experience no one should ever miss.

Had such a blast! Really worth the money! It was a two hour trip and the weather was gorgeous! Overall we just had an amazing time!

This was definitely worth it. A very fun boat ride where you get to see a unique part of America. You get a sense of the history of the Dells and just how old they are.

We really enjoyed this tour. Loved all the cheezy humor in the guides script. The 2 stops we we made were a great way to stretch our legs and see some very interesting areas

Informative and scenic boat trip with 2 stops. Note that the deck chairs are too small to accommodate larger people (the metal arms are too close together and squeeze you during the ride).

Such a great experience! This boat tour takes you around the northern part of the Dells, where you can see the amazing rock faces and take a trip through some inlets. The trip is about 2 hours total, and you're entertained by some great puns made by the tour guide.

This is great family fun trip. The German Shepherd that jumps the canyon is amazing! Definitely worth adding to your trip to the Dells!

I went with my son who is 5 and my friends and her kids. The kids actually enjoyed it and the tour girl Gabriel was awesome plus it was her birthday. Amazing totally recommend it.

Upper tour. Nice relaxing 2 hour ride with good tour guides. Not enough time spent at walk off points. Would be nice to stay and take the next boat back.

My family had a great time on the tour. It's a two hour slow (15 mph) Cruz up and down the river. It's a great way to see the way the origin of the Dells. The tour guide was funny and informative. But didn't talk the whole time so you can enjoy the peaceful boat ride. The boat makes two stops. First stop is an easy walk on a boardwalk for about two blocks in and out. Second stop is up and down a slight incline but isn't that difficult.
We also went on the jet boat tour which we also highly recommend. But be prepared to get wet!

The upper Dells tour still does the Stand Rock dog jump!

My husband and I had an amazing time on the second leg of our honeymoon. The first week was Hawaii and we both agreed the sunset dinner tour was by far better than any of the tours we took in Hawaii. We loved the dinner cruise so much that the next day we took the Upper and Lower tours... all wonderfully relaxing and beautiful!! We will be back!

We've done the Ghost Boat tour here a few times; always a good time and an entertaining way to see the Upper Dells. Witch's Gulch is especially nice; both in the summer when it's nice and cool and in the fall when it's just super-spooky.

Make sure to do the Halloween version of the Ghost tour as well; some of the gags they set up in the gulch are sure to please.

The only reason I dock this a star is because there's little-to-no crowd control in the gulch, so any opportunities to be remotely scary are completely lost on being jammed into the end of the canyon with 300 other people (most of whom are very drunk and very rowdy by then). They either need to space the tours out more or staff the gulch with people who will hold traffic back, not unlike other haunted attractions.

Definitely worth the steep price tag, either way. :)

I have been on a few boat tours around this country so I can honestly say this one was just okay, assuming you've never, ever been on a boat before. We went on both the upper and lower tours. Both were too short to be worth the price. They were mundane for the most part, with one stop on the upper to get ripped off at a tourist trap and another to watch a dog jump. The lower was even more boring. I cannot recommend this attraction.

I was a bit disappointed. The dog did not even jump because it was too "slippery" from the rain which was a big bummer. Also, it was POURING rain which made the ride stressful. People had to cram into the bottom part of the boat which was quite stressful and crammed. There were also a few people on the boat that made the ride very unpleasent. (Like people taking the mic from the captain/tour guide and made crummy jokes.) I just think this tour is way to long. It is over 2 hours. The boat tour really consumes you're time at the dells. I think it would be more fun if it was under 2 hours. The view is very pretty though. The board walk was enjoyable though. :) So if you ride the tour boat.. check the weather forcast and try not to run into irritating people.

Called ahead, arrived early, spoke with ticket agent about Covid 19 safety! Told they were only booking at 70%. First stop, while on a 3' wide walk into a canyon another boat docks and 30-40 people, no masks, rushed by us within 6". Social distancing signs are posted everywhere but not followed! Employees do not wear masks!

Great way to spend the morning, way better than the ducks! Our crew on the Dolly was fantastic and don't forget to tip.

We went on bit of a windy, cooler day but sat behind the captain and tour guide. Both were very professional and attentive. Witches Gulch is a bit of a hike but you will see so much besides the rock formations! The water rushing under it is so loud you can hardly hear someone talk. There is a concession stand and bathrooms at the top turn around that is fairly good and reasonable!

The tours were quite fun. We got to go on a beautiful 80 degree day, so the weather was perfect. Unfortunately we didnt get too wet on the jet boat ride but it was still fun

This was a great tour for the whole family! We did the Upper Dells Tour. It was about 2 hours with two landings. Beautiful scenery and great opportunities to take some nice photos. You also get to learn about the history of how to dells came to be. Erin was our tour guide and she was great!

Our family had so much fun on the Upper Dells Tour! Our guides Jacob, Laura and Gabe were FANTASTIC! They made the tour even more enjoyable. Our favorite part was the walk through the Witches Gulch. I would definitely repeat this tour again when in the area.

After 3yrs coming to Dell I finally try the boat tour and It was an alright 2hrs trip and bit over price. I gave it 3 stars cause the tour guide was funny.

Ah this one offers really good experience. Staff is super friendly and the tour itself is around 90 minutes and they have 2 stoppages. Ship has both inside and outside seating arrangement.

We very much enjoyed the upper Dells boat Tour, we sat in the lower part in the boat to stay out of the sun and to avoid the lawn chairs since i am a bigger lady and enjoyed it very much! Our guide and captain and captain in training were very amusing and helpful. I could of been on this ride all day, I loved it with all the beautiful scenery.
