The Dells boat tour is a very nice place to see all of the landmarks on the sides of the river. The only problem is the top of the boat gets very slippery when there is a little bit of water moisture or rain. Otherwise the tour guides are awesome and make it for a great trip.

Very relaxing and enjoyable. I loved being able to get off the boat and explore during the "land excursions". The staff of the Gen. Hailey was awesome, and the tour guide's jokes are the best!

Fabulous views on the river. Tour guides and boat captain gave a wonderful tour. Water evaporating from the rock cools you 5 to 15 degrees making it a great adventure on a hot day. Two stops along the way for restrooms, snacks and nature trails.
Absolutely beautiful views! Blue and white boats.

Upper dells were gorgeous, nice bit of history from the the guides, and a couple of walkways with excellent views to break up the boat ride. Seats were uncomfortable and lower deck seats limited the view. Still an essential tour if you want to see the area's beautiful scenery.

These boat tours are always amazing and they never change! With all the water parks increasing their level of tourist-bait Wisconsin Dells Boat tours has stayed the same for many years. It s a classic must-do when you come to the dells. I went once in 2003, and again in 2018 and it has NOT changed one bit.

The upper sells is the one to with for sure, Don t waste your time on lower (exact words from tour guide) This allows you to go in the inlets of the rocks through this gorgeous pathway called Witches Gulch

Photographer tips:

Wait for all the tourists to pass and stay back to get great shots without people in them.

Have your shutter speed set so It allows you to take the picture of the dog jumping from one rock to the other in mid air.

The front row would be the best for pictures otherwise the blue bars will be in the way of your shots while on the boat.

This could be a great location for someone who wants beautiful portraits they could model for.
Don t bring a tri-pod. The room in the boat is limited.

Had such a good time on the tour, two hours on a boat for less than $35 would be a deal no matter what, but adding the stop at Witches Gulch and at Standing Rock was added bonus! Both are absolutely amazing, not to be missed! I'm glad I took the Upper Dells tour first, it's a slower ride on the water and you see all kinds of things along the way. Next time I'll take the jet boat ride just for the fun of it, those pilots drive those boats just like they were intended to! LOL! Highly recommended these tours!

Good tour. it is a long tour. If it is a hot day go inside the boat and enjoy the ride. They stop along the way at a few places. They are easy walks with refreshment stands don't be afraid to get out and walk when they do let you out you miss so much if you just sit on the boat.

I've been coming to the dells for over thirty years and have seen a lot this year we tried the jet boat tour I would recommend this to any family it was amazing the views of the sandstone are spectacular I've been to many different places along the Wisconsin river and dells boat tour is the only place you can go to see witches gulch they take you there and dock so you can walk through the gorge and it's something that you will never see any where else on Earth if you go and aren't amazed contact me and I'll pay for your admission! Oh yeah and the boat ride was very fun 360 spins reverse drops you will get wet so bring a swim suit and towel for after and a zip lock to keep your camera dry and don't forget your camera have fun and enjoy

While researching my trip to the Dells, I saw on TripAdvisor that if you want to see Witches Gulch that you have to take this tour. Initially that kind of bugged me that it is not something you can see on your own (the owners of the tour company own the land) but the tour was very nice and we had a great time. The Wisconsin River was beautiful and Witches Gulch was incredible. I definitely recommend this tour.

We went on the Upper Dells tour. Even though it was two hours, it went by fast. The views and two stops helped to keep us entertained, including our 5 and 3 year olds. The captain and guide were hilarious. We had Emma and Anika and they provided clean jokes for quality family fun. The sites were beautiful. This tour was well worth the money and provided a great family experience. Would highly recommend.

This was my 3rd Upper River boat tour, which I absolutely love! I would highly recommend it under normal circumstances!
I'll start with the positives. The 2 stops the tour takes you to are private land, so you have no other opportunity to see them. And they are truly spectacular and worth experiencing!!!! This time, we added the Lower-River boat tour as well. It is picturesque and worth seeing, but if you have to choose, the Upper-River is a winner!
The tour guides and the captains have always been excellent, funny, sweet, very knowledgeable and informative.

The reason for the 3-stars is the apparent lack of acknowledgement of the global pandemic and the seeming lack of attempt to implement precautions of ANY sort! Additionally, I was lied to about safety measures in place when I called to inquire. I was told that there was 6 feet distance in their ticket lines and 70% capacity on the boat to allow space between seats.

That was a complete lie! There was nothing of a sort. And almost no employee wore a mask.
We were lucky, as our tour wasn't very full, so we could choose to sit (while waiting for the boat) away from the crowd and then kept a few open seats between us and other parties on the boat. There was no 6 feet separation, nor seating designation, so many of the guests (unrelated parties) piled up in the front of the boat. Also, the 2 stops have narrow board walks. We waited to go last and left space between us and the people ahead of us. Everyone else seemed to breath in each other's neck.

The Lower-River boat tour, likely due to a lack of popularity, was much safer, as there were only 3 parties with a total of 9 on the entire boat, so we could sit separately and away from each other.

Overall, we were shocked to see the lack of respect for safety measures in Wisconsin Dells by employees and guests - no masks, no distancing in restaurants and almost everywhere else we walked by.

We just came back from a trip in Door County - completely different story there!

Come on, Wisconsin Dells, you can do better!

You Need To See Witches Gulch! Just go ahead and add it to your bucket list now, and cross it off soon. It's amazing, and the boat tour is the best way to see it. I'll let the pics speak for themselves, but the really don't do it justice. Go. See it.

Really fun 2 hour excursion. The upper dells tour offers a look into the history of ancient rock formations and the Wisconsin dells themselves. The boat crew were humorous, accommodating, helpful, and kind. The witches gultch was my favorite spot, and was easily accessed during the tour. I had confused these boats with duck boats, but still had a great time. Would highly recommend these tours if you like scenic and historical significant locations.

They made us wait 35 minutes just so they could cram as many people as possible on the boat. Oh well, gotta maximize that profit while the crew mills around doing nothing. Once they let us finally start to load, they pulled the stunt where someone sort of coerces you into having a picture taken of you to try and make you pay for one at the conclusion of the ride. This greatly slowed down loading time.

I thought that Abby was a cute knowledgeable cute tour guide, but the script they gave her was filled with jokes that were painfully awful.
