One hour from Cairns by Cessna. Arrive in paradise Starting with the scenery from the high ground airport, a full service resort life begins. In Cod Hole you can eat your hand at Cod more than 1 meter (it's fine because there are no teeth). I went to work twice. You can not usually go ...

Me and my bestfriend went there for a week and we had the most amazing time , the staff always went above and beyond for us. They have a set dinner menu which me and my friend didn t eat some of the time (basic eaters) and they always were happy to make us something different that wasn t on the menu with no problem at all. Stunning place and so much to do ! We didn t want to come home.

Highly highly recommend lizard island if you want to experience amazing customer service and amazing views with lots of adventure.

My wife and myself spent there the last days of our honeymoon.. and we couldn't have taken a better choice! The resort is all you need to feel you reached paradise: tiny hideout beaches for yourself, high quality restaurant, amazing rooms, all amenities / alternatives you may wish to have when you are in a remote island. We will be back!

Good service and very good food! Unfortunately, very very weak Wi-Fi. A cool action I found the trip to a bay where due to the flow of plastic was washed up a lot. We then collected 3 baskets full of plastic waste within 30 minutes. On the return flight with the small propeller machine also 3 people from the staff flew along. One of them said goodbye to his colleague who stood in front of the machine with a "finger finger". You do not have to have that on the last day either ... give with one eye 5 stars.

My wife and I live in the UK and flew out to get married on the island at the start of January 2014 and it was just amazing. The island is obviously stunning and the staff were fantastic, especially as we weren't even supposed to be there!

Heron Island, our original destination, had a fire on Christmas Day and we were fortunate enough to be moved to Lizard Island along with our photographers and now third celebrant for no extra cost, we massively lucked out and we cannot thank the company enough for doing this!
We were in the middle of a four week round the world trip and finding out 10 days before arrival, whilst packing to leave New York, that your wedding venue was shutdown due to a fire was fairly stressful. But with the help of a fantastic customer services manager, a lot of late night Skype calls to Australia and the UK we resolved most of it in about 4 hours, seriously, outstanding customer service!!

We were really well looked after when we arrived, the staff took us out on the boat to scout for the spot to get married (we were having a beach wedding) and we chose Secret Beach on one of the neighbouring small islands (Palfrey Island), it was just perfect.
After getting married late afternoon we got back to the island and the wife was getting really overheated so the staff took us to the freezer in the kitchen to cool down, where else would you get that service?!

The food was unbelievably good, especially the dessert on our wedding meal, oh and I got to try Morton Bay Bug for the first time too which was great!

The accommodation was beautiful and everything you could want and more was there. Water flower bowl in the front porch, tranquil music playing on the sound system... great touches!

Sadly the island suffered a lot of damage very shortly after we left after a typhoon went directly through the island, I even checked the reef monitoring sensors and you could tell that they got the eye of the storm.

That said, having seen the new videos and pictures after the rebuild the island is now looking better than ever!

We will be going back one day to celebrate a major wedding anniversary and we cannot wait.

Thank you Lizard Island for making our wedding so memorable!!

Remote, expensive, incredible, your only choice for pristine waters and healthy corals. Lizard Island is truly a once in a lifetime destination.

The rooms are large sized, you get a patio to lounge around. All amenities you expect - a special callout for the excellent toiletries. The room rate includes the bar and snacks (wine, soda, beer, water, macadamia nuts, trial mixes, pop corn and more). The beds are comfortable, with good linens.

Take your time to go to turtle beach, clam garden, and, a must do, The Wall (I have never seen more healthy corals and fish of every size including a couple sharks!). Reserve the Dingy for a whole day (as soon as you get there as they run out) and get a picnic basket so that you can go to all the snorkeling locations at your own pace.

We highly recommend the hike to the blue lagoon and Chinamans ridge. The views are spectacular, and sweating it out is a good change.

We also recommend the outer reef diving trip. A bit expensive, but where else are you going to be 12 meters down with crystal clear clarity and potato cods that bump into you?

The food at the resort is really great for a couple days, after which it does get repetitive. Disappointingly, the breakfast is rather meh (even the Hilton at Crains had more choices). A special callout to the Dessert Chef, everything she made, Everything, was delectable.

The staff at the resort are absolutely wonderful, everyone happily goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay.

An amazing place that needs to be seen to be believed. The relaxed but high end luxury resort enables you to unwind whilst every being surrounded by untouched nature. The food is world class, the wine list is extensive, there are endless activities including diving in the Great Barrier Reef. Seriously if you re thinking about coming here - don t hesitate - book immediately - it s wonderful in every way

You have beach houses that are beautiful, comfortable and modern and are right in front of the beach, although there are some plants for privacy. The beach is spectacular, crystalline waters and white sand.

The restaurant has great views and even better food. It s delicious particularly the dinners. And they prepare picnics for you to take for lunch if you wish to.

The beach house is where you can book your activities (for a prize) and you can also rent a kayak or a dingee boat for free. In the first week of January it was high season so I d recommend booking it quickly or even before arrival.

The reef is right next to it so you can book a dingee boat or even swim to it on your own.

There s also a spa, I didn t book anything but I ve heard pleased reviews.

The only possible complaint is the WiFi, you only have it in the restaurant and even then it s weak. But since it s an island an hour away from the continent on a small plane I think it s understandable.

My wife Maureen and I had the pleasure of staying there. It is truly a magical place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was out of this world. The room was very comfortable and the view was out of this world. Even though it s far from New York I will try to go back and swim in the corals with the fish.

I could go on and on about how fantastic and exquisite this place is. Absolutely wonderful staff all around and very personable. Spa is nice, but could use more training in massage therapy. As a PT & LMT getting frequent massages, I didn't think it was up to par. One thing I've learned, from traveling to spas all over the world, is some of the most beautiful places do not have the greatest spas. Food & chef is amazing and I sincerely mean that. Great place to explore and just fill your soul with rejuvenation!

Book accommodations and activities well in advance during high season. The turtles feed nearby in the same location so it s almost a guarantee to see them! World renowned Cod Hole diving site is well worth the trip. Rooms are cozy. Service is wonderful. Food and drinks are all inclusive. We had a fantastic stay.

The place is perfect for people who wants to have some time away from the busy city. My husband and I loved the vibe that the place gave off. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful, cozy and spacious. My most favorite part of the resort was the view that you can see while dining and swimming!. We will surely go back her! I highly recommend the place!

The island is ideally placed, and the daily diving excursions are amazing, and the friendly crew were extremely helpful. Even just snorkeling of the beach right in front of our unit, we saw green turtles, giant clams, and a variety of reef fish.

Arrived to Lizard Island on a private yacht and tried to book a table in resort's restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary but been refused, tried to have a coffee in the bar - not allowed, asked to buy any Internet access - not possible, make your own opinion. The island is beautiful by the way.

You have to experience it to believe it. Sort of a Fantacy Island with Paul. We loved this place. Watson's cove clam garden is amazing. Better than the inner reef excursion except for the moon jellies...

Stayed there back in 96 still one of the most memorable hotel stays in my life from the trip in from Cairns to diving the COD HOLE easily the best dive site in the world . Food and accommodation second to none. Night dive off the beach to the massive brain coral only to find a sea turtle asleep there with a parrot fish cocooned in its sleep coat .BBQ on the beach with some very strange guests. The walk upto Cooks Viewpoint :)

I enjoyed gourmet menus, different every day. Free-flowing juices cocktails champagnes beers wines were all inclusive. Two private tables right on the beech. The difficulty of getting there added to the charm.

Lizard island is a wonderful place to visit. It is still pretty much pristine and untouched by humans. The beaches are magnificent the snorkeling is amazing. The nation park has sign posted various walking trails so you can explore and find the best sites. There is a resort you can stay at but I believe it pricey, camping options are available and also day trips. I flew in with Dantree Air who were great. Snorkeling is best when winds are from the SE. If winds are from the north stingers will most likely be present. Black tip reef sharks frequently swim close to you however are much too small to be dangerous. The coral reefs are only about 30 meters from the shore and are beautiful. As this place is so isolated you may find that you have the whole place to yourself.

I stayed in the Lizard Island Resort during the last week of September and had such a wonderful time. If I had to describe this place in a few words - which may not be fair - I would say: privacy, pristine waters, untamed nature, breathtaking beaches. Fortunately, I was able to stay there for 7 days, and I would have been really sorry If I had chosen to stay less than this. There are plenty of activities to do and the resort is very organized about this. They were always trying to accommodate everyone's preferences and made all possible efforts to meet our expectations. The food was delicious and the picnic hampers are definitely a must. The ocean view rooms are gorgeous. I'm already missing my days there when I used to wake up and have my morning tea looking at the turquoise sea from a comfortable window seat. If you have chance to go to this place, don't think twice. It is a unique experience. It is going to be tough to find a place to beat this.

Ive been working on a million dollar villa on the island for over twelve months and love the fact that due to c19 we basically have the whole place to ourselves, myself and the four team members i work with and when the wind stops blowing which is not very often we jump in our boats and go out to the continental shelf which is only a half hour away and spend the day out their enjoying some time off Spearfishing and fishing and just exploring this beautiful part of the world

This resort has the best access to the Great Barrier Reef. It has dive/snorkel trips to either the inner reef or outer reef every day and the staff deliver a great experience. The snorkeling immediately off the beach is the best I've seen at any place I've ever stayed at. The also have private beach dropoffs where you can spend the morning or all day alone on your own beach.

The food is included and is spectacular. The chef provides custom menus if you have specific dietary requirements. Every meal was excellent and the included wine/alcohol is very good. The extended wine list is pretty good with a couple of Grange bottles available for the truly dedicated.

The rooms are air-conditioned and perfect with a view of the beach and a back deck that is 10-20m from the sand.

The swimming pool is nice and is next to the TV/internet (AC) room so there is wifi access to the satellite downlink they have. Connectivity is sufficient for email and news-reading, but when shared with even 5 people, can bog down.

We visited in mid-March and while summer was winding down and also in the rainy season, we saw sun nearly the entire time (>80% sunny) and experienced 10 minutes of rain in 5 days.

Lizard Island Resort is expensive. The flight RT from Cairns is about an hour and costs $500/person but is quite comfortable (15-passenger Cessna 208b Caravan). With that,
this is the best place I have stayed at in my life.

Wow

Words do not even begin to describe the experience here. We were waited on attentively from the time was stepped off the airplane to the time we got back to the airstrip - service was next level and the grounds were simply unbelievable.

Food and wine were very impressive - far and away the best dining we've ever done at an all inclusive resort, and the food heavily features local in-season ingredients. Menus change daily and are creative and varied - we looked forward to every meal.

Activities are super well catered, and staff are haopy to help you find anything to do at any time. We stuck to the private beaches, with dropoffs in the morning and pickups in the afternoon.

The beaches were breathtaking. Not only the most beautiful we've seen anywhere in the world, but we also had them literally to ourselves. It's so remote, and the resort is so small, that you can reliably get your own beach daily. Make sure to check out the turtles! Also, they packed us delicious lunches every day with all the wine we wanted!

I can't express how magical Lizard Island is. It's just a completely *other*, next-level place. It is worth any amount of money to go.

I'd like to shout out to Ottavia for incredible, friendly service day after day while we were dining, and Dan for his patient beach dropoffs and pickups. Our lunch had a wine with a cork, and he trekked all the way back to the resort, then back to our beach, just to bring us a corkscrew. Thanks!

This is a glorious place. Every detail is thought of. Anything you need is provided. Relax or choose your adventure. Sailing around the island, hiking to Cook s lookout, diving the barrier reefs, paddle boarding, walking the beach for shells, the spa...there is enough to do to spend quite a bit of time recharging away from the real world.
Leave your cares behind and get sun kissed!
