DeKalb County Board of Health Reviews

I called because I had a simple question and their front desk/ other representatives are horrible. I had to wait 15+ minutes for a yes or no answer.

My experience is with the DeKalb County Office of Vital Records (part of the DeKalb County Board of Health). I had misplaced my daughters birth certificate (I know, terrible...), and I needed a few copies quickly and was DREADING having to go to this office (don't generally have good experiences with government offices). Well, I was very surprised with how well oiled and efficient this office was. Parking was a breeze, the instructions were very clear, the process was very clear and easy, and the county worker that helped me was SUPER nice and kind (and a badass, since she was answering calls on a wireless headset while helping me without missing a single beat... very impressed). This is honestly by 3rd experience with a DeKalb County government unit and I have been very impressed with County operations soo far! (Except for watershed... they need some help). Either ways, thanks Office of Vital Records!!

Ok you all so this office is phenomenal. From the cleanliness to the amazing support by the front desk clerk (Ms. Kassa) and travel nurse (Ms. Claudina). They are cheaper than several different counties ( I know bc I checked ) and I just loved the environment from the moment I walked in. Granted it can be difficult to get someone on the phone on the first try but they reach back out to you almost immediately. I'm a happy customer. Nigeria here I come!

When i called they were very impatient and rudely put me on hold just to give me a automated message saying to call at a later time. The lady i called first just rudely put me on hold, it was very unprofessional and rude.

Went to the birth certificate office and was helped by JoKeisha Mobley. She was extremely helpful, speedy, and kind. Everyone in the office was kind and greeted you upon arrival. The wait was not bad when I went (2:30pm on Thursday). The office is Thursday is open until 7:00pm on Thursdays by the way.

Run Run Run
I went to the Refugee Clinic to get my Form I-693 - Medical Examination and Vaccination completed and it turned out to be a lengthy nightmare! This clinic is operated worse than a third world clinic.
First time I went, they did a blood test and they administered expired vaccines. After a few letters and calls to get a chest x-ray, I visited the clinic the second time. The third time, I went to pick up my hopefully completed Form I-693 - Medical Examination and Vaccination. The forth time I went to have them complete the the x-ray date on Form I-693, because the sealed gvt envelop was returned because it was missing the date.
Months later the nurse in charge is still sending me appointment letters to discuss results of tests.

If you have good insurance, go somewhere else!

I went to bring the birth certificate and they treated me super fast in 10 minutes I already had the game and Sonia is very friendly but the secury that is at the entrance is very rude but outside of that everything is excellent

I went to get the birth certificate, I arrived at 2:20 and left at 2:25 there is a person who speaks Spanish and Mrs. Sonia was very very kind

I've been waiting for 4hrs to call number 36..horrible they know it's extra busy around school time. Should b more organized

poor service. during covid they want people to visit the clinic twice. they don't schedule appointments over the phone or online. 1st you have to visit in person to set up appointment for next visit and after a week or so visit again for the appointment. very inconvenient to kids and working parents. i don't see any need of visiting twice. they should have a way to schedule appointments by phone or online.

The Travel Clinic does the basic job of providing vaccinations and prescriptions. However, they have no technology but plenty of attitude. If you need a prescription they cannot send it to your doctor, you must come back days later to pick up a piece of paper because there is no actual doctor there (only a nurse). They will not file to any insurance, they do not know and cannot give you the ICD 10 and CPT codes that your insurance will ask for, or they will give you old outdated ICD 9 codes. What's worse they'll have an attitude about it when you ask If you decide to come here do your research well in advance on what vaccinations you will need for your destination and don't expect them to get it right on their own.

I went here to get a pregnancy test done...it was positive of course so they didn't charge me for the pregnancy test...my overall experience with them was good and they even helped me sign up for wic for the baby and assisted me with my medicaid and food stamps for pregnant women...I didn't spend all day there only like an hour and a half maybe and the employees were nice...and yea and they even set me up with my obgyn there that I would have during my pregnancy Dr. Dourron she was awesome

I had a wonderful experience today at the Travel clinic. Nurse Hattie took care of me, and she was kind, informative, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone was helpful and gracious, and even offered to submit something to my insurance that I wasn't sure they'd cover. This was by far the least costly option in the metro area to get the Yellow Fever vaccine and preventative malaria prescription.

On Monday June 4, 2018 I took a homeless young lady to the board of health due to her feet being very swollen.
The security guard told us "this entire building is for refugees not American citizens".
When I told her I am U.S. N. Retired she replied " so what".
Then she told us to go across the street where two females laughed at us when we told them what we needed.

I just called the Dekalb County Board of Health and asked to speak to a restaurant inspector for a few questions I had about food safety inspections at restaurants. They were very polite and transferred me to Andrea. She was extremely nice, very knowledgeable and very professional. She was patient and answered all my questions without rushing me. It was a very nice phone call. It made me feel good about restaurant inspectors in Dekalb County. I had called Dekalb County a couple of times before and had the same good experience.

But, several times I have called Fulton County restaurant inspectors. They were horrible rude people teh one or two times I actually could get a human being on the phone. I tried several times to complain to the head about their rude inspector and not having any way in the world to be able to complain about unsafe restaurants, and left multiple messages, but could never get anyone. I could not complain to anyone about restaurants or the very rude inspector I actually got on the phone one time. Good luck to anyone in Fulton Country trying to complain about problems with restaurants in Fulton (or even their own employees). I tried hard to complain about one restaurant that was breaking multiple regulations and was just a filthy unsafe place, but couldn't. I wonder how many people got sick at this disgusting restaurant. Shame on you Fulton County restaurant inspectors!

I will try to stick to Dekalb County restaurants as their inspectors are so much more responsive, I feel safer.

I don t really expect much from DeKalb County anymore.. poor ethics, horrible staffing.. everyone is always tired.. and nothing opens or closes on time.. they act like ke you re supposed to know that the hours on the website are not the actual hours.. And the security guard in the the clinic wears sunglasses inside so you don t see her sleeping and has an attitude when you wake her up to ask a question

No help at all.. I have no health insurance for because we have a company that shows you're a certain amount gross doesn't mean that's what you net.. if someone needs to have a biopsy done or is having problems you should get medical treatment regardless of where you live what you look like where you came from in the United States of America we should have health care for the citizens.

Dear Dekalb medical hospital management.
All the time whenever I go to building 445 win-win way I have a worst customer service I do not wish anybody to go there here is the reason that I m going to email this message . yesterday I went there to get The immunization shot and then the lady at the second floor front desk her name is Tina Spates , she had a bad attitude she s so rude and mean . I didn t say anything but I thought she probably have a bad day unfortunately she wasn t have bad day. that how she really is and then a left some documents will have to come back the next day still the same lady she really liked ruin my day. As soon as you walked in she s the first person you going to meet . And she going to ruin everybody day for no reason simply you just asked a question where is the immunization floor and it was downstairs that s how she need to answer. the question I just ask where is the place? And she answered me if I was here yesterday I should supposed to know that and then she will have a bad attitude really annoying me and makes me mad I ask her last name she doesn t want to give me I told her to call manager she said she called and she didn t literally she didn t call the manager after I have to go to another office to see the manager and the manager told me that she never got called from her she lying and she kept me wait for the manager almost 15 -20 minutes without calling her manager. Also she told me that I was looking for trouble, because I ask her last name. I can imagine how many people have been go through the situation this need to be addressed quickly.

I reach out to the Department for help because I have BLACK MOLD growing in my apartment on 8/27/2019 and I have not heard anything from them yet. I call up to the office 5 times and I was told that my case has not been assign to anyone and I was told to leave a message on Mr. Allen Gains voice mail. Still no call back !! I got Mr. Gains email CC Copy him alone with picture to the property showing the black mold. Still no reply or calls. I just called today 9/13/2019 to find out that my case still has not been assigned... Very poor service and why do we have agency that suppose to help you with issue and then you have worker who do give a dam!!! ....

I went to this place two different times. One day they are doing walk ins. The Next Day appointment only. The Receptionist DOESN'T greet you, it was.. "have a seat" ONLY to tell me after I sat there for 15 minutes, " Oh we don't take walk ins" Very unprofessional organization.
I went to ANOTHER location and recieved, not only better but faster service as well!!

Awful awful very rude staff ms.T. Carter acts like you owe her money personally this is a clinic for children and pregnant women its suppose to be a place for help not a place that just wants your money please if you can avoid this location.

Decent prices but they want your money. I had my x-ray sent from my dentist. They told me the image was unusable so they could charge me an extra $61 to x-ray my one tooth themselves. Then, they didn't want to pull the tooth as I had asked, they wanted me to pay $1400 for root canal/ crown. Left with the same problems I came with minus $61. Nurse was rude also.

There is no reason why people, especially with small children and babies should have to wait HOURS UPON HOURS UPON HOURS to handle their business. It's back to school season, is the entire county of Dekalb NOT aware that there will be an influx of people coming in for services?? Why is there only 1 person working the counter?? I've been sitting and waiting for 3.5 hours and counting simply to transfer records to a GA from as I am from out of state. There is no respect at all for people's time here. Dekalb county should be ashamed of the way they do business...this is assanign. Nothing good to say about this experience.

Today someone vomited all over the floor. The therapists here are a joke. They don t want to see patients. The staff makes up the rules as they go. If there are other resources for you to make for your health. Go there. This place does not care about its patients. The wait today is over an hour.

This place is terrible. They charged $61 to X-ray one tooth. The dentist Dr.Carter diagnosed me with some type of infection and said I needed the tooth pulled but they wanted $150 for that. I didn t have it. I asked the doctor to please give me a pain Rx but he refused. Actually he told the nurse to tell me he refused. No level of care for the patient at all. The machines are outdated and I m sure not sterile. There has to be better places out there for uninsured people.

I been calling for hours nobody picks up so unprofessional

I never meet this lady but as soon as I went to the back she had a attitude and was so rude like if u ever get her she has her name tag turned around but she short fat with short curly hair and she wear glasses

The travel clinic is terribly slow, unproffesional, and inefficient. 5 weeks after my initial consultation they still have not administered a single vaccine. They single thread everything, do not return calls, and seen to be making up processed as they go. It is a wonder they are allowed to practice heathcare.h

I highly recommend you go anywhere else.
