6 year residents and Love It. Friendly residents, meals like a 5 star restaurant, a wide range of activities and modern up-to-date facilities. It s like living in a scenic resort with walking trails, lake, putting green and the best views in DesMoines.

Great place to work! I work in the licensed areas (Assisted Living, Residential Care and Health Center), each day I observe our team of CNA's, R.N.'s and L.P.N.'s provide compassionate care to our residents at all levels.

Horrible care! Repetitively takes 15 to 40 minutes to answer emergency call for help. Does not change the patient s clothing daily. Poor administration. Rude employees. Many more examples of poor care. We are transferring our loved one due to very poor level of care.

I have been residing in the Health Center, which is the skilled nursing side of Deerfield. The nurses and care staff have been wonderful. They are always polite and care about my well being. When I first came to the Health Center, I was in a lot of pain and much work ahead of me to gain the strength I would need to go back home. I am happy to report that I am leaving here today, with more strength than I ever thought I would have again. Thank you to the rehab staff and thank you to all of the team members who made my stay here a positive and memorable experience.

If I could give this facility a zero rating I would!
I was my mother s medical POA and they repeatedly ignored my medical advise as a registered nurse. I had two siblings who barely have a high school education. They got an attorney to make them a medical POA and a financial POA and have my mother sign the paperwork with dementia. Deerfield listened to their advice to not have a 24 hour sitter for my mother because it would decrease their inheritance by 30K a month. So they talked privately with management at Deerfield because they were local to NOT put a sitter in place, due to money. Seven falls later on to a cement floor in their RCF care area, my sisters inheritance dreams came true. She died of pneumonia from a T-3 fracture to her vertebrae. The sisters who were medical and financial POA s did not even want her to have pain medication. Malinda Shultice and James Robinson will be the two you will be referred to if you have problems at this facility but believe me they won t do a thing to help you! I posted this review on Yelp
and Deerfield had it removed. James Robinson reported the two local family members to the state of Iowa for abuse and continued to take their advice. My sibling and I have reported them to the state of Iowa for their negligence and the death of our mother and had no resolution or investigation. DONT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE AT THIS FACILITY!!!!!

I have been pleased with the care that the staff provides to my dad. After trying a few services around the Des Moines area, we feel Deerfield provides an excellent sense of community that cares for my father. Staff is very responsive with my inquiries and treats my wife and I with respect. Highly recommend!

I have close family friends living here. Beautiful facilities with a lovely homey feel. Friendly & helpful staff. With a private hospital & physical therapy facility attached I feel comfortable that my friends get the medical attention they may need quickly.

After getting out of the hospital from breaking news help my grandfather was told to go here by recommendation. This place is horrific. My My my grandfather has to be helped off the toilet when he went they left them on there for over a half an hour even with him pushing the button for help. Then I find out today that he fell and was laying there by the front door for almost 2 hours and nobody came to help. They are always understaffed their food is cold and disgusting for the people that live there. I I'm so angry beyond words can describe at the care my grandfather has received.

The Administrator at this facility was advised on multiple times that our mother needed assistance in the form of a sitter to keep her from falling. I finally had to have my attorney send a letter to Deerfield and demand that we be able to keep Mom safe with a full-time sitter (which we paid for). The Management and employees at this facility do not treat the patients or their families with the respect that they deserve.

I have asked the state of Iowa to investigate this facility for the abuses that they have committed. If anyone reading this review cares anything about their loved ones, please do not allow them to stay in Assisted Living and/or "RCF" (Residential Care Facility)! The art work and facility are beautiful, however the care and concern for their residents is horrendous! Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and find a better facility before handing over $5,000 to $8,000 per month for inadequate and unsafe care. We visited Mom frequently and would press her call button for assistance, and wait, and wait, and wait.... We could be waiting up to 40 minutes! They never answered a call button in a timely fashion, ever. Mom fell multiple times in this facilities "care".

We witnessed aids bring in meal trays for our frail mother with food she would be unable to eat because she was too weak to cut up the food on the tray. The cost to my Mom ended up being over $30,000/month to stay in RCF after we personally had to hire a sitter to keep her safe. But the ultimate cost was her life. Mom was not treated well in her final month in this "Life Space Community". If I had it to do it over again, I would have taken Mom home with me and hired someone to take care of her 24 hours a day while I worked. Because I travel for a living, this was not a feasible alternative for Mom. I will regret our family's decision to place her in Deerfield for the rest of my life.

If you love your parents or loved ones, DO NOT LET THEM LIVE AT DEERFIELD!
