PROVIDER DIRECTORY leaves a lot to be desired. I had to call in for a dentist that was Covered by policy in my area. Now the same thing for a chiropractor. NONE listed in the Directory. What a waste of paper, 300 pages of non information.

I had Dean health care for years, and have also had the misfortune of having other health plans. I never saw a bill, never had to worry about coverage. Other health plans I have to call just about every time or I receive a big bill.
Dealing with customer service at Dean is so easy compared to other companies. I call and get the answers I need the first time, every time. Love the plans and the great pricing. When comparing plans value, I always stick with Dean.
This has to be the biggest scam of a Healthcare plan I've ever seen? Charged 6 pharmacy fees after I had paid all out of pocket. You will pay copays for office visits out pocket and also again during billing?
There are some great doctors, but also some terrible ones. When filing a compliant, "investigations" are done by internal doctors so you basically have a colleague investigating another colleague so good luck with that.
Also, the referral requirement is outdated. For instance, if you want to see a mental health counselor, you need a referral from a physician. That's like having a problem with your car but needing a referral from your boat mechanic.
I got a surprise medical bill! I went in to get my PCP to look at a suspicious lesion on my cheek, which she ended up confirming my suspicions as precancerous. I was expecting a referral to a specialist, not to have a procedure that afternoon. She said we could freeze it off right in the office, and there I am thinking, oh great, that's going to be super fast and cheap, because naive me is there thinking what could a spritz of liquid nitrogen to the face cost?
Well, this is America, the only 1st world nation where profiting off of illness is a legal enterprise. $300. It cost $300, and Dean only covered half. I've been handing them money for 3 years now and this is what I get back from them. Dean, we are having words tomorrow, but here's a preview of how this conversation will go: If you can't negotiate lower than a $300 bill for a literal spritz of nitrogen to the face, what is the point of your existence? In ANY other industry, this is the definition of fraud. Try growing a spine.
I am a new member of DeanHealth Plan in Wisconsin and I used SSM Health as my clinic. Due to my first visit and interaction with DeanHealth I'll surely be choosing another provider when my open enrollment starts. My clinic billed DeanHealth for service I never had done. when I let SSM Health know they told me to contact DeanHealth who in return told me to contact SSM Health to do a re-coding. In the end they ask me to call back in 30 days to correct the wrong billing. this is too much for a simple mistake made by both parties. One last thing the customer support that replies to these messages only gives their generic none helpful 1800 number. I'm over DeanHealth!
I hate this insurance company.... you call the customer care line to make sure the doctor you have an appointment with is in the "network" the person you talking to on the phone says yes but when you get the bill and find out in fact he's not first time I can understand. the second time shame on me but know I have let it happen three times now. now when I call it seem that the people that are suppose to be helping you are just talking at you and using industry terms that I don't understand because I am not an insurance agent. Then on top of that I get a doctor that I am not comfortable with and all se dose pretty much tells me that I am fat and need to go to a weight management specialist called its not covered maybe you should send out a list of what is covered it would be a lot shorter then what is not covered
I want to give a shout out to Dean Health Plan I chose them for my small business group health insurance and they have been nothing but helpful and responsive. Whether it is a phone call or something in writing they respond and I have gotten positive results on a very confusing complicated claim. Thank you for being one of the best decision I made!
I wanted to take a moment and share my experience I had with Sarah Hermsdorf. I have been going through some back issues as well as dealing with cancer, during this process Sarah was very sincere as well as very professional. She was very knowledgeable and took the time to really explain things to myself as well as my daughters for a clear understanding. She is a great doctor who takes the time to care about her patients and is very intelligent. Highly recommend her!
The Deancare website is terrible and confusing with unclear pieces of information spread out all over the place. The plan I had didn t cover anything like it was supposed to. Deceptive practices like this have lead me to have multiple expensive medical bills from a single covered wellness visit... at a Dean clinic... Get ready to dip into savings because Dean doesn t have you covered.
