I went to the Damien Center and spoke with Anne. First, she spoke in a very demeaning tone the whole time. She told me that they couldn't help me, but the Bellflower Clinic can. She said that they were swamped today and don't recommend going. She said I would wait for hours and still may not be able to be seen. It was only 1pm at this time and they didn't close until 6:10pm, so that didn't make sense to me. Anne also told me that 3 weeks post-possible-exposure is not enough time, even for the RNA HIV test. I've heard some people say that the test is effective 9-11 days post-possible-exposure, so that didn't make sense either.

I ignored Anne and glad I did! I went to the Bellflower Clinic and there was no wait at all! I grabbed a number from the check in and was called next. I was in and out of that clinic in record time. I also spoke to an actual doctor there and she said 3 weeks is definitely sufficient time for the RNA HIV test. I tested negative and my whole ordeal is over! Thank you, Anne, for nothing. If I would have listened to her, I would have been in anxiety for another week, took off another day of work, etc.

The Damien center is not a good place for me.... yes they give care coordination and pantry access to everyone in need but they pick and choose who the give the real help to like housing rental assistance and utility assistance.... they even give food vouchers to Walmart and Kroger to selected few meaning the people they're cool with and friends with.... They left me with bad credit putting me on housing program and kicking me off in the middle of a lease saying I was on the program too long but the guy next to me they kept him on the program and he was on the program a lot longer than me.... I'm tired I'm tired

I originally contacted this place in 2016. Every so often I give this place another try. After multiple attempts of reaching out for help. I have not received any that they so enthusiastically offer. I recommend going to Step Up or Aspire Indiana.

I only like it because it was free. I didn't find the people terribly comforting, in general. I'm sure they are underpaid and overworked so I give them a pass. I got tested for STDs and wasn't offered any paperwork to prove my status. I didn't think about that until I was long gone. Rather disappointed that I didn't get it.

The Damien Center is a social services agency that services a unique part of the community. The staff is friendly and you are always greeted politely at the door. The services that the Damien Center offer are comparable to no other organization like it in Indianapolis.

A+ for service
A+ for attitude
A+ for what they do for the community. Excellent place to refer people who are eligible to become clients. Call them and they can tell you anything you want to know.

My place for my HIV CARE it's feels great to be greeted by the receptionist at the desk with such a Lovely Smile and Spirit, rest of my coordinates are okay. They ALWAYS seem to have a turnover in staff often, I DON'T LIKE THAT.

Frankly, I've been overall displeased with my experience here, which is unfortunate because I need the care they provide. E.g., their psychiatric nurse practitioner was texting during our appointment, and she reprimanded me for a couple life decisions I've made, only to follow up shortly by reminding me that she's not my therapist. The appointment lasted only 15 minutes---at which point she abruptly cut it short, owing to a "meeting" she had to attend. Seek psychiatric care somewhere else, where your time and money will be respected.

Staff are remarkable, serving and helping, meeting my needs. Sadly lacks socialization activities not public ly posted. All my concerns received respectful attention and my needs are received with due consideration. I have issues yet to share but in no way diminish the quality of care and help I have received over many years I have been it's client consumer. I am proud of the ever on going development of the Damien Center so evident in it's expending programming, treatment ., modalities. And services.
