Great location with plenty to do. Daycare is by far the best I've ever seen. Great place.
Great location with plenty to do. Daycare is by far the best I've ever seen. Great place.
Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful gym with amazing amenities and new equipment. Great staff :-)
Newly renovated after Hurricane Harvey this is a gigantic YMCA with great group exercise classes, cardio and weight lifting areas and helpful staff.
Love the variety. We need more room in the yoga room and more yoga classes. Some virtual yoga would be nice.
There is no lake here anymore. Shrubs and plants took over.
Took a tour of the place a and while it was nice it's too expensive I would say. Online the price for a family was 58 but when I went in for a tour they told me that it was only for 2 months and from there the price would increase to 103. Looked nice but not sure if I would spend that much especially since they close early.
This is one of the cleanest, nicest gyms (?) I've ever been in. We joined in October, it's now February. Each visit I've stepped into a clean, refreshing building. The ladies and universal dressing rooms are immaculate each visit. Circuit and weight room equipment is kept clean and organised as is the indoor pool area. Staff are visible, willing to assist as needed or requested.
I've been very impressed with the number of visible staff during each visit. My husband is impressed with the quality and quantity of circuit room equipment. I visit the indoor pool often. I watch the lifeguards rotate through the stations. They appear to enjoy their jobs while watching the many seniors using the pool. There is a system in place to test children and teens to insure they can swim before getting into the pool. I've also seen them test the water quality in the pool and spa throughout the day.
Having had memberships at various health clubs over the years I believe I'm getting a huge value at McWilliams YMCA. Although I haven't participated I know many classes are offered in cycling, yoga, water aerobics and many other interests all included in my monthly fee.
Our coach was so amazing! The fields are well maintained and the ref did a great job! I also just love the atmosphere- it s so fun and supportive! I love how the parents clap and cheer on the kids on the other team as well as their own child s team!
I really like the McWilliams YMCA. I joined almost 2 months ago and have already recommended to people I know. This is such a clean facility with well maintained equipment; there are great teachers for excellent group classes and lots of wonderful staff to assist. The overall environment is awesome for the individual and family. My daughter loves the outdoor pool and I feel safe that she is able to come and have a place for her to do activities while I am working out.
The tiny tots soccer and basketball have been awesome for our kids. We can't wait for the spring season and to try other sports too. It is a fun way to expose kiddos to sports. The coaches and wonderful.
Very attentive staff, and very quiet, very nice atmosphere!
They will refuse to cancel your membership and conti use to charge you. Every single person you talk to will have a different "policy" they will tell you they are going to refund you and ask you to fill out a form and then deny the refund and just extend your membership end date again. Do not get a membership at this facility if you ever intend on cancelling.
Terrible gym. The equipment is alright but the hours are absolutely terrible. They open later than most gyms and close extremely early as well. Would recommend most gyms over the Y.
The newly renovated Y at Cypress Creek is a true gem. The contemporary design of the facility as well as the lovely landscaping is awesome; it is truly a state of the art facility catering to all ages.
They have great programs for keeping seniors active and offer a variety of schedule times for the classes.
I really enjoy this location near Willowbrook Mall. It has several workout machines. Has a an indoor pool. It has a gym with four basketball goals. The staff does not micromanage you even when you have kids they're working out with you. They just want to make sure that they're safe and supervised. It's a really nice atmosphere and I like the prayer wall as well where you can leave a prayer there.
Massive modern clean gym . Dry sauna . Whirlpool . No towel service
Not the same Y it used to be. Open changing rooms, where anyone can walk in on you. No separation from cardio room and weight room. Just odd. Biggest complaint is no sauna or steam room.now we just cancelled our membership on time, and they charged us last month when we wanted to cancel, and now AGAIN. Biggest scam ever! Save your money!
Miss. Sarah was awesome! She help me get all set up with my membership. She answer all of mine and my Dad's questions. She has even answer my questions after I started going. I love swimming my laps. The lifeguards are great at answering your questions too. The staff are great. I love coming to McWilliams YMCA.
We love, love, love the YMCA. We have been members for years. It is so much more than a gym. It is also a vibrant part of our community, with special help for the elderly and the disadvantaged. Unlike most gyms, they do not attack you with high-pressure sales pitch, and they even treat their staff well. Our beloved Y is now on hard times, due to being flooded by Harvey. At this time, we have a mini YMCA (a smaller building with workout equipment, child care and 3 classrooms) and an outdoor pool. We can't wait until our full facility comes back sometime in the fall.
Great YMCA. Lots of things to do & participate in. Great people work there!
Sports were disorganized. If a parent didn't volunteer then there was no instruction on what to do for any sport. If a parent did volunteer, they were left to their own devices with little to no instruction. We will not return.
The YMCA is a very good facility to workout at. The facility is clean, equipped with cameras, security guards, and other Professionals who strive to keep the facility a fun family filled environment. You have options to swim, hot tub, sauna, showers, workout group classes, weights, equipment, and much more. The gym membership is reasonable. There might be a gym membership discount available to you, by your employer, or by your income level. Don't hesitate to speak with a front desk assistant or Manager that will provide you with accurate information. Caution: Bring a lock for the locker you utilize at the gym. If more instruction, or discipline, or motivation is needed on your workout journey, the Y does have trainers available for you. I didn't retain a gym trainer at the Y, but the front desk can assist you too, if you are searching for a gym trainer. Don't delay your health results! Get to work at the YMCA and earn your exercise goals! (-alz )
The equipment at the YMCA are great, and my family enjoys all the programs and activities too.
If only the women center is not closed at 8pm, i would give a five star
UPDATE: The nice folks responded immediately after I sent them a friendly email about the situation. while they can t change the swim test requirement (it s a national YMCA rule) they did offer to set us up with help from their swimming instructor in order to help my son with his swimming skills. They were prompt and courteous and I can tell they want to figure this out.
What a nice family pool! Sadly we were unable to fully enjoy it. I would like to suggest that the YMCA rethink their super strict swim test policy and to accommodate children with special needs. My son is 7 and is on the autism spectrum. He loves swimming and slides and I thought this would be a great place to take him on a hot summer afternoon. This YMCA has two gentle looking taller slides and a kiddy splash pad with a small slide. In order to be allowed to use the taller slides you have to swim about 20 feet in the deep end and then float on your stomach and back for Five seconds each. We gave it a shot and my son was able to doggie paddle the 20 feet but didn t quite understand the command to float. So he failed. Was given a red tape wristband and we were told he could not use the slides. So we proceeded to the kiddy area to try to use the smaller slide. But were informed my son was too tall to use that slide. His heart was broken and he just didn t understand. I asked the lifeguards if there was anything we could do? As the slide dump out area is only 3feet 8 inches a depth that my son can easily just stand up in, no back floating or paddling needed. Plus there is life guard stationed there at all times. No we re we re told... no slide for you. Needless to say this was an unpleasant swimming experience and my son cried the entire time we were there. Won t be coming back for a long time... I guess until we can meet those overly strict requirements.
If your child visits the YMCA D. Bradley McWilliams @ HWY 249 & Cypressword. BE CONCERNED!!! Ask your child about their experience every time you pick them up. Ask them if they feel safe? Ask them WHO makes them feel unsafe? And if your child doesn't talk, and something happens that just doesn't feel right, ask to see their footage. QUESTION EVERYTHING!!!
Everyone at my Y is super dedicated. From the front desk...to the cleaning staff!
Very clean and the staff looks like they really enjoy being around to help you with any questions.
Nothing here but two cardio rooms, a pool, and a daycare
I've had a great experience with their child watch with my baby. The classes are fantastic, especially pilates. The cardio room is top notch. Plenty of great state of the art machines.
I am ready to give up our family membership. This simmer has been awful as far as the staffing of the outdoor pool. Today We arrived at 12:30 have to wait until 12:50 to do swim test, while they are running slides....and my son and his friend can't do them....they both pass swim test then they close slides until 2. Not enough lifeguards. Now there's one over the deep end where no one is swimming and 4 in the lifeguard "room"..... And this is the norm, not the exception. Really?!?
Love the classes, the instructors and the facility!
Professional staff, clean and offers a host of classes for various age groups; overall an excellent family friendly Christian environment.
It's a great place to go work out, but I don't like that they do not provide towels for the public .
The new fitness areas and bathrooms are great. However, it is new but not improved. No sauna or private womens only whirl pool. No womens gym, no snack areas just vending machines. The virtual reality exercise is literally a large projected video in a dark room with good sound. There are barely any classes for kids. Just seasonal sport camps that meet off site and tae kwon do. Mostly I am bothered by the kids area. Part of the reason I chose ymca was because of all the awsome kids stuff. Wow the website made it look great! The poster next to the room says virtual reality as their number one activity. And they don't have it "yet". No clue on when it's coming. The otherstuff is basically kids using tablets and legos. Not impressed. And a guy there "andrew" as well as a few others were totally uninformed, cocky and just plain rude. When I ask people normal questions about my new memebership I get alot of cold dumb stares. Management needs to train and hire decent staff in the kids area.
I just recently signed up here during the week that they were waiving the join fee and I am so glad I did so. The facility is so nice, clean and the amount of equipment, classes and activities they have is unreal. I know it has been recently renovated in the last year or two, and it definitely shows. Big thumbs up to this location!
My son attends Camp Run-A-Muck that is ran through the D. Bradley YMCA. He really enjoys his time spent there and the staff. They have 3 days of swim, 1 field trip day and "Fun Friday's" every week (7/8 yr olds) so they are keeping busy and having tons of fun! The garden that the kids and staff built and maintain is very pretty. The staff is very organized with pick ups/drop offs and will make sure your child is safe.
My only complaint is that it is so expensive! $195/week for one child and no family discounts seems pretty steep, but for my son's happiness it is worth it to us. Not sure that we will go back next year as my daughter will be old enough and paying nearly $400/week seems nearly impossible.
I have been a member for over 10 years. Great place!!! $
after I cancelled over a year ago they started to charge my credit card again. Now they do not want to give me my money back. This place has no customer service
They are so amazing!!! I lost a very precious ring that ment a lot to me and I was found:)
Horrible place. Horrible Pool director, horrible Lifeguard classes them guys are losers and Waste 4 days of my life and $380.00. Stay away from this place if you are looking to be a lifeguard. I would rather go to a lifeguard class with a pit full of sharks in the jungle this place and the pool director and Lifeguard teachers are Very unprofessional
Clean...great staff... very chill atmosphere. Love it.
Their child watch is a joke! They had some mentally retarded person in charge of the kids who started grabbing my 3 year old sons shoes off his feet. My sons foot was literally in the air and he was crying and screaming as this person (who was clearly not qualified to watch kids) was yanking and pulling his at his shoes and feet. I reported this incident to the manager who said they were not licensed individuals who watched the kids and you leave them at your own risk!!!!! Does that make you feel safe leaving your kids there? They clearly do no thave any sense of responsibility in caring for your children. Other than that horrible event, the facilities are smelly, dirty, and outdated and the staff is unhelpful.
The Y at 249 and Cypresswood (Bradley McWilliams) is great!
i love the ymca i have been a member for17 yrs love it here.
the people who answer the phone are EXTREMELY RUDE. I called with a couple questions and got nothing but nasty nasty attitude. I almost don t even want to bring me child for swim lessons and they are FREE. glad this isn t my local YMCA, that s for sure.
I recently got a citywide pass, and started exploring the water aerobics classes for jumpstarting weightloss with weakened knees. They are frequent and phenomenal. You think senior citizens, but I feel great and burnt 1,245 calories in 2 hours according to my phone app. Even if thats not entirely accurate, its entirely MOTIVATIONAL. Did I mention I feel great...no pain.
Also, its the 3rd largest facility in the country. Its a bit tight on parking, but there so many perks...friendly staff, immaculate, spacious locker rooms, sauna, whirlpool, classes of all types, indoor track and several cardio rooms. Plenty of staff, too.
The front end staff is really rude and awkward. I mean I'm sorry but acting like I'm not a paying member and trying to act like I'm getting in for free because I didn't realize my card didn't scan. Isn't a good look. I will be changing to a different gym. The rest of the staff is okay.
To add to that my car got broken into. Like i don t understand how you guys don t have security.
Nice and friendly staff. Clean and well kept facilities!
My family and I enjoy the fun activities in McWilliams YMCA s safe, clean and friendly environment. My children participate in activities and the daycare center staff take care off our youngest while we work out or attend a game. We re very pleased with the services you offer and the amazing members of this community.
The programs and activities at McWilliams YMCA are designed for families and individuals. The group exercises afford multiple time slots that whatever your schedule, there will be a time slot to your convenience. Coupled with a friendly and conscientious professional staff that are mindful of your exercise wellbeing, and a clean, spacious and up-to-date facility, you will be absolutely right in choosing McWilliams YMCA. That is why I recommend them.
This place is such a life-saver for me. I park my kids in the childcare center for 2 hours almost every morning, and take some much needed time to myself. The childcare center staff is amazing with my kids, and they love coming here. Everyone here is so welcoming and friendly, and not just the employees. There is a strong sense of community here, and I love it. It's the best part of my day. I especially look forward to my Zumba classes. Lorelle, Mackenzie and Beth are amazing! Highly recommend.
Great place to spend quality time with the family and get also get a good workout.
I came to use a guest pass after the remodel and I was excited to try a Zumba class at 9 months pregnant, well one of your ignorant staff members rudely asked if I was pregnant with twins, I won t be getting a membership here ever after that
I love this YMCA. Perfectly clean, excellent and wide range of equipment and programs. Can't beat the staff either. The indoor, heated pool is my favorite. Come check it out.
Love the classes and the instructors, Shirley L, Lori, Lisa, Kristie, Lucy, Stacy, I 've never had a bad instructor. The other staff members are usually very friendly and helpful. Plus the amazing facility with so many equipment options! I love how it feels so comfortable and never intimidating.
I love the Y; the child care and kids activities are great. I just wish there were more activities geared toward adults beyond group exercise classes. I would like more sports, social activities, and personal enrichment classes and events that are at a convenient time for working adults, especially during the hours after work and weekend but when childcare is open.
I have so enjoyed my new exercise program I ve started over a month ago at the Y...designed to fit my needs and wants ...ALL employees and trainers are very knowledgeable ..caring and compassionate and willing to stop and assist with any question or showing me how to properly use the equipment ..I tell all my friends to come try this out ... if not totally Free through ur insurance they help u find an affordable program to fit ur needs ...
This is by far my favorite YMCA. There is a closer Y to my house but my daughter is terrify of the child watch there. So I normally just drive to this Y where my daughters all enjoy the child watch while I exercise my mind and body. It has virtual classes too. The staffs are friendly. Location is clean. Staff go around cleaning equipments regularly. I would highly recommend signing up for the Y for single adults and adults with child(ren).
Beautiful facility! Everything imaginable offered. Staff helpful and professional.
These guys have done a really excellent job with the way they enforced a safe and very clean environment since re-opening compared to probably other gyms in the area. It's an even BETTER environment than it was before Covid-19! It's never too crowded, even in peak hours, and everyone stays socially distanced, with masks required when using weights/strength training equipment. Definitely recommend working out here.
best YMCA in houston... also best gym in this area.
you can choose many variety aerobic class, and there are cardio room, weight room, basket ball hall, swimming pool, yoga mind and body room, and special women workout.
Love my YMCA!! Staff is always courteous and helpful and my kids and I love the programs and amenities! :)
I love to loose waight last night was my first time and i live it specially that cardio rooom
Disorganized location - the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Called to sign up my daughter for a week of summer camp. The lady at front desk said there were still spots available. After an hour of going through registration process online it came to a page where it said: waiting list. Calling back, asking about the available spots the lady (Shannon) said she talked to a Program director (Donny) and that we can come Monday no problem and pay at the front desk. This morning (Monday), showing up with my daughter at the front desk - they can't find us in the system, 2 girls at the front desk are incompetent, basically told us "there are bunch of people on the wait list, we can't do anything". My 7 years old is standing there, her eyes full of tears. Why did you make us come here if you knew you wouldn't let us in?
Thank God, there are better YMCA's in the area, called the Woodlands YMCA, they've found us in the system right away and were able to enroll besides the fact they were full as well.
Wonderful staff, wonderful facility. I'm extremely happy with this location. Thank you for all you do...
Great workout environment...perfect for people just starting bodybuilding ornpeople who are well established bodybuilders. Staff constantly clean equipment, maintain the gym, and are more than willing to provide help to anyone requiring it.
Loved this location and all it's amenities.and classes for many, many years.......was a member for over 6 years until we finally had to quit this year. We simply aren't going enough to justify the $95 a month family membership. When we started we paid less than $75 a month years ago......but it has steadily increased annually, no longer making this a good value unless your whole family goes DAILY most days of the week. The class line up had gotten a little stale so we really stopped going, thus, we were paying each month for very little. Bummer.
It's great place but the lifeguards are horrible!! Both inside and outside. There have been multiple times when I have been in the pool in an area that I shouldn't. I am asked to move out the area and I completely understand I'm in the wrong and do get out. Of course someone of another race comes in and does exactly what I did and they are allowed to do so . I always wait some time to see if they are going to tell them something and they never do unless I walk over and tell them. It's horrible to think that this has something to do with my race.
Love this YMCA I personally think it's the best one in Houston. I've been to 5 other Y's only complaint is the kids area. My 7 and 8 year old think it's boring and unfortunately I agree they have the tube slide playground but for some reason they always have chairs blocking the slide and they can't use it, feels l like a waste of money to have the kids on my membership.
Visit here today. Nice gym, nice weight room, nice pool. I'll be back!
I basically was raised in this place as both of my guardians were there constantly. And I've never had an issue granted we never had a membership but then it was free for the reff. But it's a great place for kids I learned to swim there. Amongst many other things. Wish I still lived out that way so I could continue to go.
Clean facility, good equipment in new condition, lots of classes to chose from, nice staff etc... I have been a member for quite some time and appreciation this facility. The only thing I would say needs some investment is the pre teen section. It would make a big difference in me being able to workout at different times & attend certain classes too.
It seems nice enough. But parking is a joke, and I was informed I cannot take video of my own kids during swimming lessons to show to their dad and grandparents. So that's a bummer. It's not as easy to describe via charades over the 900 mile distance how the kids are improving.
First, as an adult it was a awesome facility and experience. Second, the people working and clientele were lovely, but if you have children who need to come to the Child Watch especially in the evening please be very vigilant about asking them specific questions about their experience and treatment everytime they visit, mostly when the younger staff is mostly present and especially if Matthew G, Rachel, Vallerie are present. My daughter is autistic, epileptic and has a genetic disorder and was targeted and bullied. I found out about it after it had gotten out of hand and mostly while in her therapy. Wrote letter and reported it to Cody Meredith and a his director Ms. Stephens. I am writing this because my daughter also mentioned 4 other children and situations that were not okay and as a parent I would want to know about. And Cody and Ms.Stephens expected my daughter to remember dates and times she is 9. Please talk to your children and report anything that is unacceptable. They are not licensed by the state or overseen by anyone the only people to speak for your child is you and make sure it is corrected is you as a parent. Please talk to your children, even if it's always positive. Because it just takes that one negative experience to totally destroy a childs self esteem confidence and security.
Staff, instructors & people are great! Love the Christian atmosphere & all the classes!
I am 81 years old and have been a member of this Y for almost 8 years; the heated indoor pool with the water exercise program is the only reason I joined, However every Fall there has been a problem with the Y waiting until the water gets to the freezing point and people are complaining before turning on the heat for the Winter, This Fall is no exception, They told me when I joined that the pool was maintained at 82 degrees summer and winter Tonight it was advertised on the chalk board outside the pool that that the water temperature was 79 degrees, but it was really so cold when I got in it that I turned around and went home before my class started. A complete waste of my time and gas to get there from home.
