UNSAFE SERVCING! On the face of it it seems so promising;' hip,' friendly and helpful. But I took my bike for a service and on it's return I noticed the gears kept jumping. Thinking I would take it back to check the problem when I had a day off I cycled again the next day, and imagine my surprise when the chain dropped off on to the road as I was riding home. It hadn't been properly reassembled. Fortunately I was moving slowly at the time or else the sudden loss of momentum may have thrown me head first on to the road, and who knows what the outcome may have been then?
They did fix it for free however, and the refund they offered me for the clearly incompetent servicing was welcome....no, hang on a minute they didn't offer me anything did they? Just a fixed chain and a reluctant 'sorry'
The juice may be nice and the bikes are great, but if you want a reliable service go somewhere else.

did a good job on my bike but relatively unfriendly and sneering service. I spotted a problem that was there before I brought it in and wasn't fixed initially. when brought back one of the house techs got very defensive, I ended up needing to go to another shop to get it fixed.

maybe they should just stick to coffee, crepes and overpriced bike parts.

Been going to CycleLab & Juice bar for around a year now. Been given great service and advice with regards to my bike. New stem, wheels and full service, had no issues. Have recommended this store to so many of my friends and work colleagues. Also the smoothie "The Nutty One" is a great recovery shake!

Pretty cold service which is surprising with so much competition on their doorstep. Did a fine job servicing my bike but would probably venture to one of the other 100s of bikes shops locally next time. Shame as the business model, look and location of the store is spot on. Owners, please can you just tell your staff to be more friendly? Or maybe they were the owners!!

Went in knowing how lovely the bar staff always are (and also a big fan of those amazingly delicious smoothies!) but was appalled by the mechanic's attitude and how rude his responses were. I should have listened to some of the reviews below! He might be fantastic at his job, I don't know, but he sure needs to improve his people skills. Completely put off to go again ever again...

Btw, went to Isambard's Cycles instead which is down the road and got the problem fixed within half an hour with no hassle by a super helpful and polite mechanic. CycleLab & JuiceBar, sort out your staff :)

I've been in here multiple times because I work near by and the guys who work in the bike shop have been rude every time. Everything is also over priced but what can you expect from a bike shop/ juice bar haha

I stopped there as I needed an urgent work on my bike (change rear cassette and chain). I dropped the bike on the spot and the next day it was all perfectly done, with a smile. Very good service and super nice (thanks to Yannick, the mechanics). I haven't tried the juices etc.. but I'll definitely go back.

bad attitude. went in asking to pay for a puncture to be fixed- happy to spend the money as my efforts hadn't worked. met with a roll of eyes and a look like i was wasting their time. i've never had that elsewhere when i needed help. i live on the same road but i haven't gone back.

Actually cheap at the price I think. Amazing hearty dishes (sold as salads but are more like a main with plenty if carbs and protien), stews, soups and coffee. Great service. Paradise really!

Location is great for people going to the City from Hackney and the owner also souneded nice. However I changed my mind after I realised I had to bring back my bike three times (in one day) to sort out a puncture for the same reason! The commute was barely four miles.
The shop was abusing my ingeneousness and yours to I guess by playing the meccano old trick: spot a problem and only fix half way so you can make some extra quids when the sucker is back.
The worse thing was the bad faith of the owner (seemed like a nice Hungarian guy to me at first) saying "or it is so frequent to have punctures in London". Nor that untrue however never that many before or after I tried this shop. Eventually, at the thrid intent, they checked my tyre to eventually remove the piece of glass which was causing all the punctures. Hopeless!!!
Since then, I did not go back and I even have my puncture kit with me...

I was really surprised at the bad reviews for this place. I'm relatively new to cycling, only been doing it the last two years. One of the big factors that's has helped me get into it is this shop. The guys are really friendly and offer incredible value on the products and services when compared to the bigger high street chains.

If I've had smaller problems with my bike, they've often fixed them free of charge. When my saddle was stolen they even gave me a complimentary coffee to cheer me up. Cycling can be really elitist, but these guys have made it really easy to get involved with. Also the smoothies are incredible. Great place.

I had to stop by here when my rear derailleur cable snapped on the way into work and needed a quick repair (the prospect of cycling home up the hill to Ally Pally in top gear didn't appeal to my ageing knees). Got a warm welcome from the mechanic and he had the bike straight on the stand. By the time I'd grabbed a cup of their excellent coffee a new cable had been fitted, despite the tricky internal cable routing on my bike. A bit of adjustment later and I was on my way. Even offered to readjust cable once bedded in if I was passing. Fast service, good prices, great coffee and nice people. Definitely recommended.

Had a good experience when my inner tube went and I desperately needed a replacement. Staff were friendly even though the shop had technically closed about half an hour previously were happy to get me a replacement inner tube and lend me a pump and tools.

The place appears to be a focal point of grizzled cycle couriers who know central london so well they'd probably pass "the knowledge" blindfolded with earplugs on and those guys as well were seriously helpful to a total n00b like myself and I was on my way with a new inner tube quite soon! Would go back again.

Just plain rude. Their website talks about how there's no elitism and how they aim to offer a friendly service. In my experience this couldn't be further from the truth.

Both times I have attempted to deal with them I've left feeling as if my business wasn't worth their effort. I won't be giving them a third chance.

When you're in the service and retail business you should really learn to appreciate your customers. Can't see these boys lasting very long!

Great place that s open nice and early for the pre work coffee or smoothie. The matcha latte was deliciously made with Oat Milk I think, and tasted incredible. Also got a detox smoothie that was perfect to feel a little bit more energetic. Highly recommended

Dreadful place! Took my trike in (gearbox was stuck), the guy said he'd call me later that day- he didn't, neither did he call me the next day, or ever. 10 days later, he stopped answering the phone all together, I'd live 12 messages sometimes. eventually my partner paid a courier to go other to put the guy on a loudspeaker. Two weeks later, I was finally told the bike was ready. After I collected it, I noticed that the break handle was moved further so I could only reach it with two fingers and the new gear box was overlapping with the ladle so I could only hold on to the 2/3 of it.

I have been in here a couple of times and have had excellent service each time. Quality: second to none, at least in my experience. Knowledgeable and skilled and go the extra mile. e.g. they fitted a new bottom bracket on my race bike, but rather than just slipping it in and charging full whack, they properly faced and tapped the frame, fitted it and recalibrated the whole drivetrain, cleaned the bike until it was gleaming and charged less than buying the part at a chain store. Needless to say, the bike rode better than new. Yep, I'll be going back.

Thank you so much for having the patience to wade through a box of components to find the headset bearing that I needed for my bike and make sure I knew how to fit it. Awesome service you won't get from a website. Won't hesitate to call in again.

I came here thinking this was going to be half shop / half juice bar it's not. Walking into a cycling shop as a non-cyclist, I felt pretty out of place and the staff confirmed the fact that I didn't belong by ignoring me whilst they served customers cycling jackets and cleaned bikes. The juices are a decent size for the price and when I did get served the staff seemed nice enough, but this isn't somewhere you'd come to sit with a juice and relax!

This guy is very rude, he fixed my tire's puncture and i just walked 500 meters and it again got punctured. He behaved very rudely and returned my money back when I went back to his shop. I requested him that where will I go it's 6 pm, please fix it, but he was mercy-less. I would never recommend any one to go to his shop.

Good range of products and bikes for a small space, however I can only be honest when I say that the staff were terribly uncooperative - I did not feel welcome at all - even upon asking a question or two to the mechanics. In an area of London so densely filled with cycle shops, surely staff attitude/friendliness should be of paramount importance.

I also did not like the way the mechanic was manhandling someone's Felt Road Bike. Overall, a mediocre experience.

Went in with a buckled wheel after an accident, and was advised to get it rebuilt, which I ended up doing. When I stopped by to pick it up, they had laced it to a new rim that was a different colour to what I had brought in! Ended up taking it due to the lead time for the right colour rim. No apology from the member of staff who served me, and general surly attitude throughout the entire experience means I won't go back there in a hurry.

Popped in early morning to fix a flat tire. Repairman did it fairly quick even though there was a queue ahead of me. He also managed to dissemble my tire even though I had forgotten my security key. Such a doer! And reasonable price, was expecting more to be honest. Highly recommend!

Absolute Shyt!

Absolute Shyt!

I went there with problems with my brakes and a snapped gear cable. They only fixed the cable and charged me 13 quid for it. I noticed my breaks still didn't work on my way home and went back to them the next week to complain about it. They then charged me again a ridicules 20 pound service charge for brake service despite me reminding them that's what I brought it in for the first time anyway. I had me receipts and everything. I asked if there was an alternative student price. The guy at the bar dark hair just gave me a look like I don't care.

so after taking 39 odd quid for my repairs the brakes still had issues. a friend of mine had a look at my bike 3 days later and sorted it out for me free of charge.. So 39 quid to replace 3 cables... absolute rip off and worst service in my life. I only went because its on my way to work

These guys really messed up my bike, took the bike in for a new back wheel and they didn't even check to make sure it was aligned properly, cycling home the back wheel locked up rendering it useless. shoddy work

Avoid this place at all costs. Rude, elitist mechanic who manages to make every exchange very painful. Attitudes aside, my last 3 visits to Cycle Lab have resulted in me being told to replace various parts only for me to go and get a second opinion down the road and be told that the parts in question all be in good working order. Incredibly unethical and there is no doubt in my mind that they take advantage of naive customers.

The inner tubes they installed on my bike (2 on different occasions) are crap. Literally. The ones with the transparent cap...they deflate within 4 or 5 days, whereas my original inner tube lasts for several weeks without losing air, almost imperceptible...plus the manners are not great as other users mentioned. I won't come back here. Thanks.

After dealing with the mechanics elitist attitude and some of the rudest service i've ever received in London, what should have been a quick fix was made worse and I had to pay for it. I will never return to this store and I will passionately dissuade any other cyclists to visit this place. If you need your bike fixed go visit one of the much friendlier mechanics nearby, because there's loads.

Great guys, great service.

Great guys, great service.

Do not listen who tried to paint them in a bad light . I know them before they open this shop, and I can tell the most qualified person to deal with your cycle. Those people who is satisfied with their service doesn't leave a comment here because they going back to the shop again. That's the reality. Just pop in the store and look around how thing goes there and make you own decision.

I'm one of his customer, just going to collect my bike tonight

Cyclelab is a great mixture of a very good cafe + a really good bike shop. I regularly start or end my ride there, the coffee + crepes are excellent. It is a nice place to be! They have a great workshop for repairs and the staff are very friendly.

After reading some of the other post im not surprised by the serviced i received, being new to the city i was looking for a new bike shop and i bike almost every day. the staff where unfriendly impatient, and rude. honestly i will never spend my money here ever again even though their juice bar is great! Their mechanics are really ruining their business relationship with their customers, i was extremely disappointed, and im guessing the owner does not care due to the fact that this is clearly a consistent problem, that they have yet to address!

Chilled out and friendly, with great juices. This is a lovely place. The people who work here are very welcoming and helpful. I popped-in to grab a quick juice to-go. But it just has a really nice vibe, so I stayed to do a few hours of freelance work. It s a very comfortable place to relax, and the juices taste very fresh and are made with good quality organic ingredients.

My local bike shop on Hackney Rd has shot down so after getting a flat tire last night I went hunting for a new one in the area. I dropped the bike on the way to the meeting around the corner and it was fixed when I passed by on way home. Quick service, OK price and fairly friendly staff.

I didn't try the food, but the bike repairmen (at least one) was rude. I came in on my lunch break, hoping to make it back in time to the office quickly. There were two people tending customers, none noticed me waiting there for 10 minutes with my bike. One freed up, went somewhere, came back 3 minutes later and continued working on his thing while I was waiting. I had to ask him if he's free.

I went in for a check up. He said they're very busy and that "you're still able to ride it, aren't you".

I really loved the way Chris approaches his work: with lots of heart and dedication to the customer's needs and wishes, plus good ideas of his own. Personal and highly responsive service. Fantastic! And the juice bar next door makes this small but great shop even cooler.

I've had a pair of wheels built, PMP rear hub, Hope Ti front on Ambrosio excellence gold rims. Have ridden for 3 months on them in all weathers with one or two heavy panniers and they are still perfectly true despite potholes, stormy weather, mud etc. (just had to tweak the rear slightly after the first week) Excellent service, fair price, friendly, experienced staff.

Walked in to get a snapped gear shift cable fixed, walked out half an hour later with things shifting like it was new again for a very reasonable amount. Shoreditch atmosphere, but got helpful advice the other couple of times I was there as well.

So incredibly rude, but from reading the other comments this seems to be how they interact with girls.

I've been there a couple times and usually they are nice, but this most recent time they took their arrogance and impudence to a new level. I dropped my bike off in the morning and asked for a quote. They said they would call me with a price when the manager got in. When they called hours later, they had completed all of the work, including putting on bar tape that I had decided against but was planning to inform them when they called with quote. The manager said over the phone it was no problem, there was no point in taking the tape off and he wouldn't make me pay for it. I apologized for the misunderstanding and headed to the shop. When I arrived the manager brought out my bike and proceeded to cut off the bar tape while acting extremely rude and temperamental towards me.... He then proceeded to reprimand me, explaining there was no need to call and give me a quote because I had been to shop on previous occasions to ask about work. So, I stood there staring at this grown man act like a toddler. I tried several times to apologize for the misunderstanding but the manager responded by raising his voice and insisting he was correct. I left wanting to cry.
