There is some shady activity happening at this bar / restaurant. My family went there for Christmas, their waiter overcharged my credit card $20.

Nice decor, awesome job keeping history alive of the hotel while introducing some new artsy and funky furniture elements. The art outside the hotel is nice.
Rooms are spacious, clean. A little bit of noise does start to creep in w morning traffic around 830am.
Beautiful historic building. Garage service. When you enter the restaurant you first wait for the lady at the front desk to finish her text messages and then she will acknowledge you and direct you to the restaurant. Staff is disorganized and take forever to approach guests. Jazz band is nice.
Awesome, place! The old chandeliers and all the story about it, I went there on a Saturday night for a date and it was a great experience, the music was fabulous, the food excellent and friendly staff. It's good that you don't need reservations, they get walk-ins only. It was a perfect night, I was happy that my date invited me there, for sure a extra plus for him.
Amazing!!! The food and decor really make this a relaxing and fun way to have brunch. Will defintely come again.
Just went for late night drinks with friends. Great drinks great atmosphere and not too expensive. If you're in Culver City, definitely go there for a drink
Culver Hotel is a really cool historical landmark in a city without many old buildings. Great atmosphere and good drinks!
Stopped in for happy hour. Great pastrami sliders. Parmesan fries were good, but nothing special.
Always a great time grabbing drinks there. There's live music and dancing in the main lobby, but you can retreat away upstairs (if it's open) or outside in the garden area if you want some piece and quiet. The actual hotel is beautiful and alone makes it worth the trip. Standard price for mixed drinks is around $15.
This place is great they have a band every night till 11 and they serve food until 10 and drinks until around 12.
Diverse menu. The patio is nicely lit with heat lamps for chillier nights. Our server was sweet and attentive, and the food did not take long. My friend had the lavender cocktail which she loved. I think it's a great spot for a date night or even a hangout with friends.
There's also tons to do around which is nice.
I've only been here to hang out and have drinks for a few hours, but it was a great experience great drinks and fun (but pretty crowded) atmosphere! We were in an upstairs lounge area that was furnished with some couches and chairs which was a nice touch.
Historical place with a cool flavour. Better as a bistrot than as restaurant but the quality is absolutely fine for dining. The cozy atmosphere with a good service, complete the place at its best
This place is a landmark. I'm just rating the public area.. Bar/restaurant. It gets two stars for style points. Head upstairs. My experience though is the staff isn't helpful, or that friendly. Staff will completely ignore you if its not their table.. Even if it is to ask to find your server. Drinks are just OK, food, starters not memorable. With SO many other good places to explore within a couple of blocks, I see this as a place to meet and then go somewhere else.. Sorry Culver, you've not kept up with the revolution in Culver City!
Besides me being the valets manager here I love the Culver hotel!!!! Great place to hang out with friends and family at night or during lunch hours!! This hotel has a huge history dating back more then 90years old everything from movie stars, to filming, to little haunted stories, and so on :) it's a very interesting historic place to visit
Went there to listen to live music. Had just had dinner close by and didn't know there was a $25 pet person min. So went upstairs to grab a drink. Unfortunately, couldn't hear any I'd the music from downstairs. Nice ambiance though. Will have to come back to listen to the jazz with dinner.
Beautiful place to have a party, with the friendliest Front of House.
I felt like I was in the Great Gatsby. I loved the vibe there & enjoyed the live entertainment & old movies that were playing
Pretty nice area. Came here for a work event, staff was really nice. The location was historic.
I enjoy the Culver hotel not only for its incredible history but also for its patio and ambiance. Even with all of the construction going on next door the patio is still a surprisingly lovely place to enjoy a happy hour cocktail and snack.
The prices are on the higher side so happy hour (Sun-Fri: 3pm - 6pm) is a good time to try their specialty cocktails. $3 off making them $11 versus the usual $14. I had the Chipping for Birdie which was delicious and light with just enough citrus. There are not a lot of happy hour food options, 4 in total, the Polenta fries are not a bad way to go. You get about six and they are placed on top of an earthy red sauce and covered in parmesan cheese (maybe too much parmesan?!).
They have valet but there are plenty of parking garages and metered parking nearby. They do not validate (no one does) if you choose to park in a garage but the garage prices are not bad.
One of my best stays ever at a hotel.
Super courteous staff and a really pleasant experience at the hotel. This place checks every box in my book for a perfect hotel.
Room extremely neat. Well maintained place.
Quick service from staff. Good choices of breakfast available at the place.
Definitely expensive place. But if you can afford the price I would recommend to not look anywhere else.
Only problem was that WiFi was slower than what I would have liked
I'd say this place is pretty pretentious. Overpriced, uncomfortable and underwhelming.
$6 for a small bottle of water that's about enough for 2 and a half cups. The server asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water, so I figured still water was regular old free water that every other restaurant would give you.
$20 burger than was just okay - the choice of cheese on it was overpowering and very bitter. The fries had zero seasoning and flavor. $23 Flat iron steak was cooked nicely, but the sauce was too sweet. The vegetables cooked with it felt and tasted kind of oily and lacked any other significant flavor.
We were sat at this kind of sofa/coffee table setup. The table sucked. They have a shelf kind of thing below them, so you can't actually stick your legs under the table. You end up hunched over this tiny, low to the ground table to try and eat and it just wasn't comfortable. The table was also uncomfortably close to the couple next to us. It was an older single gold digger telling her date about her sky high preferences for men that are out of her league, so I'll add half a star for the entertainment.
There are okay prices on bottles of wine if you're splitting, but I'd skip the place for food. There are many better options for food around the area (and honestly more fun spots to drink, too). If you need a fancy place in the area for a business dinner, this would do, but again, there are better options all over LA.
2 entrees, a glass of wine, and a bottle of water came out to $69 (Hehe) before tip. It did not feel like an $80+ dollar experience.
Loved the Velvet Lounge. The courtyard is charming. A true gem.
Always enjoy coming here. Has a nice cozy upstairs area.
The best memories I have were from this amazing romantic restaurant.
A MUST!!! Just come see this place. Real retro! Gorgeous and romantic! Great cocktails? Old LA at its best!!!!
Food took a bit longer than expected to arrive after ordering but was excellent. Nice atmosphere, great service, etc.
Pleasant early 20th century atmosphere in this throwback style restaurant with an upstairs almost prohibition style bar. Upstairs bar has bench/stool seating & ~$7 beers / ~$14 cocktails
Food, service, and music were excellent. We got there right before the kitchen was going to close, and they were very accommodating.
I think the menu changed from the last time we visited, so we weren't able to get the things we really wanted.
If you like live music and good food, then this is the place to go. It's great for romantic dates and fancy dinners with friends. The drinks are stiff too!
Was here for a friend's wedding. Beautiful venue, and the rooms are quite nice as well. Love the vibe of the place.
The ambiance was really romantic. Perfect date spot. Warm olives, sparkling wine and live music in the lobby.
Dinner was sensational. Baratta salad with heirloom tomatoes pears and salad. Short ribs. Pits de creme. Cappuccino. Amazing. To top it off there was live music and the service was great.
Go there on Sunday night for dinner.
Great place to grab drinks in Culver. There's an upstairs lounge that opens around 7-7:30pm that makes for an excellent hang out spot away from the main crowd. Also, there were reportedly midget orgies that occurred at this hotel during the filming of The Wizard of Oz.
Really nice place to have a drink. Unique atmosphere that's very inviting. Great mint tea too.
Great ambience, live music, silent film playing, and great bartenders
A beautiful lobby area restaurant and bar, and a truly magnificent lounge upstairs.
I have been the Culver Hotel a number of times. Their bars and restaurants are as good as this hotel itself. Classic and charming.
Cool mini-flatiron building. The restaurant is expensive, but they have excellent musicians. It's nice to sit down and have a drink with jazz. Unfortunately, the music is often a touch loud for easy conversation, but that seems to be the way of the world.
Did I mention that the restaurant is expensive?
You can valet park, or use one of the close by structures.
Great place for atmosphere.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
I was freelancing for a week in Culver City, and just needed a place that was close and clean to crash.
This totally exceeded my expectations. It is an ADORABLE hotel, really decorated to the time period. Beautiful little dressers and armoires in each room, bathrooms were beautiful with robes and everything you could need. Even a cute little fireplace in the room.
Downstairs they have a basic continental breakfast available in the main dining area (which is a beautiful gathering hall), with the option to buy off the main menu (which I wasn't terribly impressed with, but its very convenient). At night it turns into a great little bar with live music.
I would absolutely stay here again.
The experience was great. The vibe of the place was wonderful. I was sitting in with he house band and everyone loved our playing. The only gripe I have with the place is that drinks are horribly expensive. I bought 2 drinks and it was $25 before tip. Other than that it was a great time.
We had an early check out and hotel provide! The room itself was very comfortable with a beautiful huge bed and bathroom.
Came for brunch with bottomless mimosas and it did not disappoint. Food was great, generous portions and the mimosas were delicious.
Wonderful spot in Culver City. Live Jazz music inside and cozy romantic outside. Dinner's tried to be unique and for the most part they were. Friendly wait staff.
I have lived in Culver City my entire life I finally get to step foot Hotel. They got great food and service middle of the heart of screenland. Beautiful area lots to see lots of restaurants to go to. And there is a ArcLight Cinema right next door. If you're in the area stop by and check out this landmark.
Step back into the inter-war period without losing contemporary amenities.
Went with a party of 6. Service was great. Mixed review on drinks. Mine was excellent. Nice ambiance. Would return for drinks with a group anytime. Classy. Didnt try the food.
We had an excellent experience. Our service was top notch the atmosphere is wonderful we had the charcuterie and cheese boards and drinks. Great time.
If you want to travel in time to 1920s NYC-ish vibe and listen to jazz bands and eat delicious food.....this is your spot! Main bar in the dining room, speakeasy bar in the velvet lounge on the Mezzanine level, and outdoor patio with low lights and couches to enjoy yourself. Perfect for date night, tea parties, brunch, and private events!
They can get pretty busy at night. Cocktails and food are pretty solid.
Huge spot on the wedge with lots of seating and large bars. Restaurant leads to upstairs and more. Great service and tasty cocktails. Parking can be tough so use the lots or valet. Playing different music in the various bars and rooms.
Our local #CulverCity #romantic gem. If #datenight is your plan, and your looking for a mature beautiful space with 1950s feel and good food to boot, head on over. Also a great spot for events, business lunches, etc. Ask to see their meeting spaces on the 2nd floor. Annnnd, don t forget to pop into the small 2nd floor bar for an intimate post dinner drink.
Lovely place for a drink or a bite to eat. Usually there's live music inside, great patio seating outside. Sometimes service is a little slow, however.
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and woke up every morning with a smile on my face. This hotel is a hidden treasure. I loved everything from my room, customer service to the hotel chef. It's also in a great location if you plan on exploring L.A. The complimentary breakfast was fabulous and they even offered my favorite, Sencha Tea. The people managing and working in this hotel are detailed. This is a cute and quaint hotel and perfect for a couple traveling or even someone like me that traveled alone. You won't be disappointed.
I only attended the velvet room bar. It was very clean. The drinks were made well and with proper speed.
Great classic LA hotel. Pleasant and helpful staff and nice updated cozy rooms.
An old-fashioned sort of hotel. Not cheap, but exquisite service. This is the place I recommended my mother stay when she visited Los Angeles and she has since returned three times. The staff is very attentive to their guests and absolutely make it worth the money.
We checked into The Culver Hotel and the front desk had a sweet conversation with my 5 year old twins about their lovies and what they liked to eat. Dumbo likes peanuts and Oinky likes sugar apparently. Fast forward 30 minutes to when our room is ready and we walk in to nuts and sugar waiting for us. (Plus cookies for the humans.) How cool (and thoughtful) is that?! On top of the incredible customer service, the rooms were gorgeous, the food was delicious, and our whole stay was magical.
I love the ambience of this place. It's where I stay in LA. But it is looking a little shopworn, curtains fraying to threads at places where pull backs are. Still, love the big corner room bathrooms and the feeling of another time. Had some great service, and some so so service. Live music every night. Even though it's fraying a little, it's my place In LA
Beautiful hotel, very historic. Good drinks and nice service
I'd give a 5 for atmosphere and a 3 for service. You can't beat the ambiance, whether you eat/drink indoors or outdoors. And the bands the jazzy/swing/40s bands they get to play are always great. However, the several times we've been here, the one other thing that sticks out is the service. Not that it was AWFUL, but it wasn't great either. Mostly just slow. But I wouldn't let that stop you from checking out this unique gem of a place.
Pretty nice bar upstairs to hangout with your friends. Live music but kitchen closes at 10. Staff is attentive and polite.
Great drinks and great food! It was a little pricey, but and all-around great time and experience! Highly recommend and would definitely go again!
Gorgeous location for dinner or drinks. They had live music when I was there so check the schedule. Food was excellent whether it was a vegetarian option or more geared to the carnivores.
Love the live music and the energy, perfect match with the historical feeling of the building.
Love this place - as close as it gets to entertainment history in LA. The bar in the lobby is great, with an old school feel, BUT the bar upstairs takes the cake!
I love the lobby bar with live music nightly. The upstairs bar is cozy and cute as well. I've never stayed at the hotel itself, but the food and drinks are great. The atmosphere is positive with a widely eclectic crowd. The lobby can get pretty crowded though, even on week nights.
Gorgeous dining, super elegant and old school. Cool jazz too.
We were in town for a wedding and the people at The Varden could not have been more helpful. I'd mistakenly booked the wrong night but fortunately they had a room and they let us leave our bags in the lobby until it was clean, and then took our bags up for us so they were there when we came back, as well as calling me to let us know the room was ready. Everyone was so kind, personable and warm. It's a cute little boutique, old world hotel, modernized, and very clean. The rooms are small but charming and full of light. Close to everything, too - walking distance from Pine Avenue and the Promenade, as well as to the Queen Mary. A longer stroll will take you to the Long Beach Museum of Art, and even Belmont Shore. There was fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, and pastries available for breakfast. I heard there's a happy hour too, but we weren't around for it. Next time! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Loved the historic feel, cool sitting areas to have a meeting.
Classy yet casual. Low key spot with great drinks and bartenders. Beautiful and intimate upstairs opens at 7 on weeknights. Downstairs gets busy and social. Live DJs and great lighting.
The Velvet Lounge is my favorite bar around here. It's never too busy, the drinks are great, bartenders nice and they don't blast music so you can actually sit with your friends and talk. Just a great atmosphere.
A great place for a romantic and fun night. Good music that allows you to talk
Unique place. Really cool decor and vibe. Super friendly staff.
Such a nice elegance street with a stunning hotel of a design. Food, icecream, yoga all around with a great look especially at night. Way better than the underwhelming look of most LA county.
We had dinner at the Culver Hotel outside on their patio. It was a wonderful place with great food and great servers. A place with such interesting history and very cool architecture. I had the salmon and it was perfect. The staff are very accommodating. If you sit inside they have live music while showing old black and white movies on a screen. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Hollywood nostalgia.
Not what I was expecting. The bartenders were great, apparently there's live music 7 days a week. Place was great, if a little pricey
My wife and I visited the Culver Hotel to listen to some "Jazz" music played by a live band on a Saturday night and get some drinks as well. It turns out the jazz band playing decided to just play pop music's arranged with jazz instruments. Songs like "I Shot The Sheriff", "All About That Bass", and "Oops I Did It Again". Disappointing to say the least... To add the cherry on top, the appetizer we ordered tasted terrible. The pumpkin arancini tasted like it was filled with Mac and Cheese. The drinks were a perfect match in blandness. The smoking gun cocktail tasted nothing like the purported pineapple that was added. But true to its name, it tasted like I licked the wastewater mescal from cleaning the barrel of a gun.
An icon with old Hollywood charm. Not all rooms have attached bathrooms which makes for an interesting way to meet.
Located in the heart of downtown Culver City's bustling foodie community.
Beautiful historic building. Great service. We didn't stay in a room so I cant speak to that but the experience of being there was very cool
Came to the hotel for The Velvet Lounge. It was a little tough to find. You need to walk through the restaurant area and up the stairs. This was a really chill bar. The music is loud enough to hear without being so loud that you can't hear. There are couches and comfy chairs throughout. Be warned, this place is expensive. A cocktail will run you about $14. Overall, I highly suggest this bar.
