Crown Plaza Melbourne Ocean Resort and Spa Review

We were disappointed that it is currently undergoing significant renovations, and the pool is closed. The staff have been very friendly.

I was there during 2015 World Cup and the service was really poor. They kept us waiting for allotting the room for over 6 Hours and noone would reply to us on the status . even at checkout , we were made to wait for over 1 hour as they had no porters to get the lougage from room

The hotel in under a significant renovation and can be noisy at times - and to say it all, the whole area nearby is a huge construction site, so probably having known it in advance, I would have spared myself the stay. However, the service is spot on and the room with river views is quiet, comfortable and reasonably clean, although a bit dusty.
My only complaint refers to the a/c system which is noisy and malfunctioning especially during the night, turning randomly the room into a fridge or an oven.
Would probably return once the renovation is completed.

Service might be good, but I find that their website and overall booking process a bit suspect. Design to trick those that are not paying attention in paying for room upfront, and then also no cancelation policy.

This is my company's preferred hotel and it's definitely one of the best hotels I visit in the course of my travels. On my last stay I had my room upgraded to one looking straight down the Yarra, overlooking the helicopters taking off on the other side of Spencer Street... the room had really good sound-proofing though, I couldn't hear a thing.

The service and atmosphere at the Crowne Plaza as warm and welcoming,with a large range of wines and beverages to choose from.
The prices are reasonable for the location.
On the whole I would recommend the Crowne Plaza to my friends

The place is very close to everything, short walk across the Yarra river and then you are at nice cafe.

Large function rooms. With simple elegant paintings and statues. Overall very clean and elegant.

I enjoyed my stay here. It met expectations of a 4 star hotel and had all the necessary amenities for a business traveller. The staff were very polite and helpful even accommodating me on very short notice. Although it's a large hotel it didn't feel busy or crowded.

Check in and check out were both smooth and straight forward with our bags arriving at the room within minutes of us after checkin.

Crowne plaza is a nice business hotel for short stays. rooms are big, tastefully done and staff is polite and helpful.

Went because of cheap deal .Room was nice however milk for tea was lumpy and could hear the next door toilet when ever it flushed. Grest covenient position near Casino one way and Ethiad Stadium the other

Excellent staff service- super friendly, they made our stay very comfortable.
Hotel room was modern, nice and clean.The BED..was cloud 9!!! We had a View of the River, but next time I'll choose the room with the City view. It has an out door pool .. not ideal for winter, and a gym.

This is an excellent place to stay if you are participating in an exhibition at the convention center.
The rooms are compact. The hotel itself could have a renovation. Breakfast not great for vegetarians.

Very complete toiletries, room looks new, many power points and usb charge points available in the room, all 4 pillows were smelly, no mineral water given and was told to drink the tap water else they will charge for bottled water (tap water in Australia should be safe for drinking but I wasn't sure whether the water was filtered and whether the water piping and inside of the faucet were rusty).

Nice Hotel but swimming pool is outside so we cannot enjoy as weather is bad.

Fantastic room, lovely staff who were so helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable each day for myself and children. Lots of options given the dietary needs. Will stay there again!

A great place to unwind and relax. We had the river view room which had a great view. The lobby bar and the restaurant are worthwhile. Looking forward to returning.

Would have given a 5 star rating had I been notified about renovations when checking in. The noise is enough to wake me up before my alarm each morning. Other than that, very happy with my stay so far.

Bar/breakfast area looking very tired. Bar Staff were also not very across how certain beverages should be served...like fortified wine.

The only thing. What hotel of this standard doesn t have a dedicated movie channel or even Fox movies?

Quality hotel in a good spot. Was a bit worried that we would be out of the action, but the hotel was in a great spot to get around the city with the tram stop just out the front. Had a great stay with no complaints, staff were helpful and professional and facilities were tasteful and well maintained.

Had a quick breakfast at the restaurant and were really disappoint with the quality of food and coffee!

Friendly staff who provided a recently upgraded room with a view of the river. Very close to the casino and places to eat.

Location has excellent views of the Flinders Street station. On the other side, you have good views of the Melbourne convention centre. Facilities were nice and clean.

Nice hotel, bit of an odd shape though and quite a bit of walking to get to the rooms? Perfectly clean though. Breakfast buffet is good.

Won a stay here due to a competition and was not disappointed. Just to note this is a review in terms of one person staying in a room:

- All the staff here were nice and friendly
- Facilities and room were spot on clean
- Good sized TV, has USB playback, unlike another certain hotel near the train station
- Breakfast was properly done right, with staff to assist for seating. Dinner services were also up to par
- Right near the casino and exhibition centre opposite the bridge

Only some improvements:
- The pillows were flat, needed to stack 2-3 on top to get my neck right
- This is not a negative comment, but if they can increase parking for their hotel somehow it will do wonders

The "junior" room as it was called was compact but well appointed. The staff are fantastic and accomodating even allowing me to checkout later after my flight was delayed without being charged for it.

Great location in Melbourne, can't really go wrong there. It's a good and clean hotel and ideal for a business trip or for a weekend stay but rooms on the small side so would be a struggle with more than 2 people in a room. Been refurbished well recently but lobby still under refurbishment.

Have stayed at numerous Crown Plazas and this by far is the most disappointing as a priorities Member with IHG was not treated to any upgrades nor special treatment. Melbourne as a lot to learn about customer Service with their guests. When u pay for Valet Parking you expect them to have your car ready outside and help you put your bags in , Thats what you pay for only to have the girl at the desk hand you the keys and say its parked down there have a nice day , The little things that go a long way are not here.

These are littel things but when you are paying good money for service and it doesnt arrive then you have to question it

Clean and tidy with friendly staff. The rooms are a little small and not very sound proof. Great location in the centre of Melbourne and the price was pretty good.

Awesome service and location..room had a great view of the Yarra River and city skyline....it was plenty big enough despite other reviews...maybe spend more on a suite if size is an issue instead of blaming the hotel for your minimalist budget...I would have given five stars if no renovation was going but not their fault..they handled it really well

Room ok, good bed, closed restaurant only possibility to eat at the bar, with reduced selection and coffee tables, low, not normal tables.

Overlooking the Yarra river close to public transport, casino, south wharf but very quiet.

Nice and clean place by the river... staffs was good but the building was not new, the helicopter nearby the Crown casino might be a bit noisy sometimes
