4hrs+ and waiting. Mostly rude staff lacking empathy and or sympathy. Not sure if they are just burned out, overworked or what??? Would love to assist in a project with better organization, signup process and or anything to make this work flow for those in need, volunteers and others less of a hassle, less time consuming along with more positive outcomes even if they are unable to assist. To think at this point all I want is confirmation that my name and or paperwork is still awaiting to be reviewed and still will happen TODAY!

This place is a blessing to many people. Their motto is to help the community but they do more than that. Some of the employees might sound rude or aggravated from time to time but other than that the place is very good.

Great resource for those in need of assistance with paying utility bills during a major life event (has definitely helped my family during a time of crisis when paying for a water bill that was extremely expensive when our pipeline broke).
Also, the "Free Store" enables those with low income and their families to shop for clothes, shoes, personal care items, furniture, and household goods for FREE!
But with such an offer, expect a LONG LINE and a wait that can take anywhere from 45 minutes to a few hours (make sure to arrive by 7:30 am at the latest to receive services with a shorter wait time. No breakfast this morning? No problem, most times staff provide food for those waiting in line early).

Not only am I now homeless I homeless with two kids. They say don t let things get too far behind but they would not ATTEMPT to help until then and I still got evicted.

A great place for people that are facing homelessness or already homeless can find a lot of resources to help them get housed, or at least leave them in the right direction to sign up for extra resources. They also have showers and laundry, and an art program, running program, they serve lunch daily from 11:15 to 12:15. There are many volunteer in missionary opportunities for anyone that would like to become a volunteer

As an immuno-suppressed 4-organ transplant recipient who has been unable to work since the initial outbreak of Covid-19, I reached out for the first time to obtain rental assistance. I spoke with a nice lady named Crystal who would later send me an application which I filled out and returned. However, 2 months and roughly 7 unanswered phone calls later, I realized that my urgency was no concern of theirs. Me and my 2 children are now not only facing homelessness, but neglect from an organization that claims to provide temporary aid for those in need. Truly disappointed.

Horrible! I came in on October 6th and had a decent experience. I gave in my paperwork that day and received an appointment for October 20th for my interview for rental and utility assistance. 15 weeks pregnant and standing outside and then inside on line for about 45 minutes, I was finally checked in. I was called into Door A for my interview with i believe her name was Jenny. She explains to me that my entire rent balance cannot be paid and I had a few options in terms of what they can offer me for a partial rent payment and paying my electric bill. Obviously stressed finding out after waiting that my rent cannot be paid and even the partial payment is NO WHERE close i asked if I could make a call to my aunt to determine what option i should take and if she can offer me assistance. Jenny said yes but to "stand over here so she can see me". What??? So I'm trying to convey to my aunt who is in New York, and at work what is going on. After about 5 minutes Jenny starts interrupting my convo, and attempts to kick me out. She said she has other people to see. I asked her for 2 more minutes. She said "do you want to put your aunt on speaker?" before I could even respond she gathered up my paperwork and escorted me back out into the lobby and said it could be 4pm before she calls me back into the office. It was 945a. I went outside crying and upset to the point i began vomiting since im pregnant and had to go home from becoming ill. Jenny was insensitive, rude and treated me like less of a human. I provided feedback on crisis website. Disgusting.

***changing my 1 star to a 3. received a phone call from Jenny's manager Kim and she apologized for what happened and helped me out. Thank you for calling back and showing you guys do care about people in stressful moments.***

This is a wonderful organization that provides assistance to those in need in our community. I had the opportunity to volunteer in the donation center. I sorted items that had been donated and would be made available in the free store.

Helpful & kind. Allows those with disabilities to go in first & I'm assuming the same for Seniors. I do wish they would ask for verification of income as I overhear time after time people who obviously have money discussing how they're using what they get for yard sales. Disgusting!!!

I love this place. They have helped me and my family through a very tough time. I find myself going back after 10 years and i see new workers who dont know the meaning of being nice. I had one worker at the window#3 on 6/4/17 who was very rude to me when i asked if she could staple my paperwork...she told me i was rude because i interrupted her...i meant no harm...long lines and waits make you anxious..she snatched the paperwork out of my hand and stapled it backwards! Long lines ans waits you tend to notice everything. I was wondering why was there a worker in window#6 on 6/4/17...texting on her cellphone several times.taking her time fixing her hair straightening items on her desk..the picture frame placed very carefully...im on disability sat down there from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45...only to be sent home to come back the next day. There should be a better system and training of workers i dont want to be there i have no choice its frausting to have to go and deal with attitudes. Dont kick a man when they are down.

We read that it would help with rent. So after I was released from the hospital while still being quarantined from work with no pay, we decided to visit this place. We brought everything it listed for proof of residence and all only to get two pieces of paper in return. It's an "eviction prevention" act, supposedly it's a proposal by the gov or president or what not. Then they tell us if the managers neglect these 2 pieces of paper, call the number for a lawyer, ect ect. It states they can't evict you until Jan 2021. THIS IS NOT RENTAL ASSISTANCE, IT'S NOT EVICTION PREVENTION, IT IS AN EVICTION DELAY!

Wonderful people work here. It is embarrassing to be in a situation where you can't pay your bills, but these people make it better. Hopefully, I won't need them again, but if I do, then I know that they will help as much as they can.

Crisis Ministries: Providing Assistance and Advocacy for People in Financial Crisis

Crisis Ministries, also known as Crisis Assistance Ministry, is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community since 1975. The mission of the organization is to provide assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency.
