Crisis Assistance Ministries was very organized considering we are in the midst of Covid-19. For all who may be going to CAM for assistance, here's what to expect:

I went at about 2pm. Everyone remains in their cars. The cars are lined up on the street and a guard will be there to guide the cars onto the grounds.
Still remaining in your car until you reach the front. Next, the guard will inform each car where to park. Which is at the front of the building. Each person will be called in order as they were parked.

People are outside at the tables. They will give you a application to complete and tell you to move your car across the street and complete your application and get back in the line and come back around. Hint Hint! Try to print the application online and complete it at home. If you can!

When it's your turn. You will turn your paperwork in. It's checked for completion and they will check for all required documents. Your packet is taken into the building, scanned into the system and given back to you.

Now, don't expect an on-the-spot answer or approval. You are told you will receive a call from a case manager. Now, it's time to head back home and wait on your call. I went today. Didn't get a call yet, but probably because I went late. I'm praying for a yes!

Too much bullying by Jackie and her goons, the staff even if they have to indirectly do will take from the clients but that's their poverty and where there's poverty there's crime and where there's crime there's death! The staff ran Jehovah's witnesses out,I can't wait till something is done to jahbulon creators of Babelon for this! One thing I've learned is apostates will stop at nothing to sit at an extreme sporting event!

They are really helpful and offer services I didn't even know about. The employees were very respectful and willing to help out anyway they can. The lines are long but it's well worth the wait. I would recommend this facility to everyone in need of assistance.

When reading Crisis' mission statement, that reads...

When reading Crisis' mission statement, that reads, their organization stands to prevent homelessness and preserve dignity, I take that as reassurance and comfort in knowing that for a little while, I can breath if only for a moment. But when you're told that the income you get for your household, that they require that you have, is not enough income, sufficient for them to validate their reasoning for providing the help you so desperately need, What do you do? Where do you go? You've provided every paper, email, voicemail or any other document to show your transparency about your situation. A situation you didn't ask to be in. I got cancer, I didn't ask for it. I lost everything because I could no longer work. I'm waiting to get in front of a judge to get what's due to me in regards to my monetary disability. So I've been fighting hard to keep a roof over me and my daughters head, and her child support is the only income right now. Now I'm at that end of the line, where three weeks ago I was told funds were exhausted for my rent. Then today, I was told, my child support is not enough income for them to reach and help stop an eviction. They're too afraid I may be back asking again. So much for committing to preventing homelessness. It's almost as if that's where they want you to end up. Homeless. Now crisis has helped me before in the past and I've thanked them each and every time. But when you tell me everyone situation is different, then I question that. Because everyone that I've seen is there for the same thing I'm there for, to get necessary help. And there should not ever be a biased decision with help. No one wants to be put out on the street if they're trying to keep the place they're in. I see me having more dignity in trying to keep a roof over my head instead of reading a mission by a organization that doesn't seem to want to care about me. I paid taxes for the last nineteen years that I worked in this state before my cancer diagnosis. Even when I fell on hard times, crisis didn't see my face. I had too much dignity. There were people in greater need and I was working. Didn't want to take away from their need especially those elderly and sick. Crisis knew nothing of me until cancer entered my life and has tried to change my life. Besides that, I still see doctors every month and take medicine to stay calm throughout all of this. Just because on the outside you see me and I may look fine, but out of all my transparency that I've laid on the table, you should know the struggles I'm going through aren't easy. I don't wish what has happened to me on anyone. And sometimes it takes certain situations for some to understand and see just how unfair life can be. Thank you for the help you have provided in the past, but I think your policy sucks. I voted on a bill this past mid election to fund places like you. $50M is what you all should have been allocated. I wish my vote showed somewhere in that. Maybe you all should have a listening ear for those that need empathy. I mean a real ear.

Crisis ministry only help those who are already in...

Crisis ministry only help those who are already in a bad position. They do not help those who are trying to avoid being without utilities etc (AS CLAIMED ON WEBSITE). I had a disconnect notice and was told to come back on 3 separate occasions. When I first was ask to come back it was on the bills due date. I had to pay X Amt by 5pm Friday or full Amt over the weekend to avoid disconnect on Monday. Got there Fri told me to come back Monday. I ask them if I come when my lights disconnected and have no chance at paying that(higher) Amt can they guarantee me assistance. They told me no they can only guarantee i speak with a case worker. So I call Duke and made an arrangement and came back Tues and they told me to come back AGAIN after the lights were disconnected(my arrangement date) I am pregnant with two kids, no family here in NC and they rather me be in the dark w/no lights or a/c, risk not getting enough help before CONSIDERING to help me. & let s not forget the time, energy, & money I wasted being there 3x for several hours at a time to be told they re aren t going to help. I think it should be a priority to help those to avoid losing their home, utilities along with everything else not only help when it happened already. I have a better chance getting 2 something instead of 6 something. &they couldn t guarantee they ll get them bck on.

Great people! If you're in a bind due to Life's unexpected woes; job loss, sickness or starting a new job & need assistance with rent & passed due utilities they may be able to help you out depending on your situation. Be sure to bring all the needed documents; rental lease, late rent notice, passed due bills, proof of income for the last 30 days (pay stubs, SNAP or any other assistance documents), photo ID, SSN. Arrive early, they're open at 8am & closed by 5pm (Mon-Fri). They don't assist based on what time you've arrived though, they assist based on every individual's needs. So expect a long wait, plan ahead. Bring snacks, drinks, lunch, phone chargers (power banks are better if you have one). Something to keep children occupied will make the experience easier on parents. They have free wifi so a phone or tablet would work...

It's great that there is a resource like it here in CLT. One critique...the people that work here need to do so with more of a sense of urgency. They need to get people taken care of and on their way. Some take the time to come here and the wait is seemingly endless. The staff needs to speed it up. Kinda slack?

About Crisis Ministries

Crisis Ministries: Providing Assistance and Advocacy for People in Financial Crisis

Crisis Ministries, also known as Crisis Assistance Ministry, is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community since 1975. The mission of the organization is to provide assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency.

The organization was founded by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need for emergency financial assistance in their community. Over the years, Crisis Ministries has grown to become one of the largest providers of emergency financial assistance in Mecklenburg County.

Crisis Ministries provides a range of services to help individuals and families facing financial crisis. These services include emergency rent and utility assistance, clothing vouchers, furniture vouchers, and referrals to other community resources. In addition to these services, Crisis Ministries also offers financial education classes and job readiness training programs.

One of the unique aspects of Crisis Ministries is its focus on advocacy. The organization works closely with local government officials and other community organizations to address systemic issues that contribute to poverty in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Through its advocacy efforts, Crisis Ministries aims to create lasting change that will benefit all members of the community.

In order to fund its programs and services, Crisis Ministries relies on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and faith-based organizations. The organization also operates two thrift stores – one in Charlotte and one in Monroe – which generate revenue through sales of donated goods.

If you are interested in supporting Crisis Ministries’ mission or learning more about its programs and services, there are several ways you can get involved. You can make a donation online or by mail; volunteer your time at one of their locations; or shop at one of their thrift stores.

In conclusion,Crisis Assistance Ministry plays an important role in providing support for those experiencing financial hardship within our communities.Their commitment towards advocating for systemic change sets them apart from other organizations with similar missions. If you are looking for ways to give back or support those around you,Crisis Assistance Ministry is an excellent place start!
