Some of the best Peruvian food outside of Peru! The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The truffle ceviche, tirado, and anticuchos del pollo were standouts.
Bad and expensive!!! On top of the dishes being very little, the waitresses take them before your even done. This is not a restaurant. It is more kind of a very expensive tapas bar! If you want to have dinner, this is not the place. If you want to listen to loud music, have a drink and buy expensive little dishes, maybe.
Good food! Way overpriced. Service was mediocre at best when it got busy. $25.00 cold coffee (should have been hot) drink was not acceptable. $260.00 for 2 peeps too much for fair service.
I'm posting this because I know people don't really post reviews unless they have a negative experience. I've been told both good things and bad about Coya in Miami. I personally had a good time and the food was good. Not great but good. The place is nice and the service was too. The only bad thing I would say was the fact that they sat us near the bar area so we practically had to scream the entire night. Other than that all went well.
My first time in this restaurant, and was a terrible experience, the restaurant was empty and they make us wait at the front for a table. The food have a good taste, but the service was very poor, think twice before you visit this place.
We went to Coya for the Miami Spice special and we were blown away. The restaurant is beautiful, starting with the bar area which is casual and elegant. Our polite greeter walked us to the main dining room which was already buzzing at 7:15PM. We were promptly seated and our waiter Thomas came over to greet us. Starting with the appetizers; ceviche and salmon we knew we were in for a treat. Our food was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the sea bass and duck which were some of the best we have ever tasted. We do enjoy many fine dining establishments and although Coya is more casual than most, the food is top notch. Our waiter Thomas was very attentive and personable and really added to the experience with his grace and charm. The dining room is beautiful and pleasant with lots of opportunity for people watching. We loved the experience and would highly recommend it.
If u are going with a party of 6 or more make sure someone Sober reviews bill . They are known to overcharge on water bottles( still water at $8) and if they can they will add another bottle of wine to check. Not good; Mgr apologizes at door when ur ready to leave.Poor tactic.
Went there for the happy hour and stayed for dinner. Beautiful food but the restaurant is a bit expensive. Best empanadas ever!
We had dinner last night at Cayo Miami. We were 2 couples. The ambiance is great. It has a funky Moroccan look to it and the walls are adorned with hip artists from L.A. to New York. Cool music, very upbeat and stylish. The food was excellent. Everything we ordered had artistic and thoughtful plating, and the flavor combinations and tastes were really good. With that being said, let s get to the service and value. BIG problems here. First, we are 4 and they seat us at a 5 top. It took 15 minutes for our server to come to the table and introduce herself. She was trying hard but it was obvious she could barely speak English. She took drink orders, 3 cocktails and I ordered a glass of chardonnay. 15 minutes later she took our dinner order before the drinks even arrived. I asked her several questions about items and she could only reply very good . All of our drinks arrived at different intervals. 1 drink had to be sent back twice because it was wrong. Still no chardonnay for me. Food started arriving for ONLY Kym and Hopper. Still no drink for me, and no food for Vince and I. It has now been 40 minutes since I ordered a glass of wine. Everyone else has their drink and 2 people have food. My drink finally comes and it s the wrong wine. They take it away. More food comes, but again, only food for Kym and Hopper. So we have now been sitting there for over an hour, I still don t have a drink and Vince and I still don t have any food while Kym and Hopper are now completing their dinner. A food runner comes to the table with a plate that my boyfriend and I are hoping is ours and it s another mistake. It is for another table. We ask him if they have bread or something that we can have until our food come out. He responds incredulously and says Well we have tortillas. Do you want that?? Yes please. Then a gentleman arrives at our table, who I m assuming was a manager, and says to me I m so sorry, this glass of wine is on us. I finally get my wine! 5 minutes later, the bottle of chardonnay we ordered with dinner arrives that was supposed to be for everyone after our aperitif. Server opens the wine, pours it for 3 people (not me because I just got my glass of wine) then puts the bottle in front of another table. When the 3 glasses are empty, no one comes by to refill them and we can t do it ourselves because the bottle is at another table. 15 minutes later we had to ask our server to please refill the wine glasses, and when she does she pours Kym and Hopper two full glasses and gives Vince a few drops. Now keep in mind my Vince and I STILL don t have any food. Food runner comes and serves me ONLY. Not Vince. 10 minutes later, they deliver Vince s food and guess what? Wrong order .again. So we continue to wait. It finally comes. We ask for the bill. $450 for 4 people. Way overpriced for the amount of food we had. I myself only had one small plate. Vince had 2 small plates. Kym and Hopper had about 6 small plates and the bottle of wine was $120. After of all negligence that went on over the past 2 hours, they add a 20% ($70) service charge to our bill. When I managed restaurants in Florida last year, it was illegal to charge a gratuity in parties under 6 people. I don t know if that now has changed, but it was definitely insult to injury. You are only supposed to tip 10% on a bottle of wine, not 20% but they added it anyway. What a disaster! So unorganized. I really don't even think they realize how bad the service is because the manager didn't even come to the table at the end of dinner and apologize. There are SO many amazing options in Miami, I would highly recommend avoiding this place unless you have a lot of time on your hands, deep pockets, and don t care at all about service.
Many other places in Brickell have much better service and accommodations. Food was just ok, but nothing that stood out from many other Brickell favorites. Poorly made pisco sour coated with cinnamon. I couldn't even finish it, and I love pisco sours! We made a reservation weeks in advance for a special occasion but were seated in a cramped small table...felt like we were sharing in conversation with the two couples next to us. At one point, a server was speaking to the couple on the table next to us and the back of his jacket was touching my food. We asked to be seated in a different table, but the server said they had no space available. Mind you, this was on a weekday and the back room seemed to be empty. We were so uncomfortable that we only ordered a drink and didn't make it to dessert. Terrible pick for a special occasion if you want a comfortable ambiance and privacy.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Good pisco over and desserts
Soooo good. Everything was perfect. Excellent ceviche, pisco sours, service. Will come again!
Loved the place. The service was great starting from valet all the way to the chef. First time I have seen a female valet attendant, was great to see a female open my girlfriends door. The food was great didn't take long to receive it, cooked to perfection
Done up real well..... upscale Peruvian resturant..... Expensive.... good food.....
Ate here for Miami Spice 2016 - the flavors are so unique and the decor is beautiful. A very nice ambience and you might see a celebrity or two!
Do not even think of going. It is expensive, poorly attended and the food nothing special. The staff treats you as if they were your superiors. The menu is poor, with few options. The food is nothing to write home about and I found it too salty. The ceviches know all the same. I ordered a rice casserole with sea bass and the rice was gone. Maybe they charge you like gold, I think it's extremely pretentious. I do not plan to return.
If I could give this place no starts, I would. I can't comment on the food because they didn't allow me to order any. I stopped there on my way home from a cocktail party. I needed to use the restroom, so I saw this place and stopped by asking if I could buy a drink (but really I was there for the restroom). The hostess told me that they weren't open for the public yet, so I explained to her that I really needed to use the restroom because that was the only open place around. She refused and asked me to leave. I live in downtown Miami and they just lost a customer. This is a very low class thing to do, not neighborly at all. I felt really bad and humiliated.
Booked a table 5 days in advanced. Received a confirmation text. Arrived to find that they lost my reservation.
Food was tasty but portions are tiny and expensive for what you get. Our party left still hungry.
Beware of the added charges to your bill, while waiting at the bar for a dinner date, I had a Glass of wine this was happy hour, When my date showed up I paid my bar tap and notice I was charged $18.00 plus service charge. So I left her $26 so that it would include the tip. Later I found out that wine in Happy hour are $8. and at dinner my waiter added to the bill a second bottle of wine that I did not order.. seems they are hungry for extra money. Beware of the added charges! Not going back ever.
I was invited to Coya and my experience has been extraordinary! I am a vegetarian so I ordered some tacos with quinoa and broccoli and a mushroom satai. Simply exquisite My friend ordered a divine rice! 100x100% recommended
Coya has offices in London, Dubai and now Miami. The decoration is eclectic and original. It has several environments and a private area for members. Its food is based on Peruvian cuisine and other flavors of Latin America. The bar is sensational and the atmosphere of Coya reminds us why Miami is the new Metropolis of the world, there we have a Suntory Japanese Whiskey, the same as Bill Murray drinks in the movie Lost in Translation . Additionally it is one of the few restaurants with a Josper (a combination between a grill and an oven) that is the Rolls Royce of professional kitchens.
The outside seems jungle like. You have to walk through the bar to get to the restaurant. I almost walked out it was so loud. Thankfully, the dining space is much quiter. The duck rice bowl was amazing. Asparagus was really good to. If service was more attentive, I'd consider a higher rating.
Had an absolutely amazing brunch here at Easter. Food was perfectly executed and had great flavors. Drinks were top notch as well as the service.
I went for Miami Spice lunch to try Coya out. It was okay. None of the courses really blew my mind. The best part was the dessert. The cheesecake was amazing. The croquetas were a bit bland. The pork belly dish was good but you can get that somewhere else just as good.
Nice atmosphere, service is good but the problem is pricey for the size of portions but their truffled cerviche was great!
Very beautiful place, but the sound too loud. The entrees surpassed (oysters, guacamole) but the dish we ordered (Robalo) left something to be desired, very boring to eat with pimples and tasteless. Choose thankless boss to the menu.
This is probably my favorite restaurant in the whole world. I visited in London and was so happy the Miami location was just as perfect!! The ceviche was the freshest I've had in my life. Some other favorites were the seabass croquettes, corn salad, and the seabass entree was to die for. Dessert was just as good! The tart was our favorite. I would eat here every day if I could. Also try the signature pisco sour cocktails!
Amazing Peruvian cuisine and wine pairing. Fabulous!
COYA ... HIGH PERUVIAN KITCHEN in the Heart of BRICKELL He will fall in love with the Princess of Brickell ... he will fall in love with Coya! The boom of Peruvian gastronomy is expanding all over the world. Coya, recognized in London, Dubai, and now in Miami, is a varied and exquisite culinary fusion serving Peruvian High Cuisine in the heart of Brickell. In this Restaurant you will literally feel like in a Palace, thanks to the decoration, the music, the food and the careful attention. Ceviche is prepared in various forms. They use snapper with mushrooms, ponzu, Chinese onion; nikei salmon with celery, kion, turnip, coriander and wasabi juice; Corvina with red onions, sweet potato and corn teeth. We tried the Ceviche Sampler (The Traditional, in Sesame & Siyau Sauce and Octopus) Anticuchos, Prawns accompanied by an aromatic and gentle Pisco Sour ... EXTREME FLAVOR !!!
I didn't like the menu. It was mostly seafood and I don't like seafood. Also, the stuff on the menu were not meals. They were samples. And on top of being samples, they were really expensive. I ordered beef kabobs. I got two six inch sticks with 3-4 chunks on each. And that's it. That was the "meal". I ordered a side dish of corn rice that tasted like burnt popcorn. I also got dessert, chocolate cake plus a scoop of ice cream. That was the best part. All of that cost me $45. I left unsatisfied (and feeling fat cuz the dessert was the biggest portion) and made some food for myself at home later. The ambiance was good. Our waiter too. The one nice thing is they let my party order when the kitchen was closing cuz half of us arrived really late. So I gave a nice tip for that. But otherwise, I didn't like this place and I'm never coming back.
Delicious drinks, amazing atmosphere, very friendly staff! Very International vibe. Beautiful interior design.
In general, it is a good restaurant, but somewhat expensive for what they offer.
Great cocktails and food and the atmosphere and ambiance is stunning.
The restaurant is nice and the staff friendly, the food nothing exceptional and it is too expensive for what it offers.
The extremely flavorful dishes will make you want to come back again and again. When I love a place, I become a regular, a supporter, a self proclaimed ambassador. The food is always amazing. It's a great place to come with friends for a "quintessential Miami" night out that happens to put out several great dishes.
Amazing food, cozy restaurant, great drink selection. Service is a little slow but that could be depending on the night.
The food, the cocktails, the very nice atmosphere. Recommended.
I really like the atmosphere and gorgeous decor!... The food was divine and very well served. My favorite were the beef and chicken Anticuchos A MUST TRY! Great place to have drinks at the bar with life DJ and then prepare yourself for an unforgettable dinner!
Very good tapas bar, enjoyed the meal and hospitality
Trendy and beautifully designed Peruvian tapas restaurant with delicious Asian inspired dishes - try the chirashi bowl, sea bream ceviche, and corn sundae
AVOID. Unless you like obnoxious and self-obsessed front of house. Invited to a community day. Arrived late and not let in. Fair enough. But not allowed to go fetch my wife and her friend from inside. Appalling. Apparently they also ran out of drinks. Disorganized and zero customer attention. Ignore the clearly 'sponsored' 5 star rating. I could not be more local but won't be going back.
Delicious Food, Great variety of foods and drinks.Service was quick.
Very impressive! Great ambiance, hidden rooms all over the place. Too 3 best Peruvian food in Miami...and there are a lot! Don't miss the Arroz Nikkei sea bass in a cast iron pot!
Service was fair. The foods taste was amazing but the portions are way to small. Payed 30+ dollars for one order of duck and got 2 small pieces with rice under... The atmosphere is amazing. And the drinks were excellent. A little over priced but overall ok
It's been ages since I wrote a restaurant review. In my past life, it was one of the many things that I used to do and took much joy doing so. Tonight we were invited to the Friends and Family event at Coya - the Miami outpost of the highly praised London restaurant. Over the last year, I have visited London over eight times. With a winning vote among friends and 5-star hotel concierges Coya was the recommended place to go each time. To my disappointment, I never made it to the restaurant during my time there. Which perhaps was a saving in disguise as I did not have a level of standard to compare my experience to...We walked in on time for our booking and were greeted by a cordial hostess who graciously gave us a quick tour and walked us to our table. Our server Maggie and what I assume may be the Manager of Wait Staff, Neau (sorry for butchering the name) were both divine characters; kindhearted, good humored and very affable...and yes, of course, knew all the dishes and their ingredients by heart. Opening ceremony was with yellowtail tiradito --generous pieces of fish with extraordinary flavor and texture in a creamy sauce with a garlicky bite. I can immediately tell, we are on for a great ride. Following suit were 3 different ceviches including an all vegetarian one made with zucchini that was out of this world. Sea bream and the sea bass ones were also the best I have tasted in Miami thus far. Just when we had enough time to savor the last bite of the appetizers the entrees were served. A succulent, tender octopus with a crispy bite at the end; a juicy steak exploding with flavor in every bite and a moist chicken that has gone extinct with the exception of Andrew Carmellini's kitchen. Above all, or at least equally sumptuous, were the masterfully prepared vegetables which single-handedly had the ability to shot down "National Beef" forever. The corn ice cream with chunks of pineapple finished with caramel corn had intense flavor, yet was light enough to make one lick with last bite of the spoon. Need I say I am a fan...and selfishly happy to find a welcoming venue thoughtfully designed with food that is delicious and does not over try (to be Peruvian, Chinese and Indian all at ones.) Coya is a breadth of fresh air in Miami's culinary scene and a much awaited one.
The food was excellent and the service and ambiance was good. The corn salad sounds standard but is amazing!!!
The food is very rich, the decoration and beautiful locations, but it is quite expensive. And parking is very complicated.
Beautiful restaurant but it is a joke for what peruvian food really is, cebiches were not even ok, antichuchos too spicy and omg the worst peruvian drinks if you get to go here go for spanish cazuelas or anything else but avoid the peruvian food. Mojitos here are great!
Came here for brunch, enjoyed every bite and every minute of my experience.
The worst food ever! I'm Peruvian, and it is a "sin" to call this restaurant "Peruvian". Me and my wife went to have dinner and beside the fact that it was more expensive than usual, food is worthless. I will never go back again! I'm actually thinking to call the Peruvian consulate in Miami to ask them to do not call this restaurant anything related to Peru. Their "anticuchos" are not "anticuchos", the salsa huancaina has ketchup.... which is an insult for us the peruvians! Don't waste your time.
I did not love anything about this place- which considering all the great restaurants in Miami, makes it a 3 star place in my book. The restaurant itself had a nice ambiance and is decorated very nicely. I did not find the food to be too flavorful and, as a result, found this restaurant to be over priced. I ordered the "rollo salmon" which was basically a jb roll with crunchy quinoa on the outside and a hint of huancaina. I think it would have been delicious had they not forgotten to include the cream cheese. With the huancaina they definitely needed the cream cheese to balance the flavor. We also ordered the chicken, shrimp, and steak skewers, and the only one that was worth getting was the steak. The other two were nothing special. The duck spring rolls were pretty much just shredded duck that relied on hoisin sauce for its flavor.
Great experience, I sat at the bar, which had a limited menu- but still plenty of options. The Chili Margarita was the shining star of the show. They use avocado in it which makes it creamy and balances the spice just right.
