Don't let these CASE WORKERS push you around. Many of them don't have a degree in social work, and simply just got a job. We don't owe them anything, they are working for us. They try their absolute HARDEST to make getting cash benefits hard to get, and keep. They will, at any turn, try to pay you 300 a month instead of 250. These case workers, who are just regular people with a little bit of training, seem bitter at poor people asking these people for the assistance that the government has guaranteed them.

My husband and I were treated with tremendous compassion and workers did their very best to help us. There was a problem with their technology, however. The fax machines were totally backed up and could not take out faxes, so we had to drive in. But the workers were absolutely AWESOME!! Especially Scott! Thank you so much!!

Helpful and nice service. Clean place, nice toilets, usually fast service, but if you will come at 12:00-13:00 you may experience a delay and wait about 2 hours for all the things to be done, because they will have a lunch time. But they has a free wi-fi.
They also has a research room, where you can use a PC, printer and phone for free. Very useful.
Most of people who work here - polite and friendly. But, unfortunately they doesn't know all protocols and procedures they can execute in order to help you.
Big plus - there are alwas a worker, who can speak your native language.

They do their best...be polite and understand that many others are in need...one individual or family has similar issues....being abrasive and demanding towards staff will get one nowhere...realize you are asking for help...so just relax and go with the systems...bring a book a magazine water...a lunch..etc.

**Update...I discussed the matter with the representatives at the Ombudsman office the very next day 10/24/17. There, we contacted the number Cynthia desperately wanted me to call and the ombudsman faxed the documents they needed which were NEVER submitted by Cynthia nor the guy behind the document submission counter. I left sort of happy being told Cynthia would be spoken to. I also informed them that I will still go in person for various reasons.** 10/23/17 I arrived to submit paystubs and ask questions concerning my case. Because the department has a new phone/online system, they are encouraging people to utilize those rather than coming physically into the office. Even more, customers/clients are no longer given an assigned case worker but the website CLEARLY indicates we are STILL WELCOME to come in WITHOUT an appointment -and- EVERY case worker (when called to review your case) is equipped to help with all your needs....that was NOT the case with me today! I came in thinking that I would be seen in PERSON as I always have even after the changes and walk out knowing everything was good....didn't happen. Cynthia L. Wilson, the Human Services Supervisor overheard me telling the caseworker I would not call the 1-874 # because I WAS ALREADY THERE! She literally came out yelling, proceeded to over talk me, and told the guard to walk me out. Mind you, this is all because she was too lazy to HELP (SUPERVISE) the employee who couldn't answer my questions at the document drop off station. First of all, I am totally unclear as to why my case was sent to the worker there when I stated my purpose was to drop off documents AND discuss my case with a worker to ensure I submitted any and all documents required and to find out what else they needed if such. What they both wanted was for me to put it in someone else's hands because it was late and told me to call the number. For what???!! If I am THERE...what purpose is it for me to "call" the hotline???? Cynthia came out speaking to me as if I were her child yelling saying that I couldn't tell her worker I wouldn't call the hotline and literally told me no for whatever I needed...this lack of a woman didn't even give me the decency to let her know what I even came in there for. Cynthia, you are getting PAID to assist...do your JOB! As I was leaving, I recorded the fact that they tried to brush me off to the hotline rather than help me and do what they are paid to do. In the vid, you can clearly hear that I did nothing wrong but question why I was being passed off. What I find EXTREMELY odd was she asked the worker to give her my case...then walked in her office. THAT alone shows she had the TIME to help! Not only that, in order to become a supervisor, one must actually know how to help those who cannot do what they ought to know how to do. How is she a supervisor when she's literally TELLING ME to call the hotline and I am LITERALLY right there!!!????? She needs to understand her position and what it entails. Cynthia is in no way professional and if a walk in service is provided in which ALL workers can handle a case, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SHOULD EXPECT.

On a side note, another client/customer informed me that she too was brushed off and told to call the hotline number. She informed me that when she did, she was told by the hotline she had to go in the office. She also stated that she recognized them brushing me off. In the vid...you can CLEARLY hear the demeaning tone of the security guard telling me to exit WITHOUT any reason except for Cynthia's incompetent unprofessional self telling him to. I have every right to be upset and I just might have others document their actions personal experience here with similar situations. I shouldn't be forced to provide information and receive services when there are OPTIONS.

I did NOT get a receipt, any indication that whatever he was able to take before his unprofessional supervisor came out that my documents would suffice, and basically NONE of my questions were answered.

Doesn't seem like they care about their residents. I've been to other county offices in CA and other states. Counties with less modern upgrades and more residents do better at ensuring the welfare of their residents. They can't even reply to emails. Alot of misinformation.

For a busy county office building, that has faced budget cuts and therefore are having to do more work with less people, this office is pretty good. As with anything that is doe by a number, get there early and make an appointment. Just like dmv, the later you show up, even with an appointment, the longer your wait will be.

Hiring practices are unfair. They do not interview all eligible candidates.I met the qualifications for a job. I took the exam and got #1. According to the county they interview individuals who placed between 1-3. I found out from the personnel certification unit that this department filters the applications for individuals who placed between 1-3. They only interview individuals who meet their needs . If they were looking for bilingual workers and etc that should have been on the job announcement. That lets the applicant know they are looking for specific workers. This defeats the purpose of people taking an exam and being placed on a list. I was told that I would have to reapply.

Got there at 733 am. Needed an income verification only. Didn't need to talk to a worker to apply or anything. Was the first one there. Waited 50 minutes no worker was available to take us. Had to go ask a check in worker if they arrived yet. He went to go ask and look around 4 four times and never replied to me after his walk around the place, i would have to go to him. He said he couldn't find a worker to help us with printing an income verification. He even said he couldn't find his supervisor. What the heck is this bs. Ended up leaving with no income verification for our social security appointment which was at 9 am. Appointments are useless. Why open early to not have all your workers there?

everyone was very nice and super helpful when I went in today to get apply for healthcare, they even squeezed me in for an appointment to be seen the same day which is usually not possible. I am grateful that it only took one day of a challenging wait with a fussy toddler to receive so much help in getting my life on track.
Not to say it was easy :)

Have been calling because I need to add my new born son on my health insurance and the system doesn't show the paperwork I sent. Every time I call the numbers they left out on the building (that is closed) do not work. I need to get my son his shots and to see a doctor. My old social worker phone number now doesn't work either. This is ridiculous. Would give no starts if I could.

This place sucks, the customer service is 1.0 out 10. I have clearly told and finalized with my case worker Jamey/Jamie to transfer my case to Texas and cancel my benefits here and give me a confirmation so that i can show that in Texas, that GUY told me everything is all set and we will transfer your case and send you the confirmation to your mail box. It never happened and even he is not answering my phone calls.
Please Help, Help, Help! This is real bad.

All of the agents and service representatives were extremely rude, speaking down to me, and even insulting me! I don't understand how these people, who clearly were not trained properly to do this job, keep their jobs here or consider themselves to be helping anybody. I dread coming here any time I have to.

even one star is a lot for them. so we called them around 3:20 and we were trying to see that the fax that we sent to them is good. we had the receipt and we knew that it is arrived, but the worker which we asked her name multiple time kept telling us that fax have not received, she was yielding on us, so we asked for manager or how ever is in charge, and worker refused to connect us to the manager, and she rudely hang out, so we faxed the letter again and called back again this time the worker said that fax have been arrived, not the fax that we just did the fax that we did a couple of days ago. so yes that fax was there but the other worker didn't want to check for it. And I am pretty sure that yielding is not part of the customer service, and when a customer ask for the manager that the worker must connect the line to the manager.

They are so helpful they get you in and out of there as soon as they can accommodate appointments to your needs. Went in for an appointment even though I was 5 minutes late still was seen 15 minutes later. Worker yona was very helpful I needed some verification of no longer working at a job she took the time to sit with me and call to verify over the phone instead of sending me home with a form and later submitted got my benefits that same day

Customer service sucks because you're not calling ...

Customer service sucks because you're not calling the office directly. The number listed is a call center.
I called 5 times in 6 months to correct my address that my case worker messed up and it was never fixed, our mail was returned to their office and our benefits were cut off with no notice.
I worked and paid into this system for over 10 years. I've worked since I was 17 years old and the one time in my life I need help, they treat me like a god damn crack head off the street. I have a college degree and nowhere in sacramento is hiring...can I have their job? I'll do a hell of a lot better than they do. And I'll show passion and empathy; two things all case workers lack.
