The BBQ is excellent, the portions are giant, the prices are very reasonable, and the beer selection is very good. Service is good at the bar, but I can't speak to the rest of the restaurant. This is one of those places I always visit when I travel to the area.
I stopped here after a recommendation from a friend that said the food was good. I didn't know that the place was a BBQ Resturant.
Wasn't in the mood for BBQ so I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms, and it came with 2 sides. I ordered french fries and the cole slaw. The burger was big, hot, and delicious. The fries were hotter than any fries I have ever gotten at a restaurant. Frickin awesome. Best money I have spent on lunch in a long time. I can't wait to try the BBQ. Will definitely be back.
Brisket was all fat and disgusting, couldn't even choke down the non fat strips. Service was average at best, fake smiles... Second time here, will definitely be the last. First time was lunch, burger was good, maybe had high expectations but that brisket was just unforgivable.
I was over in Newport News last weekend helping my mother find a new car and when it was time for lunch I decided to give the Yorktown location of the County Grill a try. I've been to their Hampton location several times over the years and felt pretty good about trying out what I'm told is their original location.
We popped in around 1pm and the place was just starting to clear out a bit from their lunch crowd. There was no wait at all and we were immediately seated by the hostess. Likewise our server was there immediately to drop off menus and silverware and take our drink order. He returned a couple moments later with the drinks and a basket of corn muffins.
I ordered the Pork Shoulder BBQ Sandwich. It comes with 2 sides so I added Fries and Collards. Mom ordered the same except she had the Sweet Potato fries with her meal. After a short wait, our lunches arrived. I had warned Mom that it was going to be a lot of food and while she was expecting a big lunch she wasn't prepared for the sheer size of her sandwich.
The BBQ as always was delicious. I finished my meal, Mom ate about half of hers and boxed the rest. We also tucked the remaining corn muffins in her box. We were in and out of there in about an hour and back out to the car dealerships after that.
All in all, a great visit. Pros: Friendly, Clean, Fast Service, Great Food. Cons: None. If you're yearning for some BBQ, check them out if you're in Yorktown or Hampton.
Guys other then the good looking hostess this place was a train wreck.
I enjoyed my experience at the County Grill and Smokehouse! The service was really great! Our server Will was super attentive and made us feel welcome. The food was also very good : the brisket and pork were tender and juicy (I d give the brisket 4 out of 5 because i did not get the melt in my mouth feeling and it was cut too thin for my taste. The pork was at 4.25 out of 5, I was missing some smoky flavour). The sides of beans and coleslaw were done well! I will be back
Food was wonderful! Portions are huge so be prepared to take some home! It s a great value though and you absolutely HAVE to try the banana pudding! The only downside on our last visit was the wait time, but I still have 5 stars because it was not the fault of the establishment. We went there on college graduation weekend/Mother s Day weekend and every eating establishment was packed!
We visit here whenever we are in the Williamsburg area. Never had a bad meal. The kids have plenty to choose from as well. Plus, the local beer selection is great.
Amazing food at an amazing price. Best BBQ hands down in Hampton Roads. Fair priced drinks too.

Everything was delish! The kitchen mixed up our orders but Will our waiter, got things straightened out quickly! The warm potato salad was almost as good as mine. Heehee! My husband ordered the fried pork chops but wished they had a bone-in them. He chews on them just like a dog! Don't tell him I said that! Thanks! LOL

Way overpriced for the quality. Everyone who raves about this place must not have ever had decent BBQ. The ribs and chicken were both dry and oversauced. The salad was not fresh, the fried jalapeno was soggy, and everything was wilted. The potato salad was good, but the squash wasn't thoroughly cooked and the only seasoning on it was pepper. Lastly, the waitress claimed they use an all wood pit, but you can very easily tell that's a lie. I feel like I wasted a lot of money.

Food was ok. Ribs were overcooked and a bit dry. Ordered the table banana pudding..it only had 2 pieces of banana and barely any nilla wafers. A bit disappointed. The service was great however.. that's why the 3 stars.

Came tue nite for 61 cent wings. Wings were great and we already know their brisket is the best ever but the only thing id change is when they serve the wings they need to lable them so you know which ones your eating. Bought 2 full dinner for take out. No corn muffins and when I asked was told I had to buy them separately. Needless to say after spending 50 plus dollars and tip I did not pay for muffins!!! If I had been seated in the restaurant, corn muffins would have been provided at no additional charge. I was really looking forward the delish muffins to go with my pulled pork!! Disappointed

This visit Starters Order a simple tea And I get watered down You couldn't taste the tea. I asked simply if they have another pot. The answer was that's it you can get soda. My family doesnt drink soda. So she said that's it wow. Zero help and too bad.

This was a 1st. Got a starter. OMG it was so, BIG. I got the Nacho it had, cheese, meat, sauce, peppers, tomatoes, chips, then a chunk of BBQ, then, sour cream. The flavor was kind blowing. 1 the price was unreal, 2. food you just have to go. Give them a try, you also will fall in love.

Food was very good. Our server did not wear her face mask properly, (she wore it under her nose). Dead and dying flies were all along the window sills. Light fixture hanging over table had dust and webs on it, and it was not Halloween decorations.
What a wonderful place, from being greeted as soon as you walk in. To a wide variety of home cooked, down south BBQ. We had a large party so we tried it all ribs meaty, brisket ends and pulled tender and delicious, cole slaw and mashed potatoes literally award winning. 6 different BBQ sauces. Yum yum on the homemade bannana pudding. Whether it is a family event, dinner for 2, or you want it to go this place is a real find. A must try. Great staff and exceptional service!

Came in twice. First time was on a recommendation and I got the meatloaf because the girls at the front said it was a must but was rather dry and breadfilled. Service was rather lacking also. Came in a second time because people said it might have just been an off night so tried again. Pork quesadilla was great but my friends wings were so so especially for the price. Sweet tea was bad and had to get new ones. Service was definitely lacking still. I don't know whats going on but definitely didn't live up to the name. Also keep your bbq sauces on the table full please...
I have been here many times and always enjoy myself. They have a great atmosphere, great bar with nice selection of craft beer, and usually great BBQ. The reason I. Giving it a 3 star this time is because I ordered the burnt ends and a bucket of wings to split with a co-worker. Wings were decent, but not as good as I remember. Could have used a little more cooking to crisp up the skin. The burnt ends were also very dry this time. It did not look like they were using the point to make their burnt ends as it was very lean. I have had their burnt ends before and they were great as we're their wings. Might have been sub par because they had specials featuring both and they could not keep up quality up to meet demand. I will return as it is a great place for beer and BBQ.

Not bad for a BBQ place. The pulled pork was pretty good not dry by any means. Disappointed with the burnt ends not really being burnt ends, more like large chunks of brisket ( which isn't bad, just not burnt ends). The brisket was a little on the dry side though and no good visible smoke ring. For sandwiches, I recommend the Peacemaker...comes together great. Pretty much think all pieces of pork used in different ways. Now the real draw to this place is the sauces. They have several takes on regional bbq sauces. The Kansas and southwestern were my favorite. The Savannah one though was also delicious if you like mustard based. Just wish they had a Alabama sauce too to round things out. All in all worth a trip for some decent que.
