The receptionist guy is EXTREMELY rude. I had my visa application processed inside with a visa officer earlier but need to return an additional photocopy of my document. It is just a page and the visa officer told me I can just pass my copy to her and leave, I do not need to get in line again. However this receptionist stopped me(and many other ppl who was in the same situation) in a very condescending way. I was humiliated in front of others but cannot do anything. PLEASE replace this guy, do not let person like him tarnish the Spain image.

Went in for an NIE today and was really surprised at what good service I had. It only took about 1 day to get my appointment through email. I went in and was pleasantly surprised about how accommodating they were. For starters their English was really good and they walked me through the process in great detail. I've had experience with consulates like Chile and Brazil but this was by far the best.
I am very impressed with the helpful attitude of the consular officials I dealt with at the Spanish Consulate in San Francisco. In more than 40 years of global travel, I've visited a lot of consulates where it felt like the staff were looking for reasons to deny my requests. Here, it was clearly the opposite. The local process of reviewing some applications in advance of a visit to the consulate enabled me to ensure that I was likely to be granted the visa I needed as well as to have everything I needed with me (and in the correct form...) when I did arrive at the consulate. Sure, COVID-19 has impacted the experience by requiring visitors to wait outside and to stay 6 feet away from others when in the consulate. But, I for one appreciate every step taken to preserve my health and that of others. Thank You!
I went to the Spanish consulate to get an NIE. My mother passed away and I inherited her property in Spain, which is already a very stressful event. Beatriz gave me very helpful advice and made sure I knew how to email her if I had follow up questions. I lost all my notes so I was definitely glad to be able to follow up with her. Her response was quick and thorough. If my review were for Beatriz alone, they'd easily get five stars. I took one star off because the entry is a little confusing. There's a sign out front but it's not clear if you should just walk in or ring to be let in. The man at the door was a little grumpy, but maybe it's just his demeanor to be very no-nonsense. My NIE came in two weeks by email, very quickly.
I had a few questions about the paperwork which took me just a few hours to get an answer by email. Process of scheduling an appointment was super easy. My documents were checked by the staff (over email) in advance and as I needed to fix a few things that was very helpful. Visit to Consulate was very pleasant. One of best experiences with the government offices I ever had. Great job, Spain!
I visited the Spanish consulate in San Francisco approximately a month ago re renew my NIE. The whole process was very fast. I got my new NIE within a week. The stuff at the embassy was very polite and professional. Especially, Beatriz who took care of my application.
ABSOLUTELY 5 STARS!!! I am so grateful to Blanca! I had to register in the consulate in order to renew my passport. She knew I wanted to travel back to Spain as soon as possible and she was extremely nice and helpful. I couldn't thank her enough for her efficiency, patience and understanding. You are great Blanca! Thanks for the work you do at the consulate to make us feel a little bit closer to home :)
We cannot be thankful enough to Beatriz, whose constant guidance was instrumental in making a power of attorney needed to buy a flat back home become a reality for us. When we found out about the COVID restrictions inside the Consulate, we were guided as to how to get all the needed paperwork sent safely via email ahead of time so we could get an appointment, thus reducing the amount of unnecessary misused time physically at the Consilate. Then, we received reviewed progress on our status via email as well as the date and time of our appointment. Both Beatriz and the Consul were a delight to work with to ensure, while all being safe, that the signature for the power or attorney took place promptly. As a Spanish citizen, I cannot be but thankful for their hard work in these trying times. They make me proud to be Spanish!
I had excellent service. It was easy for me to get an appointment for my NIE and MS. Sanz Ortiz kindly answered other questions I had regarding Notary service. Great, efficient and kind service!
I am overjoyed to now be in possession of a Spanish Visa after only a few short weeks and am so glad to call the SF based Consulate my regional office. After working with different countries (Germany, Argentina) through this process I cannot tell you what a gift it has been to work with Blanca. She has been consistent and patient in walking me through all of this to a successful outcome, understanding my pressing needs, and directing me on next steps. I will never forget the conversation we had outside (Covid restrictions) as I described my personal situation and handed over my documents. Public service is a calling, and she clearly has been called to help people like us navigate unchartered waters. I urge anyone about to enter this process to utilize all the resources online to have things prepared and ready. Give yourselves time to complete everything properly, and ask questions! I hope you are lucky enough to have Blanca assist you, and if so, I can guarantee those questions will be answered with care and detailed attention. Thank you for guiding me through this life changing process. All the best to everyone looking to choose Spain as their home away from home. Confianza!
